It's a super short time. 20 minutes over 3 days is about the least-relevant conditions they could come up with. The only possible scenario where someone might do that is, like, a hand model for a nail polish ad shoot where they're doing 10 different looks on the same person each day. Even so, there's no way someone's hands would tolerate that much acetone to remove and redo gel polish that much.
@unboundbytiffany
@unboundbytiffany 10 месяцев назад
The only time this would be a possible time frame is if the manicure requires a few nails at a time to be cured, usually when using builder gels etc that is necessary to not flood the cuticles and/or lose the apex when perfect etc. So that could be up anywhere from 5 min all the way up 20 alone (2 min for some thick BIAB/hard gels, with each finger going in. Would be 20 minutes already without even doing a base coat, top coat, or artwork of any kind.) So even taking the smaller amount of time, each coat adds up. 60 seconds for base coat, min. 60 seconds for whichever enhancement, and 30 seconds for any regular gel polish with 60 seconds for gel paints. So if you need to flash cure/even full cure parts of the nail art on each finger it really could add up quick even though it feels super fast. But yeah I mean I am not sure why it would be that much over 3 days in a row. That one lost me. Hhahahhaa. I still don't think the LED lamps can be that big of a deal, for me the light from my windows in the morning will cure any gel left out on my pallete by the evening so if I'm already being exposed to that everyday from the inside of my home and not even just baking outside under the sun directly (which alot of people do) I just can't imagine it being a big scary issue. I just see the media needing something they can up readership and profit over honestly. Lol. Sad but glad this guy setting it straight, ❤ 😊 we need more professional experts, like actual doctors, scientists/chemists, etc to join our nail industry and help start straightening out all the myths going around.:/

Oh but super random, if you're using acetone to remove gel products still. I totally recommend madam glams gel remover it's really wonderful. Saves me so much time and my lifelong crappy nails from getting even crappier haah I personally love it. Sorry random as f, but maybe you'd appreciate it 😊

LED is a type of lamp, like halogen, fluorescent, neon, etc. UV is a wavelength, like blue, red, etc. there are many lamps which emit light in the ultra-violet (UV) wavelength, one of which is LED. IT IS THE SAME WAVELEGTH IN ALL OF THEM. a UV LED light is no better or worse than any other lamp which emits UV light.

They both are UV lamps. The new LED-style lamps emit UV light. An LED lamp can emit many different kinds of light since LED stands for Light-emitting diode, it's just a type of light bulb 😊
@maiden411
@maiden411 Год назад
The gel part is actually a resin, which requires UVA light to cure. 😮
@unboundbytiffany
@unboundbytiffany 10 месяцев назад
Yeah he's not realizing that their LED/UV as the bulbs are LED bulbs the they emit a UV light at the exact frequency needed to cure these resins. However I do know some (very few nowadays but still some) gels aren't UV/LED compatible and may only still be UV, so they are different in a few ways including the amount of time needed to be under the lamp to cure it. It's something in how the light is emitted from the LED that makes it safer and quicker etc. But yes from what I know it's still emiting a form of UV light, but so do most daylight LED bulbs, blacklights, and the sun, even when coming through a window into your home all day etc.

When are using nail lamps to cure gel you cure 2 min - 5 seconds at a time depending on, if you’re trying to flash cure or fully cure, and what you’re trying to cure but even then it wouldn’t add up to 10 minutes in one session and going back to get your nails done for minimum two weeks so this study is a load of BS.
@grace2.026
@grace2.026 10 месяцев назад
Not all people are trained to use them safely. Most don’t realize that you shouldn’t be under for too long. I had my nails done yesterday and probably got in 15 min each hand
@ashlaraque4135
@ashlaraque4135 10 месяцев назад
@@grace2.026 Unless they were doing some sort of intricate design, it would make no sense for them to have your hand in the lamp for that long. Curing time for products is 1 to 2 minutes maximum and that is if you’re using a gel sculpting product. If you’re just using gel polish And gel base the hand wouldn’t be under the lamp for more than 4 minutes in total. If getting gel sculpted nails, your hands wouldn’t be under the lamp for more than 5 minutes. Mathematically what you’re saying makes no sense. Only other possibility that the nail tech had to cure your nails for longer because their land for the weak or or if they had to redo them for some reason. And neither of those cases are the norm when getting your nails done on a regular basis.

Dr. Sugai, please do a video about Lichen Planus on nails. I have an appt with my dermatologist soon to evaluate for this. I’ve been researching information about treatment for this, but haven’t seen anything that gives me hope to help find some relief. The images I’ve seen online of people with LP on their nails, looks exactly like mine. The splitting caused by this makes my nails very tender. Hopefully my Dr will be able to help, but I’m open to any and all remedies or suggestions. Thank you!

My sister has LP all over, on her scalp, legs, arms, even in her mouth. Its everywhere. Her derm has tried a lot of things but it seems to be pretty receptive to steroid shots, & antifungals. I'm not sure what they do for her nails tho. I'm sorry u r going thru it, it sounds very uncomfortable and there's not much research on it unfortunately.

@@leahyvonne1572 I also have oral Lichen Planus. It was only diagnosed several years ago. But when it was I vaguely remember in my mid-twenties a dentist saying I had ‘unusual flora’. Literally the 2 words I remembered. I think I mentioned it once or twice when I got a new dentist. Being diagnosed, just what I could glean from the separate definitions of the two words my lightbulb went off. edit - forgot to say I hope treatments keep your sister comfortable.

I’d be interested too. I replied to the person who replied to you, saying I have oral Lichen Planus, but reading your message I wonder if that could be causing my nail issues. What symptoms are concerning you? edit- apologies, you mentioned your nails splitting. Me too. I just noticed one or two because they were catching on clothes etc. one was a finger I lost the nail on once to a car door and I just shrugged the other one off. Now it’s all. Do yours just split of their own accord? more so toward the tip? when you try to do something fiddly like the clasp on a necklace? Do you keep your nails really really short because of the splitting. Sorry for all the ?s I’m just so intrigued as I’ve never heard of this before (LP on nails) and wonder if I might have a possible solution to this mystery of mine. I’m sorry to know your in pain, fingertip pain can be awful thanks to all the nerve receptors. I am lucky, I don’t have much pain as an old spinal cord injury stops signals going back and forth, especially to appendages & you can’t get farther away from your spring than a forger tip (well toes, I got that issue too). 🥲

@@magpiesneedle2575 , as a dental hygienist of 34 years, I’ve only seen one confirmed case of LP in one of my patients. I didn’t realize until recently when researching what could possibly be causing my mail issues that LP is not just an oral condition. Don’t know how I didn’t know that! I’m sorry you suffer with this. I can recall how painful it was for my patient when he came in for his cleanings. Unfortunately I’ve been a “nail biter” since I can remember. So far it has only affected my thumb nails. I’ll develop a split and it starts to heal and then it will revert and split again. So frustrating!

I swear I always wondered what happened to my fingers and it starts going all over my body and even though I just do my hands, I experience it on the palms of my feet. The palms of my hand and it just starts spreading all over my body, I've gone to the ER multiple times wondering what the hell is going on and they were never able to help me until I realize that I'm not the only one also I noticed that it doesn't matter if my nails are done with gel or done with a Kerlick, it still happens question is what can we add to our fingers so that it's not so itchy so that it doesn't burn?? 😅

I like them tho. Nail art is a fun hobby for me. I can work on intricate/detailed nail art a little over the course of multiple days. And curing makes sure the progress I’ve made stays in place. I never have success with nail lacquer staying long or even with the application, I’m horrible with that part.
