On August 17th, almost every railfan in metro Detroit ran to CSX's Saginaw and Plymouth subdivisions to get their shots of the incredibly sought after CSX office car special, and this year, I was one of them. The plan originally was to go down to Carleton and chase him up to Plymouth, however, the train ended up arriving in Walbridge two hours earlier than advertised, so we decided not to risk it and head to Romulus instead. Once we arrived, we were greeted with heavy downpours and frequent lightning strikes. Thankfully, when the OCS arrived, the rains reduced to a sprinkle. Once the train passed and we hit the road again, that's when the real fun began. It was near peak rush hour and traffic was nearly at a standstill all the way up I275. Thankfully, the train needed a crew change at Plymouth, which delayed the train about a good 15 minutes. By some miracle, we were able to make it to the west side of Plymouth with less than 5 minutes to spare and caught the train going past a set of old searchlight signals.
