This makes me mad b/c this would NEVER happen if this was the men's tournament. Caitlin Clark and Iowa don't even want to go as the losing team. These girls are competitive and ballers and it's not just a disrespect to the winning team, but to the losing team too. It's like a participation trophy for a 5 year old league.
I could see Jill Biden's intent, but she erred for two reasons. 1.) It's an insult to female competitors, as if they have to be treated with kids gloves for their advancement. They're still competitors at heart, even if they want to push Women's athletics forward. And 2.) The obvious sentiment that Rich didn't really want to get into and chose the political route instead, which was, if the roles were reversed, would Jill Biden be saying the same thing? And I mean, she possibly could. But the optics are horrible and the suspicion among fans is not without reason given our nation's history.
They do this with black valedictorians. When they win they make them share it with caucasian kids. America made them SOFT. They can't take losing to us. They change the rules after
I think it has more to do with the explosion of the game this season. Caitlin, and by extension Iowa, has been a huge reason for that. Plus the resounding record breaking she was doing is unreal. I’d tend to agree that only winners should go, but it does seem like a bit of a different case than usual. It doesn’t seem like anyone is going though. So, it doesn’t matter.
Angel Reese: "Iowa are losers who don't deserve to go to the White House." And you Angel, are a narcissistic, egotistical, entitled, disrespectful, rude, antisocial dbag who doesn't deserve to go to the White House.
I hate race baiting but you definitely have a point, we supposed to cry and feel bad for the poor little white girl 😂😂😂, play better next time is what she gotta do
Hell if Iowa would have won they would have been the best women's basketball team ever and of course they would have been invited to the white house commercials talk shows none stop publicity for the rest of the year Catlin would have been Americans sweetheart shoe deal and AT&T commercials LOL Wheaties you name it she'll would be there
The super bowl just passed did Jill invite the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House since they Lost to Kansas city chiefs? Just throwing that out there..
The craziness to all of this is that the sanest person seems to be Caitlin Clark who basically defended Angel Reese and mildly said losers shouldn't go to the White House.
The mere fact that the optics seem to look like Dr. Jill Biden is catering to Iowa Women's Basketball by inviting them to the White House strictly for a political advancement in 2024's national election (in the state of Iowa, in particular) is gross and dishonest. Kudos to Angel Reese for shouting her out HER president and asking Michelle Obama if they could celebrate the championship in their house!
South Carolina women's basketball team had an excellent season how come they are not invited as well. Just saying if you are going to invite teams who played great basketball.
Rich you are right. This is not being American it’s called common sense. Iowa did not win the championship it was LSU. These LSU women deserve recognition for the hard work they did.
They did. They got confetti, a Trophy, a ring & bragging rights. BOTH teams made a great push & the coin fell in LSU's favor. BOTH teams were NOT the Favorites yet they managed to draw the fans & viewers in record numbers & attendance. Seems likes a GREAT time to CELEBRATE GREATNESS by BOTH TEAMS even if just 1 time. Trust me not as bad of an idea than a phucking SPACE FORCE.... Just saying.
Iowa should Immediately put out a "Polite" denial of a request. Stating that the Winners Tradition visit should continue. It would show Respect for LSU and the Game. Not everyone needs a participation trophy, so to speak.. By now I've posted, hopefully it has already happened. ✌️All..
@@dougpettepier2818 - Thanks for that info. That was exactly the way this should be handled....Iowa decline something not earned. I have much more respect for Bluder after taking this action. Sad that Jill Biden would open her mouth with such an unprecedented, insulting remark after LSU's dominant 17-point victory.
@@waldolydecker8118 you see dominant, but that may just be your inner LSU showing. Many others around the country see the game for what it is. A ref show where the stars of both teams had to sit out or have their hands tied. Scores like this are pretty easy to foresee then.
Tell her husband to invite the last president to the white house and give him a participation award for trying so hard and being competitive. See how tht plays out.
Every team that made the tournament should get invited. That way everything is equal, nobody is above anybody else, and their accomplishments will mean nothing.
Iowa shouldn’t be allowed to go to the WH at all now or later unless all these losing teams should be allowed to visit the WH because they were also responsible for “growing women sports” and the viewership spike this year. Iowa got embarrassed, demolished, and outclassed by LSU. Game wasn’t close. They don’t have to be afforded a visit to the WH to further grow Womans basketball. That’s ridiculous!
@@mikemiller4726 I care because right is right & wrong is wrong. If LSU who had the black team with the star black player would have lost especially lost by 17 points to the white Iowa team with the star white player she would not have invited LSU. What part of this do you not get? Are you that insecure to call a spade a spade. Obviously you are because you don’t want to admit white privilege is a problem when the facts are in your face. Stop it!
Jill screwed this up it wouldn’t even feel right if LSU even decided to go. Just wait until next season because it’s going to take a year to get over this..
Im all for both teams going. Heck i think they should both share the trophy. In fact they should just have no score in the game so both teams win. This sounds great.
I think Jill may have felt a certain way because Angel Reese said the first lady was at the game and she wanted to see the teams before the game and LSU declined.
The sport of women's basketball has been handed a gift. Men's college and pros have created an apathy amongst their fans. The opening is right now. Serena Williams has retired and their is no soccer world cup to compete with. The olympics are still a little ways off as well. This is your moment. You can have a reality show that has heat but no fire or, you can embrace this opportunity and do the hard solid work to make this the hottest new show in town.
She went to the Superbowl and didn't invite the loser!! Let's just kick the elephant 🐘 out of the room. If Iowa had by some MIRACLE been able to beat the more SUPERIOR LSU team......LSU wouldn't have gotten an INVITE!!
Thank you! It’s a race thing, point blank period. If LSU the predominantly black team with the star black player had lost (especially lost by 17 points to a predominantly white team with the star white player) they wouldn’t have got no invite.
Get over it. The First Lady was just trying to do something nice. Clearly she enjoyed the game and made the offer in the moment. There’s no need to analyze this ad nauseum.
A non-story is agreed. Have both teams at the White House is not a good thing at the same time. I would say bring in the National Champion in, and then bring the National Player of the year, and the rest of the All-American team. Make it a special day for Women's College Basketball. Problem solved. You get all the best players, and everyone wins.
Actually Iowa has Zero as in 0 interest in a white house visit. Should only be for real heroes ( combat veterans). Not for sports dudes at all. But go LSU...you won bball if you really want.
Yeah, I 'm sure the Dodgers wanted the Yankees to attend after the Dodgers kicked their butts in the World Series...same with the Celtics and Lakers...C'mon Jill, sports aren't socialistic, have you ever played a sport and won? I doubt it....And women's sports are just as competitive...those chick's can ball!!!⚽
Common man it is women sports in America no body watch , no women NCAA had ever invited before and the First Lady did the invite not the president, every one should read the definition of an invite, it is up to the inviter to invite who they want and you can refuse the invitation too
I saw this through the eyes of a fan (Jill) who just wanted to meet both teams. But if you are thinking it through the eyes of the players, winners only seems more fair.
Reese [LSU] made a public issue by playing the race card after winning the school's first women's basketball National Championship. I have never seen an athlete angry after winning a Championship game.😁 Reese "critiqued" her own self and made it a Black-White thing when she said y'all. [meaning white people] when everything should have been irrelevant because she's the one that had the trophy. So obviously it was a race issue with her which I think the First Lady saw how poorly she handled a victory. I think The First Lady would rather see both teams come together because that's not good for female sports. So Reese is going to learn that every female and male of every race go through some sort of criticism in sports. Not just her.
Don’t know what it is about women trash talking each other but it just warms the cockles of my heart . Seeing them throw it down at center court would have been pure rapture.
C'mon man! Read the room! You had the VP go into the locker room after the Purdue's beat down! Now the first lady inviting Iowa. Suzy gotta be shaking her head while racing Rich home.
@@jonathanjacobs5783 The point is she would not have invited LSU to the White House if they lost. Iowa had a star player & team that is mostly all white & it’s no coincidence they got the invite. It’s a race thing not a guy/girl thing. Look at the facts! Stop it! It’s a race thing!
@@ricosanchez202 Lol.. ok rico.. ill maintain the narrative.. but for this comment I don't think you understand.. In over 100 years.. never has a losing team been invited to the WH.. but since its girls... lets change the rules. A male losing team was never officially asked for losing a chip That is what the commentor is talking about
@@jonathanjacobs5783 👈🏾🤡 The narrative is if the MAJORITY BLACK TEAM WITH THE STAR BLACK PLAYER ANGEL REESE WOULD HAVE LOST TO CAITLIN CLARK WHO IS WHITE JILL BIDEN WOULD NOT HAVE INVITED LSU TO THE WHITE HOUSE. POINT BLANK PERIOD!
