Bro that's one of the simplest thing in my life , you just need to know what could be replaced and yes above video used an IC which is common in all electronics
You CAN do that. It's up to you. No one is born with this knowledge. They learn it. You just have to have the drive to pursue it. For me, it's too useful of a skill to not learn it. Like automotive mechanics. It saves thousands in the long run.
Its interesting to see the method of the heat gun melting the pins into the solder on the board. I started doing that recently for charging ports. I used to try to solder on the feet and the pins of the USB ports to the solder. But its hard as fuck to not pop the fucking port off with soldering or melt other components with the heat gun I still love soldering though 😊
It's not a "chinese component" you racist fool. Look closer at the video. It's a IP5306, power management IC. It's one of the most common chips used for USB charging.
Anyone wondering what he did .. He put sum rosin vapor onto the components and when he turned it off he was looking for high temperatures that would melt the "vapor" (it's rosin residue) and basically he spotted the malicious IC after it started heating up like that..m
Usually if you get the angles between your eyes, the ic, and whatever your light source is right, you can just read some letters and numbers from the top of the ic. You might need a nice bright light for it though, it's not always super clear in a dim light.
It's always awesome to see well worn out electronics still being put to good use. I usually don't care to say this kind of stuff but e-waste is a serious problem. It's great the poorer countries can buy a lot of them and recycle whatever is salvageable. In western countries we take every electronic item for granted.
Unfortunately, not many people and shops willing to troubleshoot and repair powerbanks. The time it takes costs more than the purchase price of the powerbank itself.
Those TPxxx or IPxxx ICs are most frequent broken parts in Power Banks. I would like to learn how to troubleshooot those (learn electronics). Sure, some resitor, capacitor needs to be replaced as well near to broken IC. I buying from Aliexpress all kinds of Tp / Ip so that i can start my own service shortly ;) Hi from Poland.
