The real issue is that the cobbed atoms wouldn’t be compatible with regular atomic biology, so they would all die of horrific molecular breakdowns if they ever successfully incorporated any of the local biomass. Also, there is the secondary issue of the proximate cause of the cobbification. Is it science? Magic? Constant? Transient? A one off event? Will it eventually come for them and put them on a cob, forcing the family to be in constant contact for the rest of show?

Actually, I think it's because the Earth's are all very close, and they all have mass, meaning they have gravitational force, and they would eventually break off of the cob and smash into each other, causing a large explosion.

Since the sun seems to be alive, and the screams could be heard, I think it may be some sort of bioluminescent lifeform which lives inside the atmosphere and is not that big at all. So this world might not depend on the sun for energy, but just for light, so it may be possible to kill the sun and live there in the dark.

A 42h day HAS to cover 8.6 degrees an hour, regardless of size. It may LOOK faster if the planet is bigger, but the degrees covered is the same. In this clip we see roughly 20 degrees covered in about 10 seconds of screen time. This is 120 degrees a minute, translating to a full day lasting 3 minutes on this planet.
