history fact: Dmitri Shostakovitch wrote this for Olympics Moscow 1980 :-)
@justdennis287
@justdennis287 5 лет назад
Dmitri Shostakovich’s five-minute Festive Overture in A major, Op. 96, was written in 1947 to mark the 30th anniversary of the October Revolution. It was not performed however until the 37th anniversary, when Alexander Melik-Pashayev conducted it during a Nov. 6, 1954, concert in Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre. (Not to be a smart ass or anything.)
@Dragontrumpetare
@Dragontrumpetare 5 лет назад
@@justdennis287 Strange, why is it even on a olympic soundtrack then? According to the information on that disc I have it was was played during the olympics? But according to Boosey and Hawkes it was used during the olympics games in Moskow 1980. But you right, it wasnt written to that event though. Was wrong there.
@justdennis287
@justdennis287 5 лет назад
