In my opinion, joining the Australian based Suncorp Super Netball league could have both benefits and drawbacks for New Zealand netball. Here are some points to consider: Pros: - Increased competition: Joining the Suncorp Super Netball league would expose NZ teams to a higher level of competition, potentially improving their skills and performance. - Greater exposure: The Australian league has a larger audience and more media coverage which could help raise the profile of NZ netball and attract more fans and sponsors. - Collaboration and sharing of resources: Joining the league could lead to sharing of resources, expertise and best practices between NZ and Australian netball organisations. Cons: - Travel and logistics: Participating in the Australian league would require significant travel and logistical arrangements which could be challenging and costly for NZ teams. - Scheduling conflicts: The Suncorp Super Netball league may have scheduling conflicts with existing NZ netball competitions, potentially causing fixture congestion and player burnout. - Loss of national identity: Joining the Australian league could lead to a loss of national identity and autonomy for NZ netball, potentially undermining the development of the sport in NZ. Ultimately, the decision to join the Suncorp Super Netball league would depend on careful consideration of these factors and a thorough analysis of the potential benefits and drawbacks for NZ netball. Yes! If you look at the ANZ there are too many teams. The Steel and Magic are nor competitive. Realistically most of their players except for Ekanasio and Heffernan are at the top level. So they are just playing with sub standard teams and the other teams are playing a sub standard team every other week. Having fewer but more quality teams will help the Ferns. Hopefully with Tauihi Basketball leauge players who might not make a suncorp team can still play and be paid a full sporting season like Aaliyah Dunn.
