Shostakovich: Sonata for Cello & Piano in D Minor, Op. 40 at the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2017 Semifinals. - Santiago Cañón - Valencia: Cello - Naoko Sonoda: Piano
I don't normally care for Shostakovich. I started listening to this thinking that I would listen for a few minutes. This performance was absolutely riveting. I couldn't have enjoyed anything more.
The cellist has some amazing articulation. Never seen so much precision and technique visually , and it shows in the sound. Also enjoyed watching the pianist enjoying the 2nd movement. Amazing.
Listening to this, enjoying the music, the great playing. About 23 minutes in, almost done. Everything's quiet.. And NOW youtube decides it's the perfect time to ruin the mood with a loud obnoxious ad 😂
This performance was amazing. Absolutely breathtaking the Allegro at 8:46. You are the cellist who got me into cello in the first place, so thank you so much for your inspiration and virtuosity!
Wonderful playing,it’s nice to see him sticking to the script not overdoing the nuances. Please get rid of the man bun. Just a personal preference, but I think he’s one of best young talents . Love his clean ringing sound, bravo
I admire him much. Is there a vid with him playing the Rachmaninov cello sonata? He have a perfect intonation, tasteful vibrato and an unbelievable technique.
Santiago, sorry don't take it bad mate... All time I see you on social medias, I think at Harry Potter We schould cosplay it. You Harry, me ... Severus? xD Bravo for Sonata!
