Russia has invaded another contestant‘s country and has been sanctioned by the EU (amongst others) and has resolutions against it by the UN. There are also travel restrictions for Russian Nationals. The EBU is a broadcasting union. It does not nor should it judge the actions of another country. It has to react to an embargo though because those are legally binding.

As soon as I knew they weren’t banning Israel. I knew I’m not watching this year I don’t have much but I’ve bet on Israel at 35/1 and if they win I won’t watch it next year and my winnings will be getting denoted to Medical Aid for Palestinians.
With so many boycotting because of Israel’s entry, imo, primarily pro-Israel people will watch and will skew the votes towards them. Could be because people just think she’s the best, but I doubt it

This didn’t start on October 7th the Festival attendees were literally metres away from people living in squalor and deprivation, existing under apartheid rule.
The most powerful protest might be for the audience to remain silent after the Israeli singer's performance in the final. Thereby showing no particular personal disrespect to the singer herself (i.e. not 'booing' her), but at the same time making about as strong a statement to the EBC as it's possible to do.
I wholeheartedly support this approach, although the problem is that the broadcasters would still feel inclined to dub a cheering crowd track at the end of the performance, as they did during the semi-finals. I don't particularly care for booing this performer. As much as I abhor what Israel is doing right now, I feel bad for the singer. That said, only by booing, and essentially 'drowning out' whatever type of track the broadcasters dub over the audience response, will the audience's opposition be recorded.
I really don't get the " Euro-vision is non political" argument for Israel being allowed to participate. You just cant equate it with Russia not being allowed to compete. you either are a-political and have both or stand up to war and have neither. Both have killed tens of thousands of civilians Both have committed war crimes Both are using civilian access to basic human necessities as a means of conflict Both target civilian infrastructure Both act with disregard for civilian lives Both don't practise adequate press freedoms or free speech Both are causing the enduring displacement of millions of people Both frequently lie to justify their actions If you're being a pedant Russia's war is one of aggression where as Israel's is (at least initially) defensive against Hamas, but that is the dumb since Israel has killed hundreds in the west bank, and that isn't Hamas controlled and they carry out strikes in foreign countries (also not Hamas controlled). The net of a defensive war can only be cast so wide before it is a meaningless statement. Personally I think there should just be a rule that: a nation cannot compete if they are being investigated for war crimes in an ongoing conflict.
Why is Israel entitled to vompete in a Euro competition in the first place? Bc Israel isn't really a Middle Eastern nation they are American and European Interlopers who believe they are entitled to any and everything that isn't theirs
Hearing "October the 7th" as a justification for war crimes is getting tiresome. Atrocities are not justification for atrocities - the oppression of Gazans does not justify October 7th. October the 7th does not justify collective punishment of an entire population. All peoples have a right to defend themselves but they SHOULD be held to account for HOW they do it. Israel currently stands in defiance of an ICC interim ruling. The suspension of arms shipments and disqualification from international events is wholly appropriate.
Many viewers dont justify what Hamas did on 7 October, but this does not mean we cant understand Hamas. This is like asking Russian soldiers in 1944 to respect german lives.

Isn't it "shocking" that the West's flavour of the year will win Eurovision. They gave it to Ukraine in 2022, and you can rest assured that the Israeli singer will win it this year. This was a foregone conclusion before the contest even started.
As an Israeli, the conclusion you are talking about was so far from reality and still is. No one thought Israel was going to win it, and still isn't favorite to win it. And it doesn't even matter if Eden will win or not. It definitely not scripted as you are trying to make it sound.

Eden Golan seems a lovely person and a talented singer. Problem is though, we cannot listen to her without thinking about Israel's deliberate refusal to allow food into Gaza. It's not a song that matters. it's thousands of civilians starving.
I support Israel being able to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest and perform their song about 7 October on *one condition* . That Gaza be inducted as a member of the contest, and thus allowed to present their own song regarding the airstrikes. Otherwise, it's just one-sided propaganda, and that isn't right.
If Russia can't take part, neither can Israel or Ukraine. This whole show was a political exercises and nothing to do with music or anything to do with Europe.
It looks like the public vote (tele vote) Israel received 323 points which is the second highest. 12 of those points were from the UK. So Israel were obviously very popular
It's not just a song contest where you're represetning your own talent. You're a representative a COUNTRY, therefore, Israel should be banned (doesn't matter who represents it) because as a country they are comitting war crimes OR let's bring back Russia to Eurovision, we need to be consistent at least.
To claim that the location of Israel is a red herring is ridiculous. It’s called “Euro vision”, they are not from Europe. Considering adding Australia is also absurd. They should just change the name to “White Vision”, I believe that would be more fitting 🤦♂️
