I'm an a old man but visited Lebanon in 1968 as a teenager with my parents. It was a rich, dynamic and peaceful paradise of the Middle East. The people there were incredibly friendly. Beirut was jammed with tourists. Food was great, the girls were stunning and there was a natural easiness about being there. My mom bought a bunch of jewelry. My dad played cards with new friends at the hotel pool. I wanted to live there. A few short years later I saw pictures of the hotel we stayed at. It was completely destroyed by war. That was Arafat's legacy. He sowed death and destruction everywhere he set up shop. He made the "palestinians" the most dreaded guests in the Arab world. He died a billionaire. His people still honor his memory. Go figure.
