I believe Nussmeier will Return next year , too many mockers are trying to control the narrative around LSU , if Nuss returns , a National championship looks real , I don’t see it this year , however I keep hearing how people keep thinking he’s going pro because of his success , let’s be real he’s only started 6 games now , Nuss is a LSU lover and he knows a Natty is more likely next season as the defense improves , he’s gonna return
If he comes back...Underwood decommits. And to assume that LSU wins a natty if he does...is ridiculous. He needs to hit the road even if he isn't a first round pick. And cut the crap Matt...Nuss isn't winning the Heisman. And paleeeze...stop these ridiculous mock draft projections.Lets focus on making the playoffs.
I have a hard time believing Underwood would start over Collins and Hurley next year. BK seems to favor experience. Of course one or both might hit the portal.
Underwood is not going to sit for 3 years waiting for "his turn " like Nuss did.Since he's probably a lot more talented than Collins or Hurley..he would never sit behind either one of them.Or Nuss for that fact. These kids want to compete as freshman to start. If he is in fact the most talented QB since Burrow...Nuss better hit the road.Hate to see the other 2 leave...but since they are not as talented as Underwood..they can hit the portal. I personally don't like what college football has devolved into with the portal and NIL...but that's the reality.
Bk only really values experience if they are also the better option. If nuss left, there would be a competition and they will play whoever the best would be. And maybe that is rickie Collins’s, but it could be underwood if he is otherworldly. But all that is too soon to think about
@slanderpop8771 From everything I've read...Ricky Collins is not nearly as talented as Underwood. We'll know soon enough. If Bryce wins the job...then I think Ricky should transfer if he chooses.Noone knows how all this plays out. But Walker Howard left for Ole Miss thinking he could compete right away. He is still riding the pine after 2 years. He didn't want to sit behind Jayden and Nuss. But he can't beat out Jackson Dart. I don't know...but maybe he was overrated. Nobody knows until they hit the field week after week.
@rotaerceht687 That's easy. Look at his lineage. If there was ever an exception to the rule..it would be him.Next year it wouldn't surprise me.if he. Was a Heisman Trophy candidate. Obviously he is cut from a different cloth than the kids I'm referring to. And I respect him a lot.But that's just my opinion. Thanks for the response.
When Jayden won the Heisman, he had some luck with Jordan Travis breaking his leg. He was the QB that beat Jayden, and was the favorite for the Heisman the week he was injured. That same night he was injured, Jayden popped off against Florida. He took the lead because of those 50-yard scrambles for TDs, and never looked back in the Heisman race. Garrett really needs to not only keep the stats up, but also win the SEC since he doesn't have the rushing totals like Daniels, as you mentioned.
Bruh... if you could talk Nussmeier and Taylor to come back for 1 more year, and some of these other receivers that are having a good year, and Durham gonna keep getting better, and all these freshmen getting reps on Defense getting experience and getting better.... next year could legit contend for a natty. No question.
I’m with you on that. Only thing I worry about is the portal making it possible for Underwood to go to Oregon or somewhere like that where he can start and compete for natty
Mmmm if Nuss returns than Collin’s likely leaves. I think our offense is better suited for an dual threat QB it may not be Collin’s but we have some young studs coming in
If Nuss returns you easily could lose Collins or Hurley or both. They have every right to go someplace where they can play. And I don't want to risk a decommit from Bryce...who intends to see the field as a freshman. And if he is the highest rated QB we've ever recruited...let him compete as a freshman. Nuss can move on to the NFL.This isn't 10 years ago. These kids want to play now.I know that Brian knows this.Hopefully...the next great phase of LSU football begins next year.
Nuss needs to return to LSU, for himself and the team. To win a championship, the Heisman and the 1st overall pick. With that defense improving exponentially year over year, Nuss being a 5th year senior, and the weapons he will have reloaded around him, they will be a top 5 team all year. Lots of pressure. But very achievable. Plus those reps would be invaluable going into the pros. Look at JD5 and Burrow. Underwood won't be ready right out of high school, very, very few are ready for the SEC as true freshmen no matter how talented.
Nuss is likely gone. He will be losing his entire oline and starting wrs, but for the center. You can't discount that in his decision. There is no Nabors or BTJ on the roster for next year. Or will Cambell or Emory Jones. He does everything the NFL loves. No doubt 1st rounder. I would love to him back.
Nuss loves LSU too much to go to the NFL. He's going to come back for a fifth and final season. I sure hope LSU can put together a decent OL for him. The starting WRs will be Hilton, Anderson, and Parker.
Nussmeier Interceptions this season were very ugly they were thrown straight to defensive players with no offensive players on the screen , now that could have been receivers running wrong routes
Anyone hailing Nussmeier as a great QB hasn't watched an actual game, and is only going off of highlight clips. As an LSU fan and season ticket holder, I pray Nuss isn't playing with us next year.
