A smaller Version of lider with conventional power is what we need P18(NGD) is actually kinda same but problem is we take too much time to build warships and the biggest mistake is we build very less ships of a class

China cannot be counterd with imported weapons. It can only be counterd with s Domestically designed and produced weapons. Even if they are only having 50% capacity of Chinese weapons. As these weapons will be made in India. Can be produced with Indian industrial capacity both Pvt and public sector. And best of all 30% of the total cost of procurement will not be paid in license fee to the company and country for which it was originally procured.
When I heard this news two days ago that Russia stops the production of Lidar class destroyer from that point of time I was thinking that 1.5 bd is a very low price for such ship.. It comes with S500+S300+panstir system. It is nuclear powered.. How is this possible? If only with this systems it come 1.5 bd then india should buy at least 5/6 of this tipe destroyer..
Russian cost estimates are just numbers,one figure at starting & after escalation double at end. It wouldn't be any less than 2 billion dollars 1 billion for structure & fittings. 1 billion dollars for armaments & other fittings.

@@arnavnarayan2105 Yeah, to operate just two carrier strike groups, it will take about 4-5 destroyers which will leave another 5 to patrol the key locations of the Andamans-Malacca, the Gulf, the strait of Hormuz and the Southern Indian Ocean. By 2030, we will have a fleet of 23 Frigates, considering that the Gomati will retire and the Talwar and Nilgiri classes will be built so in that front we will do better as about 6-8 frigates will be needed for the carrier strike groups so we will have 17 frigates and 5 destroyers along with a decent submarine fleet as our regional fleet along with two carrier strike groups that will have blue water expeditionary capability. I think if we can produce about 2-3 more destroyers under the Vishakhapatnam class we should be good. Though I would say that India could perhaps look towards buying one of Russia's Kirov class cruiser 2nd handed as they are relatively unused and can be modified and upgraded in India itself. Most Indian ships as have been discussed do not have many anti ship/surface missiles as they are not intended for heavy strike role but a few ships like the Kirov could be needed in that role to give heavy maritime strike so I would be happy even to see 2 Kirov class ships being commissioned.

Admin..I have few queries:- 1. Can you iron anyone suggest some important points Naval Design bureau and if yes then how? 2. I strongly feel that we need to develop bigger MF-Star radar (mini aegis). 3. Our vessel needs to be more accurately designed to house more missiles as Chinese did in type52C and type54A+. 4. They need to be more versatile for multi role missions, especially for anti submarine role and AAD. We seriously lack punch in both of these. Our vessels can not with stand infront of barrage of missiles fired from enemy platforms. Our vessels have great punch for land attacks and anit ship missions. Same has been recognized world navies and experts.

India needs to ramp up its defense policy as well as it's economic policy... India currently have or builds like 7000ton to 9000 ton destroyers.. Which are fastly outmatched by china by their type 055 destroyer which are like 12,000ton.. Well if we keep in mind that India should have a stable plan where India can build it's own destroyers as well as frigates.. So what we need now is cruisers which are like large ships have high payloads, and long range radars.. They are like the primary defensive sheild as well as offensive strike for the carrier battle fleet group.. So in my personal opinion.. All the ships in 2040 for the Indian navy are India needs about 20 to 30 destroyers which are about 12,000 ton which have long range 1200km Bramos 2 missiles 8 to 10 Lider class Cruiser which are about 20,000 ton And 30 to 40 frigates which are about 7,500 ton to 9,000 ton... To note: are these are needed which India have a 3 carrier battle fleet as well as 4 helicopter carrier strike force
Yes. India should definitely buy this ship. It will reduce independent development time and cost. As India is still lacking clear path in defence strategy and development, it is very necessory to fast track purchases.
India should take this opportunity. We should go-ahead and acquire these destroyers. As these ar nuclear powered , some problems might come (same problem which comes in case of akula class submarine), we can go ahead and finance Russia to complete this project and then take it on lease for next 15-20 years. 1.5USD is nothing for this state of art tech. Our Naval design dept. ,have designed 5-9 kilo ton class of destroyers. Now they will move ahead and design 11-14 kilo ton class of destroyers. Still the gap of 18-20 kilo ton class is empty which can be filled by this class of destroyers.
Brittain has constructed 2 conventional type Aircraft Carriers instead of opting for nuclear powered one. Why? Nuclear powered ones are, although versatile, it has it's own disadvantages also.
I think we can develop our own ship of same class. INS Arihant is a nuclear powered submarine developed by india it have displacement of 6,000 tonne. Same size of nuclear reactor can be fitted in a 20,000 tonne ship
It would be wiser not to have Nuclear powered ships. We already have capable destroyers like Kolkata Class etc., We can slowly build bigger class of such destroyers and Cruisers and we can build more of it.

India should develop compatible nuclear powered destroyers indigenously. Since future destroyers will have high power hungry railguns & laser weapons it is imminent India develop miniaturised nuclear reactor technology as we can't buy 30-40 destroyers from abroad as that may be financially not feasible.
Such destroyers are White Elephants which sink the Indian Navy by its budget. It makes more sense to the US Theodore Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier or the contaminated French Aircraft Carrier which can be fumingate & decontaminated in the high temp at the Indian Ocean for lower cost &=Wet lease them Like INS Chakra & recommission as INS Vishal. NO... In the state of current technological advancements. You need to study the different kinds of computer security issues. They are hardware and software. While software security issues can be resolved with a through purging and the writing of your own software. The Hardware security issues can become a serious problem if you ever have a problem with either Russia or China. In which just the removal of certain chips can alter or completely disable functionality. People who are in the know already knows this. We can not compare our Kolkata class and vizag class destroyers with Chinese New type 55 destroyers coz both are of different categories... But we can compare it with Chinese type 52D class destroyers bcoz of same displacement...but in this category also out latest kolkata and vizag class destroyers are only armed with 48 vls( 16 brahmos and 32 barak 8 ) as compared to Chinese type 52D destroyers which are equipped with 96vls.... why our destroyers are always under armed????
