There is NOT a free option of self-publishing, it is a service you pay for. Expect to pay a less than $3k but I would ensure you have a solid marketing plan to get a return on your investment.
Thank you for this video. I am about to try publishing my book with them, but they are very expensive. Please tell me hw transparent they are with your sale on line ( Does the money goes to their account or yours) and have you made any profit so far?
Transparent. Besides the delay of sales (which would happen anywhere you go as there is a return period for books) you can see your sales. Additionally, you can see further details like where and how many sales, also you can decide which dollar increment you want your checks in (every $300 or $700, up to $999). Good luck!
How have your books done in brick and mortar stores? I am publishing my first book soon and am strongly considering BookBaby. Are the commissions fair? Thank you!
Hi there, books are not in brick and mortar stores but I think that’s more of a demand thing… if no demand then no inventory… commissions are based on your price point which you will see as you set your prices…. I have not had a bad experience with them so far! Hope this helps.
Hello, I cannot remember the package but I did line editing separately, did print and publishing with distribution. I did no marketing with book baby. It really depends on your end goal. I knew I wouldn’t be on the ground doing book tours so it was important for me to have digital copies. If you know you will be pounding the pavement at different events selling your copies and do not want to do an ebook right now, save the upfront cost and use your profit from book sales to do it later. Hope this helps.
