Walmart is not a good example of an American supermarket. Try shopping at locally-run ones if you ever visit the U.S. and then compare it with Walmart. Sure Walmart has better prices, but the customer service is appalling.

Wow. Unbelievable how big this store is and overall so complete with all those products. We don't have it in The Netherlands. I think this would be too much for us. I think if I bought the cheapest toothbrush in here then it would be still cheaper at Walmart and I get more maybe like 2 or 3 extra. Nice vid!

Sekitar 20 tahun lalu Walmart ada buka di Lippo Supermall Karawaci, Tangerang Indonesia, tapi hanya bertahan sebentar lalu tutup. Di mal itu juga ada JC Penney, tapi tidak bertahan juga. Ah, juga ada Arby's! Saya suka sekali! Sayang sekali sekarang semua tidak ada lagi. Mallnya masih ada, tapi tenant2 nya sudah beda sama sekali. Kalau sempat main ke Lippo Village, Karawaci Tangerang dan bikin video disana pak Martin :) Try Gio-Vanesse, restoran Italian-Mexican di Supermall Karawaci. Enakkk!

american here (from michigan!). it's weird to think you guys don't have walmarts (or meijers, etc) in other countries. i always kinda assumed meijer at least was from germany or some place, like aldi, you know? because of the name. but i just looked it up and apparently meijer's midwest-only (not even in southern states). shows what i know

Kay Small Walmart doesn’t do “clearance” exactly, they have items that get marked off but its called “roll back”

+spyrmac some places have some things cheaper but on average Malmart is inexpensive. Amazon may be cheaper sometimes. Walmart has an online store too. Just compare prices.

What confused me, was having to add Tax at the checkout. We're not used to that in the UK.

Yeah. The price you see on the tag and the price you see at checkout are different because of mainly sales tax, which can vary depending on the state, and even bottle deposits.

It's because state to state and even city to city the taxes can be SOO different that it's much easier for larger chain stores like this one to put the prices and then depending on where it is sold to add taxes at the checkout. But some very local smaller stores will sometimes add taxes to the price. Local mom and pop shops and often also the 99 cent stores. But it depends on how it is more comfortable to do for the store, not the customer. Although also easier for foreign tourists who can get refund easier on the tax paid since then they don't have to calculate each item's individual tax based on where they bought it and then add them all up. Makes things like road trips across many states for savvy foreign tourists easier.

Also, lots of states have no tax on food items, but you'll pay tax on nonfood grocery items there. My state doesn't charge tax on food items.

there is a school section. also makeup and clothing. he basically skipped quite a few sections or that walmart just doesn't have them. There are also crafting sections usually and many other ones. Like home decor, furniture and so on.

+adirenaldy Indonesia cost of living is about half of the U.S., and rent less than that. People that work at Walmart aren't allowed full hours usually, and have to work 2 or 3 jobs to get by. That is, the people that manage to get jobs - one should make a video of the process of getting in line for a job there, or a place like McDonald's.... Cheap is relative when your own country sold out your manufacturing infrastructure.

Yup it's been that way for well over 30 years (probably closer to 50 years). Long gone are the days of milk being sold in small glass bottles. I'm assuming you still get the glass bottle version?

For as long as I can remember, we've always bought milk in jugs. Before that, it was cartons and glass bottles. I know that the Canadians buy their milk in bags though.
