My grandfather left Iran a long time ago, and I grew up in Central Europe, in Hungary. He always told me, “Be grateful that we can be here. Never forget what this country has given us.” Yet, I know his biggest dream has always been to return to Iran, to see it one last time before he dies. A few days ago, I caught him crying while reading the news. I had never seen him cry before. When I asked what happened, he said, “The idea of getting rid of this regime feels so close.” He was imagining the happiness and hope that a free Iran could bring. I sat next to him and listened as he opened up for the first time about the horrors he endured as a Persian Jew under the Islamic regime. So much pain, so much darkness. It’s a heavy burden he’s carried for years. I truly hope that with Israel help, this regime will fall, and we can build a brighter future for the generations to come. They deserve better. Humanity deserves better.
This is also our prayer. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recent address to the Iranian people, along with the rightful Shah’s message, seemed to indicate to me that the time is even sooner than we think.

I'm Australian and for my entire life (I'm 61), I have been SO confused about what's going on in what has been referred to as the Middle East. My general perspective is that its a dog's breakfast (Aussie slang I believe) - and I mean no insult - only that it appears to be one great big ongoing mess. I don't know that I'll ever get to the bottom of it but this interview has shed light on some of the exceedingly long term issues in that region. Australia seems such a young, ignorant country. It's very simple for anyone sincerly trying to understand the conflict , there are more than 40 thousands American troops in the middle east and almost all of the rulers are American puppets that DO NOT represent the interests of their people but only the survival of their own rule combine that with Israel the largest American aircraft carrier in the world, the genocidal entity, the most dangerous threat to the survival of the human race" look up the samson option". This entity is meant to destabilize the region to prevent it from gaining independence and controlling its resources. One year after Oct 7 events Israel responded by carrying out a genocide in Gaza where estimates indicates more than 100 thousands people killed most of them women and children.
Fascinating discussion, what I heard confirmed further what I have come to understand as the situation. I have listened to both sides of the argument and like Konstantin Kisin from Triggernometry, I have certainly found out the side of the argument I have taken. It's a pity many of these so-called intelligent university students don't take time to fully study all sides of the debate, rather than blindly pick their idea of who they think is the victim, who in actual fact is the Jewish side who is being victimised.
"Necessity is the mother of invention" according to Plato. I was impressed with Naftali Bennett in the interview, he came across as a highly intelligent, pragmatic man with genuine humility. He was thinking about ways in which Israel could do better, how it could find solutions. Good section in which he and Dr Peterson discussed the history of the Jews and the years in the desert. This was one of the best interviews with a politician that I've heard. It shows that politics needs more men and women who have done well in another job first, rather than the career politicians who start out in student politics and often only care about winning the argument, crushing the opponent. Such people have rarely lived in the real word and are woefully out of touch with the electorate. Israel always gets judged harshly but we have to imagine ourselves living in a state with hostile neighbours on three sides, of course you would have to be on permanent war footing. Jewish people have always punched above their weight - eg the large number of Jewish Nobel Prize winners - and non-Jews need to emphasise learning and civilised debate amongst the younger generations, well any generation really ! About 20 miles south of where I live there's an Orthodox Jewish community and some of them drive up here to walk in the local park. The families often have four, five or six children, usually English-speaking but you do hear Yiddish sometimes. The families have plenty of conversation and the children are well behaved. Given the size of the Orthodox Jewish families in Israel (I've seen documentaries telling of anything from six to sixteen children!), it was interesting to hear Naftali Bennett say the overall average in Israel comes out at three per family, with replacement population rate at 2.2. Great interview, thanks to you both.

I am so glad you invited Naftali Bennett on the first anniversary of October 7, dearest Dr. Peterson. I have spent the day in mourning and remembrance. Long ago, I vowed to the Jewish people the words I learned from my namesake: “Thy people shall be my people, and thy God, my God. I didn’t know what the IDF was or how to find Israel on a map. I didn’t know what to make of Bibi Netanyahu although I had grown up seeing him on the news. Suddenly Bennett is EVERYWHERE and is almost only talking about Iran. Also other Israeli talkers are now preparing targeting Iran. I have a lot of sympathy for Israel's struggles against the surrounding terror groups, but this does smell a lot like the public's preparation for Iraq invasion around 2003. You are right and it will not end in a good way for Israel if they dont act wisely. Nuklear facilities are underground and not easy to destroy, and within a week Iran builds an a-bomb. I have just finished the Daily Wire section. Because I have been devouring all the info I could cram into my brain for the past year, not much in this podcast was new to me, but it did shed light on some of the more troubling op eds in the Jerusalem Post. While I certainly respect and like Naftali Bennett, I thank God again and again that when the hour of crisis came, it was Bibi who was prime minister. Over the past year, Bibi’s leadership has earned my respect and my love. It takes a real leader to hold the country together as Bibi does and to be, by turns, terrifying, adorable, admirable, and wiling to admit when he has been wrong. If you're Iranian reading this, tell me and please don't be biased. You may hate the government, but try to be unbiased in answering it: What percentage of the people do you think are actual Muslims? I suspect that Persians are a lot more western that we in the west think.
Based on the latest data, 40 percent are Muslims. I would say that is actually an over representation in that data. I'm Iranian, and if I could guess, around 30 to 40 percent are Muslims. Cities like Tehran are very much secular cities if you exclude the government officials and religious police force. Border cities, especially Baluchistan and Khuzestan, are more religious, and they are Sunni Muslims.

That's a fair estimate. A real census is not possible in Iran as long as the Islamic republic is in power. Iranians have historically been more pro-modernity than many in the region. More than four decades of extreme religious rule has made them even more secular. Even the majority who would call themselves nominally Muslim are against the Islamic regime and forcing Hijab and other religious rules. A free secular Iran benefits all Iranians: Muslims, Atheists, Women, Minorities, or any other group who is currently being suppressed under the Islamic regime's rule.
i saw a poll recently that compared how many Iranian actively prays( means they pray 5 times a day) in 1976 ( before revolution and now) it was 90 percentage back than and around 30-40 percentage nowadays. personally as a Iranian i think its a about 30-40 who are true devoted muslims. but among those again 10-15 percent are whom against radical islam and also based on recent election in iran we can estimate about 7-9 millions people are supporters of regime so we can say they are minority

I work with two Iranians in a supermarket. Both seem to believe that the Iranian people are not on board with the regime. One is a Baptists and told me she could only express her religion underground.

I’d like to add to the discussion on the judiciary reform. The fundamental idea behind the reform is valid, but the real issue lies in Israel’s lack of a formal constitution and the way the government is intertwined with the Knesset, where it holds an automatic majority. Implementing this reform without addressing these structural concerns would effectively dismantle the checks and balances on the government. The reform itself is needed, but it should only happen after the establishment of a constitution and a restructuring that fully separates the government from the legislative body-an essential feature of any true democracy

Within the first 5 chapters of the Quran, you can see Islam criticism of Judaism and Christianity. However, the Quran does not provide a story narrative but rides on the Israelite Torah teachings of the origins of humanity and subsequent stories. It appears not to be a stand alone belief system. It requires the Torah.
