If you want to release a small mackerel try to not drop it on the floor and let it flop around that will almost always guarantee it won't survive, try to shake it off the hook beside the jetty

Shorncliffe is always packed. Live bait is the best there I find , depends on what season use three dollar jig packs catch them at where the stairs are In 20 min fish on.
