Hi, im not very technical and find it all daunting to navigate.. Would you reccommend going with a web designer for a small fee or do you think going through the shopify tutorials and doing it yourelf would be easy for a beginner.
Hi, a decent web designer isn't going to be a small fee, especially in the UK (obviously depends on what you class as small). I would recommend trying yourself first as you still want to have a knowledge of the platform you are using, otherwise you will be completely reliant on the designer and they can disappear overnight.
Thanks for the great video. I’m currently on Wordpress with a bespoke website made by a web developer. Shopwired sounds much better in terms of integrations and ease of use but I’m wondering would I essentially have to start a new website from scratch in order to move to shop wired? Thanks
Np problem. There are two options you could look at, the first would be moving your complete website over to ShopWired, this would remove the bespoke WordPress site. The second option would be to have ShopWired running on a subdomain, something like shop.yourdomain.com, this would allow you to keep your WordPress as your main site but use ShopWired for your store.
Great video. I wanted to know if the stock would automatically update or if I would have to keep going to the product stock to change the stock number? & I also wanted to know about VAT with Shopify and shopwired? Thank you
Thank you. Both platforms have automatic stock updates, if you opt to manage stock within the platforms and as soon as you make a sale, it will remove one from your inventory. Both platforms also have VAT/Tax options available, which can be configured within their respective setting sections.
Thank you. Jewellery is my industry as well! That is quite a hard question to answer as it very much depends on the type of jewellery you are selling, ShopWired has some standard themes that would work really well with some types of jewellery (in my opinion anyway) but overall Shopify is better for design customisation. You could however pay and have ShopWired do a custom theme for you. And while design is important for a jewellery store, you do also need to think about managing your store behind the scenes and how much is your store going to cost you etc as you store may look amazing but could be frustrating to use and cost you a lot of money (I've been there and done it!). I haven't looked at Squarespace in over a year (it is on my to do list) but I wasn't impressed to be honest.
@@EcommerceGold ok thanks there's lots of SS vs Shopify comparisons. its poss the most common i've found. SS seems to have better designs as it started life as blog/design based not EC. my shop is / will be relatively small 4 cat / 25 products.. i don't anticipate large sales volume .. its would be nice! but the products aren't mass produced its handmade
Yes, Squarespace vs Shopify is very common, just like Wix vs Shopify. I'm guessing you are UK based? If so, I would take a look at a UK based company called Create, they might be a good fit, I haven't done a video review but have done a written one (www.ecommerce-gold.com/create-net-review/).
Quite a few of the negative Shopify reviews are about merchants using the platform, not the platform itself. Sites like G2 and Capterra have more reviews from users.
Thank you, to be honest, both would do the job. ShopWired is more UK focused, which might just give it an edge but I would recommending taking out a free trial with both and seeing which one you prefer.
Both platforms have options for use with Royal Mail click and drop and also shipstation, which allows you to print shipping labels off for your chosen shipping partner.

As you are UK based, ShopWired might be a good option as they are specifically for the UK market, with UK based support and do have an app to integrate with Aliexpress to help streamline the process. My advice would be to try both of them out (preferably using my links 😉) and see which one you feel more comfortable using as they both offer a 14 day free trial.
