Israel and Iran have been in a proxy conflict for decades, but it escalated to a new level this year during the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Now, with rising tensions and new rocket strikes by Iran and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, which is allied with Hamas, world leaders are watching closely and wondering if Israel should take military action against Iran. Those who believe Israel should attack Iran argue that the country is an existential threat to Israel’s existence. Iran has been growing as an influence in the Middle East, and their support of organizations such as Hamas and the Houthis causes increased destabilization across the region. Those who believe Israel shouldn’t attack Iran say doing so would further expand into a regional conflict, diminish the possibilities of future peace negotiations, and strain Israel’s relationship with key allies.
With this context, we debate the question: Should Israel Strike Iran?

Not only will you find many quotes from U.S. officials going back 3 years literally saying weeks, you can find things as far back as like 2016 when Hilary said Iran was weeks away already before Obama and her made a deal.. so yeah, we've been hearing "weeks" for at least a decade or so

literally everyone accepts Israel will strike- including iran...whether they should r not is a different question, what would the point in that debate be? other than you clutching your pearls. This debate was about how they should strike. Iran event said they will accept a strike and not retaliate if it is not an escalation. so the question was should israel escalate or simply retaliate. what pills are you on? i want some.

Michael is so driven by his desire to hit Iran that he is completely indifferent to the price the Israeli civilians would have to pay. But that position is hardly surprising when the political elite are well protected, and it's someone else who pays the price. It's either this entitlement or childish immaturity or perhaps both! My sympathies to the civilians in the region.

You have a point, but at the same time, your view seems to miss the fact that Israel has suffered the most from a world that has sat back silently while Hezbo were allowed to amass an insane amount of balistic missiles and other weapons at their doorstep, and Iran has been allowed to get so close to achieving a nuclear weapon, and even the one effort that the world did, failed because it was not only far from enough, but it did not even attempt to stop the Iran regime from inciting terro wris im in the region. Ultimately the world since at least Obama, set in place system of Appeasement which was bound to lead to what we are seeing today. We need responsible diplomats with practical solutions.

@@JeSuisunHumain-222 Thanks for your comment. My point here is Michael's thinking is purely driven by anger with no consideration for the consequences for the Israeli civilians. As you explained in your comment, the anger is understandable and there is no debate about that. But this anger seems to have clouded his judgement or perhaps he thinks the consequence for the Israeli civilians is a price he is willing to pay. Quite plainly, mad man, willing to burn his family down if that burns down his enemy in the process.

I am sorry but didn’t Isreal make an attack on an Iranian embassy I.e. an attack on Iranian sovereign soil first. Also when American becomes a non nuclear power then they can have the right to comment on another countries nuclear policy. Maybe America should take a long hard look at themselves before they go lording it over others.

Israel has the advantage. Of the 18 million people, 75% are Palestinian, Arab Jews. Iran's hundreds of thousands of rounds can only attack 5-6 locations. If the military is in danger, they can go next to the West Bank.

The question in my mind is that while there does come a time when 'consequences' are the only effective response, I fail to see the sincere effort by Israel for negociated disarmament and an attempt at peacemaking. So I am therefore conflicted in what I feel about this situation. I could actually argue both sides. But it is difficult for me to see a solution where it is obvious to me that both sides share great wrongdoings. Both sides of this 'debate' need a moderator, as it were. And none appears to be appearing on the horizon. So I am grateful that, and just to say I highly respect your attempt, someone is trying to get conversation going that is more civilized and less subject to the vagarities of inaccurate and inflamatory speech. First thought before watching the debate. Why would you do this to your self again... Second thought. No Israel shouldn't attack Iran. Iran was saving face by attacking the last time. They did little to no damage. Don't male this worse than it has to be. Don't be the aggressor of a three front war.

The facilities most definitely should be struck. That doesn't necessarily mean one single bolt of lighting and job complete. Accurate intelligence, use of munitions specifically tailored for that eventuality, kept secret of course and never publicly exposed. IAF has been training towards that eventuality for years, dedicating tremendous resources. It may require sustained waves but definitely achievable in my opinion. I respectfully disagree with Shira. Simply because she has very limited knowledge regarding capabilities. In fact very few people do - which is pretty safe to assume. Once again, it's all about the unknown capabilities, rather than forming a position based on the known. And we've definitely seen these capabilities do factually exist. That said, she's clearly very concerned and I can totally empathize. But fear leads to confusion and miscalculation. Impossible to achieve strategic gains coming from that approach.
