Shot Gun is for Anti-drone coverage to and from the objective. Serves as a master key for doors on the objective. And makes for a reasonable anti-personnel device in crowded violent situations. Lots to learn from recent combat in Ukraine. Best of luck, Phil
I feel shotguns are going to become many people's primaries due to not many people owning guns. When the pandemic happened, all the grandparents were telling their kids and grandkids to buy a 12g, and many were sold out in local stores. Depending on where you live it's not necessarily a bad thing. I live on the Chicago outskirts where many people aren't armed or armored. And with all the urban warfare that will happen here, a shotgun in that situation excels
NC Arkansas checking in! A shotty is good when you get older and your vision becomes problematic for being an effective DDM and your not going to give in.
I remember reading about a Navy SEAL running a 12 gauge pump as his primary back in Nam. He used like number 4 buckshot and had the duckbill choke that would spread the shot horizontally. Worked very well in the thick jungle foliage. Cool video!
Shotguns have their uses, but there's a reason no military has ever issued them in any meaningful quantity. They difinately might be better in a civilian setting based on specific situation.
I appreciate that you involve your children for video making. If you have the right knowledge and a little bit of gear, you can take ANY other round and reload shotgun shells. Including the primers with the right stuff.
WWI, the shotgun was used for mainly Trench Warfare. WWII the Marines put the Shotgun to good use in jungle Warfair in the Pacific as a supporting weapon. In Korea, the shotgun was used effectively to defend our machinegun bunkers and M.G. positions. In Vietnam the shotgun was very effective again for Jungle Warfare in the thick brush. Mainly used by MAC-V SOG point men and for security and support roles. In Iraq, it was used mainly for breaching purposes. Now, in Ukraine, it's excellent as an anti-drone support weapon.
When I worked as a gun clerk we had to peddle alternatives against rioters when our AR-15 wall was mostly barren. Shotguns of course were eventually emptied as a result. Federal Flight Control LE Buck is the way to go. Slugs on standby.
SG has the Primary is AO dependent coastal plains and urban , Sub urban AOs for example and lets face it not everyone is a Rifleman. There are probably more shotguns than rifles in the US. But for the most part you are correct a SG is a mission specific wpn. in most applicatiions and or situations.
I like most firearms but My favorite gun of all time 12ga shotgun best for anything for the wilderness god bless 🇺🇸 And thank you to anyone who was in the service 🫡
Alright keep in mind that for the first couple of months of a possible SHTF situation. You guys more than likely after the first year you're going to use whatever you can get your hands on as a lot of RU-vid channels theorize majority of the ammunition on the North American continent will be expended in the first year. Slugs= longer ranged shots, 00Buck= close ranged shots, birdshot for close= short range shots. However in the event that you cannot find slugs anymore, wax or hot glue poured or cut poor man slugs will still do lethal action. Scout/Recon: 20 (slugs), 50 (00buck), 50 (bird). While slugs are necessary, buckshot and birdshot will be more prevalent for defense and retreat. As mentioned before scouts need to be light and fast, so they shouldn't really be expecting too much direct contact. However if it does occur they should have lethal options. Offensive/assault: 25 (slugs), 75 (00buck), 100 (bird). Slugs are lethal and have knockdown power on armoured targets, but (00buck) is better for bunched up groups. Birdshot is best used for defense or covering/retreating fire. Sentries: 5 (slug), 10 (00buck), 50 (bird). In the scenario and position that a sentry would hold, light amount of lethal is more necessary versus less lethal like birdshot that would be used more as funneling fire to guide raiders where you need them to go. Hunting: 5 (slug), 10 (00buck), 50 (bird). Reality is if you're going out hunting you're only going to need a few slugs the chances of you coming across an animal large enough and needing more than a few slugs is minimal. However if you live in wildcat or wild hog country buckshot can be just as lethal against them. Birdshot is more necessary since you're more likely to run into small to medium-sized game. Peacekeeper/lawman: 5 (blanks), 15 (00buck), 25 (bird). So the idea of the peacekeeper or lawman is they need to be able to de-escalate a situation the first load in their shotgun should automatically be a blank for warning shots. If SHTF has occurred, nobody's going to be worried about someone firing a warning shot hence why you want blanks. While it is necessary that the peacekeeper has some lethal load birdshot is just as effective for any possible situation behind the wire. Poured poor man slugs are birdshot with melted wax or melted/wet glue poured into the shot of bird shot shells and left to solidify. Alternatively you can do cut shells for the first shot, otherwise any cut shells in a tubular magazine or box magazine will just fall apart and cause a malfunction. The reasoning behind all the large quantities of birdshot is because birdshot is the most plentiful shot shells sold in the U.S., and majority of people who own shotguns will typically buy the super cheap bird shot shells in bulk. 00buck is harder to get since C19 and now they are typically sold in 10 shell boxes instead of 25 shell boxes. I don't know about anywhere else but in my area slugs are some of the most expensive things you can purchase, costing as low as $2-$5 a shell. Ok keep in mind this only represents 1 person in a group or squad carrying a shotgun. If you're in a group of less than 5 people, you only need 1 person with a shotgun, however if your in a group or squad of more than 7 people, have two people with shotguns. This theory also only goes out the window if all you have is shotguns. Any questions, comments or concerns?
@@ModernFrontiersman A few people I know have stalked up on .177 BBs as backup shot, they're pretty cheap right now. Quickest way to get the your measurements is take a 2&3/4 shell and cut around the center of the wad, the crimped end is your shot measure, and the brass end is your powder measure. Use caution and don't fill the cut sections full, leave a lil bit of room at the top, for the bit of space the wad once occupied. Use cotton balls or or crumpled up paper as your wad or patch to hold everything in place.
@@ModernFrontiersman I've been trying to buy a black powder rifle for a while but, none of the gun shops near me have had them in stock in a few years.
Good morning! Awesome video! For the record, I think your 7 year old did a pretty good job! However, if you didn’t have the “warning” prior, I would have assumed you were going for a Blair Witch vibe……. Followed by a snotty, teared up face way too close to the camera! Lol In all seriousness, can’t go wrong with a shotgun! They still have their place! Take care and my best to you and your family!
Shotgun great for self defense and food percurment. With my Turkey gun and my choke, im not shooting past 40-50 yard max. Thats main downfall to the shotgun. Definitely carry a main and have shotgun as the secondary. Have similar pack from CVLife. I like it so far
I love the shotgun--it can be VERY useful. 💯 that it shouldnt be your primary... Btw, I think your 7 year old did a great job with the camera and is very lucky to be out with dad doing what you're doing 😏👍
