I think this system is to give the illusion that you can get it for free ( realistically cannot )

They need to receive as much sensible backlash as they possibly can. We need to show them that this is NOT okay!

I’m surprised Game Freak, Nintendo, and the Pokémon company aren’t stepping in, this cheapens their brand, Pokémon has good will and is known for being kid friendly, and this is not kid friendly.

I understand what Netherlands and Belgium are against this. It's made for kids, it's a kid game. And they are introducing such heavy mathematics deliberately so kids would fall in for their predatory practice. I completely support Europe, they can ask for money directly for a product, rather than pushing this gambling system.

The unfortunate reality is that countries like Belgium and the Netherlands have laws in place to protect people so that companies like this cannot take advantage of their customers, if the rest of the world passed laws like Belgium and the Netherlands I guarantee this would be a better game and gaming in general would be better

While The Netherlands (and Belgium) are more strict in lootbox mechanics our country is currently also in the progress of implementing laws that would require Timi to remove the entire gems system from the game. basically the law would say no systems are allowed that would remove the sense of people spending actual money (aka gems) on items and instead people should be able to purchase said items with actual money. also in that law package is more consumer rights advocating for people to have to be able to return items within a 14 day period for a (full) refund (in line with already existing dutch consumer laws). The thing is that The Netherlands is also trying to get these laws implemented through the European Union, which if it succeeds is going to be a real hell hole for Timi to respond to. But as a dutch player its been fun playing pokemon unite (while were still able to). its sad to see that all time and money i spend on this game is going to go to waste (i surely hope not being deleted) just because Timi wants to implement, keep and expand these predatory mechanics. Lets just hope we succeed in getting our laws approved in the European Union so Timi cant simply ignore an entire region. Id really hope youre not actually planning on removing this video as in my opinion Timi really needs to be called out on these terrible practices.

After booting Belgium and the Netherlands, it's kind of ironic the game's called Pokemon Unite. They should call it Pokemon Divide (due to predatory gacha).

The fact that this gacha system is predatory enough that they're pulling the game from two countries it was released in is INSANE. Like that's what should tell you their priorities, and how this might just be the beginning.

Yeah it's a shitty system with terrible rewards, but you still spent money. As bad as it might be, there's a lot of people throwing money at it because they just like the pokemon. Frankly I wish the world would follow Belgium's steps and crack down on loot boxes. They're just bad for everyone

Hopefully more countries adopt the laws like Belgium and the Netherlands that protect their gamers by banning gambling in video games. Thats the only way we will stop this from happening in the gaming world.

I stopped playing this game a long time ago, purely because I hated the events. They aren’t fun, they’re just predatory. And it’s a real shame, because the game itself is so fun.

It's the most convoluted and deceptive way to get players to pay for content in Unite so far. I'm a whale and I even think it's very poorly designed and implemented. They need to simplify it and make the costs more transparent.

Watching how upset Spragels got about this really made me take notice. You can really see how much this bothered him. It's as if the B-tier grew legs, showed up at his house, moved in and kicked him out of his own bedroom. Never apologize for speaking out about this stuff, Cowboy. Unite has been getting kind of nasty lately and they deserve to be called out for it. If people feel strongly about it, they could always pull an Ahri and just ban Sylveon every game...

Honest to god I hate the way cosmetics and battle passes work in 99% of games nowadays, but I agree. I'd prefer they just put up like 3 exclusive 100 dollar skins every season rather than having this bs in the game. Just be upfront about what you're trying to get and plenty of players will buy it. Devastating to be losing players to this.

The amount of micro transactions in Pokémon unite is really turning me off about this game.

Saved around 4k gems for this holowear, but after trying a couple of times opening the boxes I gave up, it's so shitty for a game to use this kind of system to unlock a cosmetic, I'll just spend the gem remains on bp or anniversary discounts if they don't plan to change their mind about this There are a lot of mobile games that have the minimal respect for their customers unlike Timi's clowns

I have been trying to get good enough to play in tournaments... But i guess as I live in the netherlands i won't be able to participate any more... I am not angery at the gambling law. I am angery at unite... Unite has genuinely been one of my favorite games I am one of those players who has been plaging it almost every day. I filled in so many servays... To try and help the game. I really hope they change some things. Please can we all try to talk to them.

This game has been maintained poorly up to this point anyways. Now that China is getting involved there should be more gacha situations in the future.

I actually think that gacha systems get a bad rap, and Pokemon Unite is FAR FAR from being a particularly bad example of it. However, this system does seem designed to waste your time AND designed to hide the true cost. It's misleading for F2P players but also antagonizing to whales (like spragels). It's just UNFUN.

Ive been in and out of this game so many times for so many reasons. I love pokemon and I love the game mechanics. Everytning else I feel like im playing inspite of... I dont play games to feel exhausted afterwards; I play them after im exhausted... This is just another small nail in the coffin for me

I spent maybe $20 in the beginning and haven't spent a dime since. Never will unless it's actually worth it. Theres another game I play that I'm definitely a whale for and it's a cute, little teashop game. Way more worth than this trash heap.

This game has been a joke for a long time, I cannot believe Jake continues wasting his talents on this game. I get that it doesn't really require any work anymore since no one else plays this game so he's the only content creator that gets any views. But he needs to leave this game so it can die properly and he can focus his efforts on a game that isn't developed by straight capitalist evil.

Luckily we have the option to just ignore the event entirely, which is exactly what I am choosing to do. The holowear is truly beautiful but the overall cringe-factor of what they are putting people through to get it seems to be a new low for timi.

I wish Tencent placed a bigger emphasis on getting more players. More players would help matchmaking which would make the game more fun, and then you might pick up a whale or two. As it is, I have wayyyy too many bot matches, so I would welcome new players or expanding matchmaking. A confusing system like this bugs me because I feel like the whole intent of this event is to gouge players who still like the game while shooting out a red flag to anyone on the fringe of the game. I can see where Belgium and the Netherlands are coming from: I don't like this practice at all, especially since I feel like the event's strategy isn't to create a better experience for the players. By the way, a better experience can be as simple as seeing the skin in play; on your team or on your opponent's. I'm all for rewarding the whales of the game. But this feels like its screwing the whales that support the game.

Pokemon Unite is fun, but after playing the beta for Dragonball Project Multi.... I can't wait for the full release and put Unite on hiatus for a while. Project Multi is just more action packed and fun! Hopefully Jake does Project Multi content too

The monetization is increasing but the value of the game has stayed the same. Unless we're getting the full CN version with bonus content, this is pretty awful. Also agreed with the bad box design, worse than the prize machine where you get nothing until the pity, now you have to work for getting nothing instead of "click the button". Really awful people losing their accounts for this, sucks man.

Hok had a gacha event . Way easier to get the legendary anime skin and it had other skins In the gacha including legendaries. It just feels Timi or whoever is taking advantage of the pokemom IP, let's be honest .

Dutch person here. I hate Timi now completely. Luckily I have a VPN but this is just so unbelievably stupid and frustrating! I’ve been playing this game for 3 years straight with one friend, grinding away every season! Timi what is wrong with you?!

easy fix for this scuffed ass system... make the rewards alot better the tickets and crap but also for those who don't just want tickets, make a couple other currencies to where you can buy old stuff similar to what appears on the prize machine or new cool items/holowear, but have it in an actual shop where you can use it to buy all types of holowear, special effects, maybe a currency for emotes in game etc. They can make like 3 different types then boom if people want that they can focus on that or if people want the enhancers coins etc let them choose that. Its quite simple and stop raising the god damn prices, rising the prices without adding more worth it rewards just seems like a slap in the face you are just gonna push more people away then the amount that will still buy I already see like a net 70% lost from the battle pass and month sub alone, I just came back to the game and was gonna start subbing monthly but was confused why the price dropped so now it just pushed me away and it looks like i wont be getting the battle pass anymore.

Not a fan of gatcha games mechanic, i prefer buying a game and having access to everything. Gatcha i just a way of gambling and gambling can be addictive which ruined many peoples lives.

This is the most egregious event ever. The fact TiMi took support offline for regions where lootboxes are banned rather than change the event is scummy. This is the scummiest thing ever and hurts the game

The problem is they aren’t appealing to logical brains. They’re predatorily appealing to the subconscious dopamine reward system. You get a spike on the screen BEFORE the rewards, the let down from the prizes only reinforces your addiction.

My Hero Ultra Rumble takes 6 months for a free to play person to get a character, or $600 for a whale to get it instantly. There are worse systems, but this is still very low

These cash grab games that get involved with China have some serious players investing. My buddy dropped $350 a month and still said that the top players put down way more than him and he knew it because the items he had were being slammed in comparison and they weren’t about skill level. There’s streamers that out down $25,000 in accounts just to see what would happen.

HOLD ON can't you exchange the tickets for the Holowear? I Calculated you would be close to 200 tickets without spending any gems. You could probably get the extra 100 with not many gems if you wait out the challenge......

One of the things I loved in this game for nothing was unreachable. I could invest more time and effort & I could unlock anything. But this new Selveyon holowear work made this game as shady as others which I didn't like at all 😢
