In my experience, quads are brilliant if you’ve got flat and wide roads/paths However, I live in Ireland where the majority of the roads are rough and uneven This is where I recommend inlines, I feel there is way more stability in the in lines Das my experience

Don't listen to Taylor (but his intention is great 👍🏻) . Two yos have no weight to carry, and no fear. Two year olds will always make adults look terrible, even on skis. The muscles will come. I started with soft boots because they were conformable but the moment I tried something on inlines that required ankle strength I got hurt, and planned to buy a pair of hard boots. I haven't done it yet but have been practicing strengthening drills instead. If I had normal sized feet, I might have started with hard boots. Most people can't justify buying or owning more than one pair of skates, and right now, many people can't pay rent. So if you can buy one pair, I'd suggest rollerblades because in many countries indoor rinks are still closed and quad skates are less comfortable on streets. Unless there's an outdoor hockey rink near you of course. Ultimately, as the main man in the video said, the skills are transferable. Inline, quad, ice, skating, and skiing, all use similar techniques.

@godjhaka7376
@godjhaka7376 3 года назад
Quads are easier to balance, you have 4 points of balance on each foot versus 1 like of wheels. Also beginners for inlines should get 4 or 5 wheels , not 3 to start. And yes anyone can skate. I see the 2 year olds taking lessons every week. Kids maybe more active outside with ankles than adults who watch tv lol

Great points about ankle strength and where the balance is on quads vs. inlines. I ended up buying a pair of both 'cause I wanted to try them. I still switch and am still deciding which I like best. For balance and ease, inlines are better for me, but the broad base of quads keep my feet from fatiguing as quickly. Dunno! They're both cool!

Gyzardo The Wizard Lizard I also hear that same opinion from quad skaters about inlines/rollerblades. Interestingly enough, I started on quad skates and thought the same about inlines at first... but have you seen me use inlines now? They’re an extension of my feet. There is no skate you cannot learn to become comfortable with. The only thing stopping us is an unwillingness to spend time as a beginner all over again after we are already good in one skate.

Deez Skates that is an EXCELLENT point, maybe one day in the future I’ll pull I mike Boyd and try to learn lol! Also! I feel the same about a skateboard! I am a ripstik rider which sways and flows gracefully, which is probably why I find skateboards too rigid and unresponsive. I’ve tried leaning and tilting the board to turn but it just won’t! I started inline skating at age 37. That was about a year and a half ago. My first pair of skates are still my go-to skates: my inline Rollerblade Macroblade 80ws ('cause I'm a chick - w = women's - although I can wear the Macroblade 80 unisex, too - just a skosh roomier on the sides). I also have a pair of skate park / aggressive inlines and now a pair of quads: Sure Grip Fames w/ Boardwalk outdoor wheels. My take: inlines may be safer for street skating, but quads may offer more versatility at times, with regards to jam / artistic skating. My biggest complaint with my outdoor quads is that they seem to be harder to stop in safely. I am having no trouble w/ the toe stop indoors; but outdoors has been tough. With toe guards, one of my toe stops fell off, so I may need to get blue Loctite or remove the washer or something. I'm also having slight stability issues while braking. These are basically non-issues for me with the inlines: the heel brake connects in a nearly impossible-to-fall-off-while-skating manner, and the braking position I think can support greater - rather than less - stability when skating forward. The two types of skates carve differently. The inlines carve through pressure in the heels and leaning the skates, which is reasonably smooth, but not as smooth as on my quad wheels, which do not require as much heel pressure. Because of wheel positioning, I've actually fallen due to the heel wheel being further in on quads! I've practiced manuals on inlines before I got quads, so the toe wheel position doesn't bother me that much. But, the heel wheel positioning required me to rethink my balance a skosh. I'm still learning to tiptoe on my toe stops. Try that for developing balance! It's a very practical quad skating skill for times when you have rough terrain or need to reasonably safely climb or descend objects like stairs or get out of a bowl from carving at a skate park (assuming you're wearing aggressive quads or otherwise skating in a relatively safe manner). I'm finding that for the most part, most of my inline skating training is transferring fairly well to quad skating. I'll admit to having a skosh of trouble with crossovers - I can't seem to get quite the same speed, but that may be for a variety of reasons, including smaller wheel size and inexperience in quads. I've also fallen more in quads, but I seem to be learning fairly quickly, too. Fwiw, I rolled both of my ankles years before I began skating, and I am not athletic by any stretch. I actually find my inlines to offer better ankle support, imo. For my next pair, I want to try an inline freeskate/freestyle/urban inline skate. I think that'll ultimately be my fave for outdoor tricks. I may come to appreciate quads for indoor tricks and jam / artistic skating. They seem to have enormous potential. Anyway, I hope that helps. = )

If you cant buy both then get inline because inline will give you more freedom in the long run. if you spend a lot of time with one pair of skates then you are gonna get good and dont want to be held back by the type of material or places you want to skate. Inlines are just more fun. tons of stuff you can do with them. skating indoors gets boring and you probably wont stick with skating if all you do is indoor. having the whole world as your skate rink is an awesome thing.

I got several pairs of both types, and each pair was like learning all over again. I started out with aggressive inline skates, because that's what I did when I was a teen in the 90s, but soon realized I was too old for that now. So I got a pair of k2 uptowns (because I rocked k2s back in the day.) And going from 65mm to 80s was scary! Then I found youtubers that were into slalom, and I wanted to learn that, but my k2s were big and bulky, so I got something more form fitting and learned how to ride a rockered setup. Then I went to a rink that had alot of shuffle skaters, and I wanted to learn quads, and bought a pair of derby skates. Thanks to running rockered, I was use to the lack of toe traction. But the wider foot base had me relearning simple maneuvers... and had me tripping over my wheels! O.o Then I found youtubers that did stuff like JB skating, and I wanted to learn THAT! And I noticed they all used high top quads, and heard they kept you on your toes better... soooooo I got a pair of them too... which had me relearning EVERYTHING AGAIN! X_x Now I have all these skates, and a ton of different styles I want to learn. But on the bright side, I can now swap between them all pretty seamlessly! ^_^ Just watch out, it can become an addiction. lol Quad setup is still something that intimidates me though, with various hardness of cushions, wheel profiles, truck tightness, etc. Inline are much easier in that regard, just choose your wheel configuration and go. But yeah, there are so many options, it all comes down to what you want to do, and what's available in your area. (Be it rinks, parks, etc.)

It most definitely does become an addiction! :) I can't do inlines...but...I just got my 8th pair of quads this past Friday. The first 7 are set up for various things, though. No having to bother with constantly changing wheels. 1 - for my closer indoor rink. 2 - for the indoor rink that's further away. 3 - street/sidewalk skating. 4 - indoor jam and shuffle. 5 - outdoor dance. 6 - outdoor courts, trails, slalom, and hill bombing, . 7 - skate parks. The newest pair is going to be set up for indoor speed skating once I can order the wheels and toe stops I want for them. (And already have plans for my next 12 - yeah, twelve - pairs! LOL) Only two of mine are an artistic style (high top) boot, the rest are speed/derby (low cut) boots. P.S. As for truck tightness, it's really about YOU. There is no "perfect" degree of tight/loose...it really all depends on how YOU feel comfortable while skating them. The "reflex" is *mostly* in the cushions, while the wheel hardnesses and sizes are for various forms/styles/places to skate. If you have specific questions, don't be afraid to ask....around RU-vid or at your local rink. Skaters are generally a pretty friendly bunch. We want you to enjoy skating as much as we do! :)

I've found inlines to be way easier to start on as the longer wheel base means I'm less likely to fall forwards or backwards. Inlines are less stable side to side but if you have a stiff, supportive boot it's less of an issue.

Thank goodness I didn't wipe out or fall, but came to the conclusion I am much more comfortable on Inline skates, thanks again for a great video! :)

I dont skate at all. Just looking into it, and i think the rollerskates have a really cool retro look, and as i dont like stiff "ankle support", i think rollerskates have an advantage there. But being forced to have my feet "flat to the ground" seems both "awkward" and "limiting", and the relatively short distance between the front and back wheels makes them seem much more difficult to not fall forwards or backwards... Also, if there are small stones on an asphalt road, the wide wheels of roller skates would hit a lot more of those than inline skates... Tri skates seems like the best tool for transport on asphalt and dirt roads (which is what i would want skates for), but im thinking maybe they are too difficult for me to start out with, so IF im gonna get something, it will probably be regular inlines...
@DeezSkates
@DeezSkates 4 года назад
Espen Haug For someone who doesn’t skate, you have made some very good observations here. You can rocker inlines to shorten the perceived wheelbase if you don’t wanna be flat all the time. And yes, inlines are a better choice for outdoor skating for the reasons you listed. Also, for customization, inlines take the cake in that area as well. You cannot easily swap plates on quads, but with inlines if you decide you want a different frame you just unbolt it and attach the new one, so they’re much more versatile there. You could easily pick a boot that you want with a 4x80mm wheel setup and then once you get used to that, replace the frame with a triskate frame and you save money from not having to buy a whole new skate package with a new boot. And don’t need a technician to fit and drill slots for the new frame like you would with quads.

I mean you can do with Quads long distances, too. You only should have the right Wheels. I think it's easier with Inlines to get over rough streets.... But on stability, I think both are easy. In Quads you have to get more weight shifting, so it's harder to turn around. But Inlines have this look, I hate. I don't think they look cool at all. I have Artistic Inlines (Snow White) and Quads. I started with quads when l was a kid. By the 20s l changed to inline. The reason was there was no good quality gear in quads unless you'd go for hockey stuff. Many years later l returned to quads for several reasons: 1-More comfy 2-l travel a lot because of work. Low-cut quads are a lot lighter and fit well in my luggage case. I wanted to enjoy all these European cities under my wheels when not working. So roler derby quads seemed the solution. 3- Girls like you more in quads than inline. And more now with all the vintage trend thing. To finish l made my own under-shoe-strap-on-quads. I had seen the Flaneurz but were too expensive and u have to use the same pair of shoes so, whats the point? I seek versatility. I took some good quality carbon plates, good wheels (kryptos from the 80s ultra smooth), cut a plastic base and screwed the plates to them. I put sandpaper like in skateboards and used 48mm safety-belt-straps to hold them to my feet. I used a strong-good quality velcro 48mm wide and created a system to hold my feet the strongest possible without getting my feet gangrened. I created something like the roller-derby-straps that some sites sell and on the sides and back small pieces of plastic to prevent my feet to slide out. I definitely suck at bricoworks but after several versions l came with something really cool. They are super light and can use them with my assics, shoes and anything with the same shaped soles. No, Dr Martens need a bigger plate but wouldnt use them anyway. That is the point, as Deez Skates say, find your way! Edited: You may say they wont be as strong as shoed roller skates or of course i lines BUT l can roller skate in the streets, Can do tricks, slalom, crazy legs and shite, l can use them in the subway/undorground and if some security guy tells me to remove them and blah blah in the matter of seconds they are in my tote bag. I can use them at the airport and that is THE perk!! I cannot run away from police or do 6 feet down the stairs jumps or agressive but l dont do that kind of things anyway. I wil create others with better materials when this pandemic ends, now l have no money😅 Take care!

I came to the conclusion that quads were a psy-op lol keeping women down. Growing up, the skate rinks gave the boys blades while the girls got the quads. Maybe it’s because I started with blades- but they always made some sort of deal out of me asking for the blades instead.

Great video. Especially like how easily you talk about both types on this and your other videos. Another great question is, do you like the Rollerball films, or feel like you'd like to try a sport that involves a lot of moshing to good music? Because, then quads and rollerderby, obviously :) P. I have not heard of this brand until now, but from a google search what I found I’m not a fan of. These are toys, not roller skates. If you’re buying them as your child’s first skates I’m sure they will be fine. If you’re an adult looking to get into skating I do not recommend them. Assuming you are in Europe (since this brand seems to be only available in Europe) I would have a look at Chaya skates.

I wanted to know if Hyper skater/Quad skater can beat a Inline skater in a race ?
@DeezSkates
@DeezSkates 3 года назад
Like all things it depends on the abilities of those using the skates. It’s not impossible for a quad skater to beat an inline skater, but the reality is that inlines are going to be faster most of the time, simply because they use larger wheels and have a longer wheel base, which allows for a higher top speed and longer stride.

A 4 wheel rockered inline skate is going to be closest.
