If they’re criminals absolutely shouldn’t be keeping in touch

An annoying thing is when the fans still consider those idols that are criminals, with the group. Like, what's with those EXO OT12 stans? What. The. Fuck.

imo, if the members really want to keep in touch they can, just preferably in private but they need to UNDERSTAND what the ex member did was wrong. but it is their own choice at the end of the day

@@Kais_Peaches wait. What was the case with Exo? I haven't even seen them as a full 12 members group since i am pretty much sure they promote as like 8-9 (?) for last five years at least. But i don't remember anything happening within this lineup

@@noidea5927 K**s Wu is in prison for very fucked up crimes. I do not want to talk about it here, as I find it very triggering. I would suggest looking up a video essay on the subject becsuse I find those to be an easier way to consume information 👍

It's really case by case for me. Do I mind if iKON members mention B.I? No. Would I mind if a Big Bang member mentions Seungri? You bet.

That word allowed is where it's all wrong. These are adults y'all they don't need permission from anyone to associate with who they like. Regardless of what management did to them some had good friendships and bonds with their members. Who are we to tell them to stop talking to each other regardless of what happened to them?

Yeah I find it weird when some people think they have the authority to decide whether idols should still keep in touch with their ex group mates. Of course, if the ex groupmate left due to criminal reasons, then the group should stay the hell away from them. But if in the case of Wonho and Monsta X, then they both shouldn't worry about keeping each other in touch. I honestly hate it when that one Monsta X member had to apologize for choosing to keep in touch with Wonho.

So about gidle, I would like to add that prior to soojin leaving the group she said ( i believe on a Livestream) that Marilyn Monroe is her role model. And also soojin's birthday was spotted in their music video for the song revenge.
@HakuMata_Snacks

There are just too many songs and talks referencing to Soojin to be just coincidence. Their B side songs in I Never Die, for example Escape and Villain Dies, seemed to be a reference to her also. Also, Soyeon’s my bag rap in MAMA. How red 5 diamonds are referring to her members (including Soojin). I am very positive that they are still friends behind the scene anyway.

It's definitely very difficult for the idols to separate from the group members when you consider they will have grown up with each other. Bobby and B.I. competed on a show together, produced music together and have known each other since they were about 18 - that many years of connection is hard to remove.
@AlyDia2
@AlyDia2 3 месяца назад
If they’re going to continue to hang out behind the scenes anyways(eg monsta x) or miss the member and refer to them(gidle and some of girls generation do this). Often not talking about why members left and just leaving fans and the gp to make up stories would be more difficult than saying they left because of x and having that just be the end of the conversation. If the member did something illegal I would expect them to at least not associate with them and not talk about them.

I don’t think it should be a question of being allowed, because they are their own people. If they want to, then yeah they should because no one should be ~allowed~ to tell them no. Now, in certain cases where the ex member has been proven to have done something awful and current members still choose to associate with said ex member then people are allowed to express their displeasure. But no one should have control over what these people do and who they associate with.

I’ll just shorten my opinion to this: If it’s to the level of like Seungri’s case as in criminal (with the exception of MJ cause those charges are ridiculous compared to how sex charges in SK are lax as hell) or DUI’s

Why do some kpop fans think they own these peoples lives. Just because you bought an album or tickets to a concert doesnt mean you are ENTITLED to thier private lives, who they date, their friends, if they smoke, or anything they do off camera. Just watch the videos and live your own life. Its unhinged.

I feel like this is true for even if the person is a criminal how are you going to decide who someone supports or is friends with. Of course they aren’t going to associate with someone who did a crime but still who are you to tell someone to forever stop talking to someone they’ve known for 5/10/15 years . Of course it’s not smart to publicly support them but I’m just saying .

Honestly, if they are criminals, then no. Of course if its drugs (weed or meds like park bom needed) then no but if they are like the big bang member who I won't name but was in the burning sun scandal then no. If you stay friends with a person like that then you are just as nasty as them. Now if it was false bullying like soojin then i think the girls should talk freely with her!

it really depends on the situation honestly and I feel like at the end of the day, we're not the ones deciding if they should still talk or not. They could all still be talking off cameras and we wouldn't know at all

I think it depends on why the person left. For Wonho and B.I., I don’t think that what they did was so awful (not saying they were great people in those circumstances), it was stuff that they can grow and be better people from goin forward. If they are able to show that they’ve grown as people then I don’t really care whether or not their members associate with them. But if we’re talking about people like seungri or hyuna’s bf where they were kicked from their groups for enabling r@pists, and their members still choose to associate with them, then that’s an indication of who their members are as people.

Each situation is unique. What should happen, but doesn’t, is that we should hear the other side of the story. This immediate assumption of guilt is terrible. For example, how Johnny Depp got fired from Disney and whoever makes the Harry Potter (Fantastic Beasts) movies based on an accusation made by his ex-wife in a newspaper article in which she did not even name him. The trial revealed that she was actually not only emotionally abusive but also physically abusive to him. I have no examples from K pop because I am a new fan. Thank you for the video and for looking at both sides. And for encouraging viewers to write comments. If your mature attitude were adopted by more K pop fans, it would be a better place! 🙏🧡🍀

Dear yoongi thank you for another great video. I don’t think that this is a black and white topic. Rule of thumb we should extend grace and let the idols be people and decide for themselves if they still want to be friends. Of course if the controversy is big enough contract are a good way to sever ties.

This topic! I am always somewhat torn because imo it is always case by case basis. It is usually generally taken that most members left the group due to controversy, this member left in order for public not to associate the brand of the group with that said controversy. That being said, years after the controversy has died down, probably new findings has proven that the said idol was not guilty, it is still very tricky to gauge how the public would react to that idol interacting with the members of their old group. Especially from how the companies management see it, there is no need to take any potential damage to group’s brand by letting them interact. As simple as that.
@chefcinnabutter

I think context is everything. They are people, and they can associate with whoever they want, but it's up to fans to decide whether they want to continue supporting the artist. If it's a small issue like with B.I., then i think most people wouldn't care. However, I think if members of Bigbang started associating with Seungri, then I think most people would be disappointed.

I agree it depends on the the circumstances and severity of the situation of the member/members who left. Also, I believe idols should be free to make their own decision on the matter anyway. Thank you for another insightful video, Fran. This was a topic that needed to be covered. 💟😊✌️

Here is my take on this. This question can not be answer with a simple "yes" or "no." Instead, we need to look at a few things. First, how close were the members to the ex-member? If the answer is "Very close," then they should be allowed to interact with one another. If they were not that close, then they maybe shouldn't interact, especially if they disliked one another. The next thing we need to look at is what kind of person this ex-member is. If this person is a good person and influence, then yes. If not, no. What do I mean by this? Well, if the ex-idol is kind and treats people with respect, then yes. Interaction should be allowed. If this ex-member is rude to people, then no. The last item relates to the kind of influence the ex-member may be. If the ex-member encouraged the group members to be better people and learn from mistakes, then they should interact. On the other hand, if the ex-member indulged in nefarious activities and encouraged the others to do the same, then the answer is a definite no. They don't need that kind of influence. Not only will involvement in nefarious activities be bad for their careers, but it will also affect them personally.

Where do people think Ravn & Oneus lie in this spectrum?
@ancientmingyu0604

Friend of mine (who was a massive Oneus stan) showed me an interview after Ravn's departure (he was her bias) and specifically Leedo and Hwanwoong were throwing some very cleverly concealed shade at Ravn which led my friend to unstan and which led me to not dive further into the group and, as far as I've heard, they doesn't seem to be contact between Ravn and the members at all. I don't know them enough to have an opinion but my friend is a very rational and level-headed person and when she cuts Oneus out of her life after what was said in that interview, you better belief I'm keeping my distance to them as well.

Yes: if the idol didnt do a crime or heavy scandal and this idol was essential to the group, be it as close friend to the members or for the history of the group like songwriting and producing. Most groups have work type of relationships, they arent that close, specially if the group is a rookie, has many members or is formed by a reality show.

I think more than anything I always walk away from these types of videos mostly just kinda idk. I wish international fans mindset held more weight. But I get it it’s ‘K’pop (despite all these ceos begging to take ‘k’ out of the genre name lmao but anyways). So of course the Korean gp opinion will always matter most. But it just feels like no matter how international fans feel about something idols are at the behest of knetz. ie the Karina dating controversy/scandal thing. Like that was/is crazzzzyyyyy. And the fact that knetz were calling HER a national embarrassment when in fact what was embarrassing was that her apology was just drawing international general news attention to how unhinged knetz can behave sometimes…..girl.. Anyways not saying we shouldn’t discuss or that making these vids is a waste of time, I love ur vids, just saying lol. My thoughts more generally on the issue lol.

I have the same opinion, I did with Hyuna. I life on another continent. I don't know them in private or do I live with them. So who am I to judge people I don't know? They are humans just like us. So one way or another they gonna make mistakes just like us. And I also have my own problems so I am not gonna care about people, I don't know, making personal choice I do not agree with.
