@@Billyfishing_watch Thank you bro ! i love your videos. Your awesome ! I am soon gonna be coming to live in Norway and i am CRAVING to fish ! @_@ !!!! I plan to bring, my 1/15g, 10/35g, 20/50g,20/80g. I am about to buy the palms 45/140 thats why i asked you before i buy it :P
That's a great fish, it pays to have the right equipment, I always have my gaff assembled and ready to go. Whilst watching your video I was eating my tea, fresh school prawns that I caught last night from a lake 20 minutes away, and some Spanish mackerel I caught up the top of Australia that I had in the freezer, it was super delicious both of them. Halibut is on my bucket list, I think I'll visit Alaska one day.
Hi Johnny, how things on the flip side.would love to get me a spinsh, one of many list fish, your dinner sounds delicious. I would love to go to Alaska one day to, see you up there brother 👍😁
Hi Steve, and thank you. What an experience to catch a Fish like that on a lure. Don't know which was more fun the chase or the fight. Fish on Brother 👍😁👌
Billy you are a champion!! Beautiful Fish, Beautiful Halibut, Beautiful Fight, Great trips and Hole. What is the depth from the shore - where you cast?
@@Billyfishing_watch hi pall,, nightmare Billy,, wind and weather hammered us all week, totally killed the fishing, not many fish to talk about, that's how it goes sometimes, try again in Feb,, just catching up on your norway vid, loving the content billy👍🇳🇴🇳🇴
“I don’t know what it is, but it’s big” cracking fish, I was in saltstraum last week😁, had a PB cod of 34lb but was dwarfed by my friends 49 lb cod 😁it’s an awesome place, and on very light spinning gear catching coalfish up to 5lb on a 30grm jig was fantastic. Love the vids,
Wow, I only went on this channel to watch how to tye mackeral feathers that was two hours ago ,brilliant channel many thanks for vids keep them coming im cancelling net flicks tight lines .
Driving in Norway is not boring, there not a straight road in the country, and it beautiful. Just once I would love to drive right to the top, thanks Brother 👍😊
Hi Billy, found your channel a couple of weeks back and love the videos. I live north wales, its a shame bit the only big buts we get round here are in the boozer at the end of the night😉🤣 awesome fish from the shore👌
Wow Billy thats a hard fight on light gear even though its a baby and they can grow 4 times or more that size but still take nothing away from your tremendous effort it was enjoyable to watch jayus who needs a boat , had to laugh when you said im going home for dinner when dinner was at your feet. I’m a bass fisher from dublin and i do like to travel fish any bass there? Portugal warmer climate monster bass there cheers
Looked like that fight was a fun one. Plenty for the freezer, too I'd say. Garlic, lemon, and thyme til it's just translucent. Then a nice sip of Sauvignon Blanc to wash it down. Good eating and good living. Happy for you brother.
Another corka again Billy... You'd be surprised what a 5000 size reel can manage when in the right hands brother, and you probably already know what anyway mate. I've wanted to try shore fishing in Norway in couple year's if not sooner... Tight line's brother 🎣🎣🎣🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴
Well done brother Billy what a fish . You are amazing you always nail it . I bet that reel needed new washers after that battle . What's next ??????DABS
If you are looking for a halibut, the opening for fjords and the open cost line around the Arctic circle, and just put the hours in and you will hook up. Bodo is great Spot. Tight lines Brother 👍😁
We catch "fluke" winter flounder and a 10 pound fish is a trophy here on the East Coast of New England here in the "colonies" U.S. but we call the big one's "door mats" for obvious reasons. But I wish we had halibut to catch absolutely a beautiful fish you caught nice job thank you for sharing.
Hi bud. As far as I understand, the Flounder you catch is a type of halibut. So you're halfway there. They do catch them further north in Canada, Labrador on Nova Scotia is a good place to start. Thanks Brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch your exactly correct sir, the only real difference between them is you wouldn't want a fluke as big as a halibut because they have teeth! Razor sharp teeth that can do some serious cutting, take it from me I know first hand and well my second hand as well..I don't seem to learn my lessons and not only that but they also can bite down extremely hard often cutting plastic baits in half. I guess you could call them the Chihuahua of the flounder family because they definitely have a bad attitude for their size...lol...keep on casting you know your gonna gettum with just one more cast!
Great video thanks Brother Billy! Fantastic Halibut! Is there any minimum size for them over there? I know they can get huge, especially when boat fishing the deeps. Stay safe & well! 🎣🎣👍👍😁😁
The video I watched before this one was of a 32 kilo halibut off the same wharf. The fish took the lure right in close. Thanks from New Zealand. Billy I'm pretty sure that cod you released will die, like any fish handled with fingers in the gills. If you want to release them thumb in the jaw bro.nothing going in the gills
Hi Joe, FC fishing caught that halibut. He's a great guy. Hope you gave him a sub. As it goes I used to work in a fish hatchery just so long as you don't put your fingers through the gills the fish are fine. but I have since then got some fish grips. Thanks for the info, fish on Joe👍😊
@@Billyfishing_watch haha nah, damn seals pick stuff up, luckily they seem to know where the hook is ans leave you with a fish head. Also never freeline mackerel near dolphins 🎣🤣👍
@@Billyfishing_watch hopefully mate keep it up man ur guy could fish with have a lagh a good time and get that rod bending ahah big love bro from uk :)
In British Columbia we use fish like that for bait. Kidding. 😅 Very nice fish. About the perfect eating size. I was going to guess it weighed in around 40 lbs. The biggest halibut I ever caught was 101 pounds off of Vancouver Island, followed by a 77-pounder about 10 minutes after netting the first one. I returned to that same site a few times but never again had so much as a bite. RU-vid keeps recommending your videos and I think they're pretty good so I guess it's time to subscribe. Cheers.
Glad you subbed up! I need Mo guys like you 👍😁 there's something about halibut that captivates the imagination. And it sounds like you are hooked too! Thank Brother, see you on the beach, 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch It's crazy catching halibut from the shore or dock. I'm not sure I've ever even heard of anyone doing that here. I did see one in about 5 feet of water under a dock once though - maybe a 10 pounder. You normally use a boat to go fishing here. Anyways, see you around your channel. 👍
@@Billyfishing_watch Ah right, when you mentioned the 1500 km drive I thought you came from Ireland, class fishing Billy,in the middle of a van conversion and hoping to get up there for some fishing as soon as it's done
The place you’re fishing at is good, but you should take the ferry out to the islands. Let me know if you do. I can give you a couple of good places to fish from since I grew up there.
