Came here because I couldn’t find anybody to cut my daughter’s hair before school! I need everybody on this thread to pray for me and her lol. Here I go with the scissors! **OK you guys! I wanted to give you all the follow up … I did the strategy shown in this video, and I nailed it! My daughter started showing people and they’re like OMG please get us the info for your curly hair stylist 😂🤫
I was getting ready tell you "you can do this!" when I noticed your comment was from almost a year ago. I'm so glad you were able to do it. Hopefully you've kept on top of the style and it's only gotten better. Blessings to you and your daughter 🤗
@@nuthinbutlove My daughters hair came out AMAZING! Everyone always asks me where I got it done and they are in shock when I tell them I did it at home from a youtube video! I dont really use this page anymore but I def need to upload a video for anyone on this thread thats curious!
Brilliant shape ! I worked on a haircut with very similar philosophy in 1989 while I trained with jingles international in NYC. We actually weren’t allowed a comb at all .....Thank you so much for sharing!
Ugh I wish you could cut my hair!!! I have yet to find a stylist that can shape my wild curls! Is it weird to ask my stylist to watch this for my haircut next week? 😅
Show them the video! Communication is important between client and stylest a good hair stylest knows this. The video is a tool to show them what you're looking for, You could say to them "Having curly, I find it hard to describe the cut I would like this short video shows what I'm looking for do you mind watching it?" ❤ Pro tip: ask for a longer appointment time so the stylest isn't rushed
This is what I always envisioned my very wavy hair to look like but never seem to be able to express or explain what I want. I am hoping to take a still shot of this to bring to my next salon visit. Is there any verbal descriptors that we can ask our stylist to achieve this look?
I suggest saving the video to show your stylist and once he gets into the cut in the video you can fast -forward to the end so the stylist can hear it explained and see how it starts and then how it ends.
Yes. I've been dry cutting my hair for years and only recently tried wet cutting a few times but didn't care for the results. In my opinion a great curly cut should always start out dry!
This is my favorite cut ever! Lots of messy curly layers, fullness in the right places, easy to care for, and versatile. It's like a way better version of the 80's shag. These days if you ask a young hairstylist for a shag cut you might get a mullet, a wolfcut, or something in between. But not an actual shag. I think because things have changed that much and stylists are not learning in school what an actual shag should look like. Especially if you have curly or wavy hair. The beauty of a shag, in my opinion, is that it looks great with almost no fussing with it everyday. The best kind of haircut!
Yes. I'm not sure why they stopped teaching it. It's been the one consistent and has never quite gone out of style. Ironically I was following the new Cub Cut video and wasn't satisfied so I went a bit further with the cut at the top/sides and low and behold I had a shag. I was so happy lol. It's what I've been wanting for years. Oh, you might want to check out the new Cub Cut.
Great cut thank you. Wouldn't it be great if mannequin manufacturers created mannequins with different face shapes so we could practice different haircuts accordingly?
This is what I've wanted for years so I feel your frustration. I finally started cutting my own. I do the dry cut and take my time and check it over and over until I like what I see.
I'd love them to do this. They are clueless about adding layers everywhere I go since I moved to this new area and it's frustrating. I really don't know what to ask for to get them to do this cut though...
Omggggg this is how my hair looks like! It looks extremely fluffy. Works the best for 2c typa hair. Use your styling mousse and hair oil to avoid frizzy hair.😊❤
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. These shorter vids are so helpful. I’m a newer stylist & I have urs & a few others categorized & saved as quick reference for cuts/colors/styling etc. BTW love the tri-razor & for curly hair it’s amazing!! 👊
I've watched a LOT of haircutting videos, and because I have curly hair myself I am interested in cutting curly hair. This was an excellent tutorial that helped me a lot. Thank you!!
I get what you are trying to do, but there is no way you would be able to comb through my naturally curly hair to do a dry cut. Too much tease cutting and/or razor cutting opens up the cuticle and makes it frizzy.
Put it in really wet. I use argan (or whatever your moisturizer is) first in dripping hair, then add some gel. Finger comb it through to distribute. Scrunch the hair a bit, get the curls started. Wrap it in a T-shirt to absorb the moisture for a bit. Air dry or diffuse.
Hope you’re still answering questions…Due to weight gain, my face has gone from an oval to round. My hair is a 2C/3B? Just getting used to it being curly. Currently it makes it too short and and wide! I love this haircut but I feel I need more height. How can I achieve this height through a DIY? I have done the pigtail (😮) haircut in combo with a few other techniques for the time being… but what would be the best way to lightens up the top and even “lift” - maybe by just lighting the top type technique? Or should I use some sort of fringe - as you say to the cheek bones? From what you are showing, I think it would be using the fringe as guide for the empahise for the life on the cheek bones as a guide? Keep the curls less curly? (Right now it’s too short- at shoulder length!). Anyway. Your advice would be greatly appreciated in the interim.
I can’t tell you how frustrated I’ve been since “DIVA” cuts have come out , I can’t find anyone that can cut my hair anymore, why do you have a clue when no one else does and where can I find someone to help me!!! 😭😭😭If anyone knows of someone in the Houston area able to cut low density fine naturally curly hair I’d be thrilled!
I MUST say... Having a round face myself... I do NOT like to have that lifted up roundish shape in the front. It makes my face look even ROUNDER. I used to go to a hairdresser that cut really short layers on the top of my head with that lifting weight technique + softening it at the end, and it scared me out of hairdressers' salons... I felt like a puddle coming out of that, seriously. I like to have the entire weight to my shoulders and work out the slightest transition into the neck (with longer strands against the neck, but not that much longer) so that is elongates and shapes a sort of V shape in my neck. Then I add some framing pieces or a bang to break the round form on the forehead side... That's just me though! There's a lot of different "round"-ish shapes out there. (Although to be faire, I do sometimes add a THIN layer of short hair into the weight of my hair (that I try to keep rather in the back) to give it some volume and shagg effect, but I almost always hate it for a while before it grows more naturally into my hair. It's fine though, because I feel like most people don"t get how wavy/curly hair works and mostly don't notice lol)
This video really inspired and motivated me I love how you explain about the shear I’m ready to start a new collection of shears mizutani is the ones I want I seen some your other videos on these shears it really helped me not only choose what I need but other must have’s. You explain the cut really well what can be done and how and the cut turn out like you said it would. I have a curly hair client when I first cut it I struggled .She was back. Second time she really loved it I give you credit for this thank you
Love, Love, LOVE this cut! I want this type of shape for my hair, but mine is much curlier--3b. Worried about how to do this without losing too much length/movement when mine shrinks up.
Fun fact. I want my haircut like the mannequin in the beginning of this video because it is a longer and wispy version of the final cut.😂 I loved the final result.
Has anyone else purchased from their website. I bought 700 dollar shears and haven't heard from them at all. I go and look on Facebook and there's negative reviews on there for not shipping items.
I wonder if I can do this on myself. I am tired of having my hair hacked by hairdressers who don't understand my hair texture. Or maybe I am not good at explaining to hairdtessers what I want 🤔
Matt this is a great technique and a great haircut. I wish you had emphasize on elevation of the sectioning or departing are you taking them up at 90°?
Awesome, Do you have a video on strong bleach formula with olaplex on colored non virgin black hair with dark orange pigment. How to lift it- without destroying it? Usually only lifts to orange even, if hair color remover is used first. How much lift level needed & what to mix to get that Mink or Mushroom brown hair color over?
As you can tell I am a heavy girl. I am 57 years old per the 29th of this month. My hair is halfway down my back. It is graying bad with some of my dark brown still in it. I have very thin hair. I have done everything to try to thicken it up other than to go the more expensive routes. My father and mother have beautiful white hair and I have friends who tell me that my hair is going to be the same. Here's my dilemma... Should I dye my hair back to its original color? Dark brown 🤎? Or, maybe dye my hair AND cut it to slim my face? Should I just cut my hair and if so how? Or maybe I should I just leave well enough alone. 🤷🏻♀️ OR... Should I shave this stinkin' mess and be done with the problem? (P. S. I hate wigs on myself. But I love hats! 😀) Please, I'm a disabled nana. I don't get much each month to spend so ya girl can't go too far with her moe-nayyy. Whatever help you can offer WILL BE appreciated. 💋🌬️
I love your chanel and your tutorials. I am cutting my hair by myself. Can you make a video with tutorial for home haircut? I know the best haircut we get at saloon from professionals, but still... Thanks
