Good morning, Ed. I woke up just as your video showed up this morning. I always enjoy watching them. It's impressive how organized you are. It's the only way to be. Everything having a place makes life so much easier,especially when it is put away after use. I hope you take time to pause and enjoy your fantastic home setting amidst all the chores there are to keep up with. I truly enjoy the beauty of where you live. Via the impressive videos you make. It makes not being in Alaska at this time less difficult. Your skills have grown immensely over time. As always, I want to thank you for sharing small pieces of your life with all of us.

I buy the cheap and stinkiest dryer sheets and clothespin them around my garden down low for the rabbits and chipmunks and higher up for the deer and moose. They hate the smell and stay clear of the garden and trees. I hate the smell also but I like my fruit and veggies more. I don't want to buy my fruit and veggies to can, so I'll put up with it. Lol

Ed today i found a special heat tool for ovens- in German "Nachheizkasten" englisch reheating box- its a box ca. 80 centimeter x 30 cem x 70 cm out of full cast iron tool- that you could stand near your oven- the heat will be transpotred via the pipe through this reheater and you can use the extra radiator place- space for your room. With this tool (ca. 700 US $ ) you would safe fore wood and create much more heat by the same load wood! One tool has also fire clay! am a zon- "Nachheizkasten Schmid NHK G 73 Guss mit Schamotteauskleidung" that create 5 hours! extra heat! 105 KGs per tool One heli transport more :-) The most efic. ovens are the groundovens. As more heat storage as lesser wood is needed. I love this extra tool. For cleaing the tool there is one door . this tool has 1,2 sqwermeter heat iron! Thas is a lot Frank
@MountainMariner
@MountainMariner 3 дня назад
I looked it up. Interesting if someone required more heat efficiency for a space. But my problem is the opposite. My cabin interior is too hot even on the wood stoves lowest setting, with two windows open. -28 Celsius outside. (-20º Fahrenheit) Plus my current pricing is $0.00 to open the windows and $0.00 for my wood. Only a bit of labor involved...which warms the bones also.
@frankpohl4377
@frankpohl4377 3 дня назад
@@MountainMariner yeah thats cool. So if its warm enough trough the night then everything is OK. in the future when you are retierd- you should build traditionell wooden shutters to close them in the night they safe also heat in winter...some build them bear proove Storm proof of course. And they look great.

Ed, your love for the 360 view on your cabin- is the reason your redyness to react for the case that the china- invasion starts? Get ready make ready the 50 caliber? We in Germany love watchtowers. We have them on castels on mountains in church towers in forrests and so on. For hunting we have mobil once or high end from "Zauberjagd" a tower with oven solar and best insolation. (Here you’ll find premium hunting blinds in a modular system that can be modified, which is manufactured in Germany and is sustainable. They are reusable and do not mean a permanent interference with nature even when moving to a new hunting ground.) Such a tower would fit into your cabin world.By having such a tower you could build a toiletroom a mudroom and so on on your cabin platform to get more comfy... Frank

Ed, I use a coal shovel to deal with snow. It is a little smaller than a grain scoop and made of steel. It is very sturdy and has many uses. If you can't find one up there, I can round one up here and send it up. They were used in the coal mines for hand loading and to feed boilers.
@MountainMariner
@MountainMariner 2 месяца назад
Problem with using a steel shovel for snow is the snow/slush freezes to the steel and your 7 pound shovel becomes 40 pounds very quickly. That’s why you see snow shovels only made from aluminum or plastic.

@@MountainMariner you ever try putting that really hot sauce on your stuff the bears like to chew. While Elk hunting in New Mexico the bears were tearing up my pop up hunting blinds. I had to patch them up with rolls of duct tape. I went to town and bought a spray bottle and a couple bottles of hot sauce and sprayed my blinds. This kept the bears from wrecking them.
