Anime is simply Japanese animation. If your parents tell you "no," you must respect their decision (Ephesians 6:1-2). If you have been given freedom to decide for yourself, then use discernment and prayer when considering what to watch (1 Corinthians 10:23-31).
Anime is heavily informed by Japanese culture, religion, and morals. We must make sure that what we allow to influence us in the media is a positive, faith-growing thing-not something that will turn us away from God's will for our lives (Philippians 4:8). If you don't know what's going to be an obstacle to your faith, talk to God about it (James 1:5).

@@elduderino4936 lmaoo do NOT rec redo of healer 💀 but for OP, there are indeed many wholesome shows out there! you simply have to do your research. I'd recommend studio ghibli for beginners (minus grave of the fireflies) and the plethora of slice of life shows out there (ex: keep your hands off eizouken!, yuru camp, a place further than the universe, etc.) there are shows out there that may seem appropriate at first, but may contain violent or obscene elements, so it's important to look into forums and trusted review sites.

Another thing I'd like to mention. If you see curse words in anime subtitles or hear them in dubs that's typically just a translation issue. The entire concept of cursing in Japanese doesn't work the same as it does in English. It's mostly grammatical and boils down to using ultra informal inflection of speech in a disrespectful context. There aren't exactly many "dirty words" like their are in English. In fact the same exact phrase could be translated as either "you dummy" or "you stupid son of a b$#%@" depending on if it's a kid's anime or a grown up anime. Because it's just localizers arbitrarily deciding which words to use. They add cursing in English for emphasis even if it's not there in the Japanese. There is no equivalent to the f word. The word "kuso" which basically just means crap is sometimes translated as the s word or the f word but it's a word found in kid's manga/anime as well so it's not really on par with the s word or f word in English.

Pokémon is an anime, first introduced for kids in Saturday morning in Japan to watch. Now, it is popular among all ages not only in Japan, but here in the U.S.

They had to edit the anime to make it even more "kid friendly" in the US, and to remove the religious references, be they to Christianity or polytheist religions. XD

As a 17 year old, i have enough the Bible and if am bored biblical shows and movies. I can be too easily led astray and am not risking my eternity for some foolish things and a wasge of time as these. I have better things to focus on such as God, family and school. Edit: Also to add if anyone likes anime i have no problem, it is my personal choice not to. May the Lord bless you!❤

The only thing I disagree with you guys on is hentai because to me hentai is not anime…it’s Japanese cartoon pornography. Hentai is just disgusting and vile and you can only find them on porn sites. Anime doesn’t need to be associated with hentai. pornography including hentai is under the 1st admendment under the constitution of the United States Would you guys at 412teens agree with me on that cause I like to know what you guys think.

It is absolutely animated p*rn, yes, you're right on that! But as Japan qualifies ALL animation as "anime," it is always lumped in with genre of "anime." It's accessible in places where anime is available, such as on Crunchyroll. So we're educating young people about what they're going to find.

I stand corrected though on Crunchyroll--you are absolutely right. Thank you for the correction! They certainly do have some "adult" anime on there though, such as Ecchi, so a casual viewer needs to be careful. We do know from questions we've received that many young people believe it doesn't count as p*rn if it's animated, but, as you said, absolutely not true. So we're just trying to help educate!

This video's better balanced than others. It accurately states that anime is a MEDIUM as opposed to a "style". Saying "anime is bad" is like saying "books are bad" or "live action films are bad". Anime refers to a wide variety of stuff. It is simply a format. 0:53, it's not "tied to pornography" any more than live action films are tied to pornography simply because they're both made with cameras. Live action pornography is a subcategory of live action films and anime porn is a subcategory of anime. The reason being is that animation in Japan is simply seen as a neutral medium like live action as opposed to "kids stuff". And I believe the Japanese view of animation is the correct one. Not that I approve of every anime, but I believe there shouldn't be a "for kids" bias to illustrated media. 3:26 correct but western media today has even more now because it's literally required by DEI. Anime and manga now have less by comparison because there are usually no DEI quotas in Japanese media. The creator is allowed to create what they want without having to be politically correct.

The point we're making at 00:53 is that PARENTS will often tie anime to p*rnography because there's a stigma. As you said though, that's not a fair assessment because anime is simply a medium for telling stories. We apologize that this wasn't clear!

We feel that the priority of the church should be to teach people to emulate Christ in ALL they do--whether it is in their families, friendships, or the media they consume. This is going to be different for different people at different stages of their lives. To blanket-label something in media "demonic" is not only naive, it also gives credit/attention to satan for no real purpose other than to frighten people. Animated images are not sinful in and of themselves. Sin happens in the thoughts and actions of a human being. Churches ought to teach their congregations how to make wise choices for themselves and how to love God and others--not just give lists of things to avoid or hate.
