My last boy cut was a disaster cuz the hair dresser didn't want to cut my hair cuz "I'd look prettier with just a bob". Whenever I go anywhere near a salon, I'd immediately get bombarded with "want us to straighten your hair?" "You'd look prettier with straight hair" Like chill y'all, I just want a proper haircut for once. Btw, great cut!
@@Annie.aa4 I found this barber who was a bit hesitant at first but he was pretty cool and we got along fine. He gave me a really cool boycut, similar to the video but a bit longer at the top. Maintaining my hair has never been so easy now that it's more manageable for me. So all in all, it's pretty great!

I just wish people commenting bad could learn something with this video: when cutting curly hair, especially loose curls like these, one MUST ALWAYS respect the curl´s natural fall. If stretched and cut like straight hair it can cause over cutting, wrong curl patterns and mismatched look. This is how all professionals and not should start cutting curls!!! I am of mixed origin (Capeverdean) and my hair is not afro nor straight. It is very difficult to find a good hairdresser/barber to my kind of hair texture and curl pattern. Well done, EJ!

I just did a coily pixie yesterday from shoulder length. Although I can cut curly hair, I always feel I could do better so I research. I came across your video and feel automatically better about myself seeing that I basically did the same cut using the same technique. Beautiful end result!
I have similar hair to that and have never, in my whole life found a hairdresser who understood how to cut curly hair. However, I was forced to address the situation myself during lockdown (hate that word!). I have a kind of curly “pixie” (another annoying word!!) cut. I had finally persuaded my hairdresser to cut it dry but she doesn’t approve! I normally go to have it “tweaked” every three weeks, mainly because the sides get too bulky, but I don’t want her to blend the whole thing and follow her standard recipe for a short hair cut. She cannot get her head around leaving odd bits longer, where the hair curls in odd directions. So I invested in some professional, quality hairdressing scissors and have been “sculpting” my own hair. Honestly, I think I will stick with doing my own! It is very difficult to shape the back but as I would say it is more like sculpting a form and it is possible to hold up a mirror, eye up the form and go freestyle! I’ve been far more devastated at the butchery I’ve suffered in the hands of some very expensive hairdressers! Anyway, this is the perfect opportunity to experiment! Nobody sees me, except my husband who says it looks as good, if not better than when I’ve been to the hairdresser. I think it looks better!!
Lady, you do your own hair cause' you been knowing her for such long time. If it looks and feels good for you just do it. For me, i do is on my own way the same. Hairstylist, went to many and all did their best my main hairdresser stopped because of his back hurted of long standing cutting customers. I let it grow, had it long again. When i had my child went to hairstylist but after such amount of money. I let it grow again and nowadays i keep it shorter from now on. Mashallah, if it's good enjoy it. Blessings ✨🌟✨
be careful! make sure to be sure your hairdresser knows what they’re doing and show them reference pictures, that way it’ll be guaranteed your hair will look good!

I love pixie cuts. I have semi curly, and if I leave the top sort of longish, it’s curly, but I’ve gotten it cut about 1 1/2” all over, and it’s straight. So easy to keep!!
I am also thinking of cutting may hair will be doing soon!! My curly hair always get messed up and I feel really uncomfortable in hot weather that's why!

Wow. I wish I can find someone here who knows how to do haircut for thick curly hair. It’s predominantly straight hair in my country so salons usually don’t know how to deal with my hair or will just suggest to straighten it. I love my curls and I’m so done with rebonding.

I swear every time I go to the hair dresser and said I want a short haircut they'd just shaved off my whole head leaving like an inch left. Like broo just because I have curly hair doesn't mean there's no other style?? But I was an anxious kid so I didn't say anything. As a hair dresser, watching him cut hair like this makes me want to scream "what the #$@% are you doing???" But, my God, it came out great! Another weapon in my arsenal....lol!
@@lilamarieduran7622 each of those curls has different tension so he's not cutting exact inches all over. He's cutting the curls in their relaxed state.
