Why oh why do people use gaffs for conger when catching/releasing???? It really annoys me - it causes unnecessary damage/tearing to the conger's mouth when a t-bar hook release can and SHOULD be used. I appreciate congers are tough and hardy fellas so will always heal in a couple of weeks after a gaff is used on their jaw/mouth but why even use it?? If you are going to fish ethically, make sure you are actually fishing ethically. this point side, great video and thanks for sharing. You're right, a fresh mackerel flapper rig cannot be beaten - so effective!
Nice congers...when I’m diving though I see ones that are surrounded by fish & can eat whatever time they like so they get huge & fussy so unlikely to ever get caught as they have fresh fish swimming past there hole all day...one was following me about it was a lot bigger than me & the ones I see in records don’t compare to what’s down there in wrecks...eye balls like tangerines 🍊
How many times did you say WHOO? You should get yourself a really big drop net, save you the bother of having to drag the fish all the way down to the steps.
Great vid again lads. Question going down to zennor Cornwall for a few days early in September will it be worth using crab wheel I made or to late in the year
john hurst it’s always worth a bash mate you could get lobster or chancer , the spider are moving out hear but still getting them, I’m not sure about your area but if you ask some local crab potters thet should be helpful to you for seing what’s about mate but to be fair I’d personally take it as you never know what’s going to go in haha good luck 🐟🎣
What a waste of good bate meat, next time you go shopping buy a bag of onions in the net bag, then instead of throwing away the fish meat you don't want for your hook, put it in the net bag and freeze it until the net time you go crabbing, then hang the net bag in your crab pot or bike wheel.
