hey everyone,
So this was supposed to be a nice easy session, but the rain had other ideas, we stuck it out as I really wanted to try out my new rod.Bream, the Daiwa tournament pro surf 13ft 6. Really enjoyed it, and boy can it cast. Bill who I fished with finished the evening with a lovely undulate ray over 10 pound.

Funny you say that Ray, as a buddy of mine says exactly the same thing. Don't be afraid to put out a big bait for a bream. I didn't take the ten pounds. I do however have a lovely dinner😂😂, thanks mate👍👍🎣🎣

Nice bit of weather Dylan...well done for battling through it! Nice chunk of a Bream that, looked like a very decent fish in fairness! Always the way isn't it, usually get the fish on the rigs you don't expect to get them on ha! Beast of a Ray that your friend caught, beautiful looking fish. Thanks Gareth, yeah it was pretty awful, and it doesn't look good for this weekend, but hey ho. Was so pleased for bill to get into a good fish, he's struggled of late, and it's easy to lose interest, but he's battled through, and got his rewards🎣🎣👍🙏

Thanks mate, yeah it's defo got more power than I'm used to. Bites back every now and then, but over all it's a good rod. Was super chuffed to get my first bream of the year, and a nice size one too, you know it's a good size, when it feeds two😂👍👍🎣

Yes you are right in the fact it is an undulated ray, nice one, black bream normally hold near a wreck or something similar & you usually get a few of them, great dinner for tonight, 😊

Yeah man, it was hard work, most of the sessions of late have been to be fair, but if we don't try, we don't know, and was chuffed to get a good bream in the end, the rod is a bit of a beast, way stiffer than I'm used to, but I can really punch a lead out there👍👍🎣🎣

Cheers buddy, yeah it was great to catch something straight away on it. I let my mate have a go and he really rated the rod too, he's got far more experience than I have. So overall I'm pretty happy with it👍👍🎣🎣

Cheers Jon, it's definitely no flattie basher, which is surprising given the thinness of the tip, but it definitely gets a lead and bait out there. Haven't tried it with a 5oz, only 6, but it defo works👍👍🎣🎣

Only just came across your channel and very impressed. You have an engaging conversational style which makes for very easy watching so keep up the good work! I live and mainly fish on the opposite side of the Solent from you in Highcliffe and in the past couple of weeks there has been a plague of strap congers with any fish baits being taken almost as soon as they hit the water so little chance of other species getting a look in.

Thanks David. That's very kind of you to say, and very much appreciated. Fortunately we haven't seen as many yet this year, but I'm sure if you are then we will shortly too. The mackerel fishing has been rubbish this year, which is a shame. But I seem to be doing alright at the moment. Had a couple of nice rays recently which gets the confidence up, and won a couple of comps in a row, which for me is fantastic. I just enjoy getting out, and try to share the experience. They might not be the best, and I'm certainly no expert. I'm really glad you enjoy buddy, thank you👍👍🎣🎣

You are welcome, I’m only too happy to support a quality channel. I’m envious of your multiple shore options on the Island with such a huge variety of locations to choose from and of course you can always get out of the wind! I fished Chale many years ago back in the 70s as it had gained a reputation for small eyed ray but didn’t connect with any. If only that short stretch of water across the water were not so expensive. Funny that I mentioned the plague of congers in my earlier comment to you because last night on what seemed to be a good tide, certainly better than when I had lots of fish a week or so ago on the same beach, I blanked with not even the suspicion of a bite on either rod, that’s certainly the perverse nature of shore fishing for you!@@FrugalOutdoors

Yeah it was pretty chunky, I'm still to break the two pound mark, came super close last year by half ounce. Fingers crossed for this year. The rod is super powerful but me a few times on Saturday, and not as sensitive as I'd like, but it gets a bait out a long way, so think it will be a good rod. My mate always says, if you can't see the bite, you don't want the fish anyway😂😂👍👍

Nice. I christened a rod yesterday, after suffering a few blanks with it. It was only a mackerel, but I'm counting it. Have you given up on the casting trigger thing? I managed about 10 minutes with mine before taking it off.
