May is Mental Health awareness month, and Panda is raising money for a mental health charity with a brand new line. Check it out at bit.ly/3vkol9u. 25% of proceeds go to charity.
Y'all rock for supporting mental health awareness. As someone who's dealt with mental health issues for a long time in the past, the "One Day at a Time" motto is amazing. Love y'all
GGXX Justice Ban was absolutely right thing, character with half screen legit blockstrings and one of craziest rushdown in game(imagine GGS Ramlethal and than double her annoying points, somewhere in that realm you gonna see Justice)
Yeah, people don't seem to remember OG Justice. Triple jump, triple air dash. Base movement was as fast as with the install for comparison. The setups, the block strings. Great buttons, good supers. That character was an absolute menace. Which is why they slowed her down to a snails pace later on and made her install sorta like her OG versions, and even then she could be a problem.
Hero in Smash Ultimate was banned for a while... And NOT because of all the RNG in his kit... not because of the random crits.. not because of the Hocus Pocus invincibility.. not because of the screenwide nukes.. nor topdecking a random instakill move and taking your opponent's stock within the first 0.03 seconds of the match.. ... It was because of the language barrier issues. He's the only character in the game where needing to read his spell names quickly is a mandatory skill to have when playing both as and against him. Anyone traveling from abroad to tournaments would be playing at an extreme disadvantage whenever he's on-screen. He got unbanned again when covid started and the online era started where everyone would have their own console set to their own language.. And he hasn't been banned again since even after in-person stuff resumed... But it's a constant thought that it could happen again.
I'm surprised Lab Coat wasn't talked about despite being in the thumbnail. Character is straight up meta warping. DBFZ is infamous for balance issues with stuff like A16 in Vanilla and then later GT Goku but Lab Coat is on a whole 'nother level. Her debuff/OTG/Grab/Air Reversal etc. are all way too good. Jack of all trades master of all. That character is ruining team composition variety because there is no legitimate reason to not play her in every single team.
On the other hand what is good about her in a way is that she does make so many team compositions viable. If you look at the tournaments she's banned in, they are dominated by every team having at least one of the Goku/Vegeta fusion characters. Even though she was on virtually every team, the overall variety on teams seemed like more to me from what I've seen. The debuff nerfed the OP fusion characters most of all. Not saying she isn't OP, but it was interesting seeing such a wide variety of teams competing at a high level and not needing a fusion character to do it.
Rank has to be heavily based on when you choose your "skill level". I picked beginner or something similar since I hadn't played SF in years and I'm lucky to promote to Silver. Meanwhile, I went from like Bronze on my Manon to Gold in about an hour or less of ranked and I had an 11 win streak at one point.
I always have a hard time thinking about banning characters cause of the fact phoenix didn't get banned is the character we wanting to ban as bad as her always comes to my mind.
It helps in not getting banned when the character is also badass. Like, the character was OP, but only OP in comeback situations. Which also makes for hype situations.
@@randumo24 Comebacks aren't hype when they're practically guaranteed. Dark Phoenix with X Factor could take 3v1s very easily. She's the antithesis of hype.
Phoenix was really good, but I don't remember her being on everyones team. Obviously the inspiration for this video is the recent Labcoat 21 drama in DBFZ where the most recent tournament with top players had just about every single player using labcoat 21. I believe HookGangGod put out a video recently where he shared his conversations with the top players and they were basically all saying if you're going to events, and you're not playing labcoat 21, you're wasting your time and money. I wasn't super involved in the MVC3/UMVC3 scene back when it was the main game, but I don't remember phoenix like that, she was fucking nuts and could run you over, but I don't remember it being at the point where every player was using her, could be because you could kill in one touch with every character lol
I remember nearing the end of I2 and they decided to give us the Bruce Wayne costume for Batman, and no one bothered to realized how broken it was competitive. He could sweep you in the range of his cape but you wouldn’t have the animation shown because he didn’t have a cape in that costume. And no one decided to make a big deal out of it. SMH lol
Ehhh people always say the Metaknight ban, but that was barely ever applicable. It was only for certain small regions, but nobody would be willing to actually ban the character when the large top playerbase used the character and would rather just not go to those Majors that would dare to ban. TO's don't want their investment go to waste.
Yup. The Smash character that would have eventually gotten banned was Bayo had Ultimate never came out. That character was toxic as fuck and was just killing the game.
@@randumo24 Yea, Bayo was more likely to be a perma ban character than Metaknight. Bayo wasn't as heavily integrated into the playerbase and those that did pick her up only did so to compete at the top, but still had other characters they could easily go back to. There were only ~4 actual top Bayo mains that weren't really that important to the community.
I think it's because Petshop's unblockable loop leads to very boring play while Kak Mystic Trap setups take a lot more skill and have more room for interaction
At my school we had a gaming club and there was a rule made especial for me preventing me from using my second main bayonetta in smash 4 Shout out to south garland high school gamimg club
A causal signing up for a tournament would be in for a rude awakening either way…if you don’t know about banned characters, you’re likely nowhere near skilled enough to compete 🤷🏻♂️😂
I literally don't understand 21. Bardock, GT Goku, and UI Goku were that busted in their respective metas and were never banned. To me, you are holding back ppl from learning how to fight her.
It's more because the debuff of Labcoat 21 is generally really unfun and actually harmful for the experience, whereas the other characters just had really good tools that were annoying to deal with, but nothing as specific to them or as significant as the 21 debuff. All of the ban discussions will stop the second her debuff gets nerfed.
Debuff has no counter play and permanently cripples a character for one bar after any hit. 21% damage reduction is insane and turns a 2-3 touch game into a 4-5 which adds up across three characters as it goes from winning in 6-9 hits into 12-15 on average. This leads to more time outs, longer matches and makes it so you pretty much throwing the match if you don't use her at high level. The three other characters didn't warp the meta and just excelled at it but lab coat 21 makes the game hell to the point it is actually causing high level players to quit, viewer count to drop and TOs not wanting to run the game because it takes too long. She is literal killing the game which is why pre-reg for dbfz for evo is pretty low right now.
Lab Coat fundamentally warps Dragonball. There is no objective reason to not have her on every single team. Her debuff is the most detrimental addition to DBFZ ever and she has literally no weaknesses as a character. Command grabs, great normals, great zoning, air reversals, amazing supers, great assist, tons of synergy, brain dead 50% midscreen combos. She needs a massive rework.
Pet shop and ooze are really menaces and are absolutely the most busted fighting game characters to me. I remember justice being broken with her triple jump and super fast dashes and major damage. But they nerfed her out of existence in accent core + so don’t know why she would be banned. Akuma, hilde and guest characters make sense.
played all these games at high level and any time I see characters banned 90% of them aren't really broken. Sure they may be cheap but not broken. A lot of bans come from the people who don't bother learning how that character works or the costume "hides" the attack or change something. For example gill as pyron is banned for that reason even though it doesn't.
I can assure you if a game's top player learned the banned character they'd be nigh unbeatable outside of mirrors, and a few fringe matchups (Petshop vs Kakyoin as an example is 4-6)
@@solemnsovereign758 Ah I couldn't remember which game it was cause 4 was before I really was into competitive fighting games yet. Thanks for clarifying!
Meta Knight getting banned is only technically true but in practice false. Some people making up rules banned Meta Knight, but no meaningful tournaments followed those rules because so many of the big name players main'd Meta Knight and wouldn't show up to their tournament if the character was banned. Fortunately, there was a lot of broken shit in that game, and MK was a fun character to watch. The Smash character that deserved to truly get banned and absolutely eventually would have had Ultimate not come out would have been Smash 4 Bayo. Fml that character was stupidly broken and the mechanics of the game had no-name people just pick up the character and win tournaments.
@@andrepayne4349 Pft, yeah so that I couldn't pick her up that day and combo you to hell. That didn't mean that it was a legitimate nerf for the pro players. They could still do whatever they wanted with her. There is a reason why the top 3 at the final Evo for Smash 4 was all Bayos, and it was an absolute disaster that the crowd shit on badly(those that didn't just leave). There were so many things that made the character ridiculous that Nintendo had no idea how to nerf her. It took a new game, and she still wasn't completely nerfed in the original version of Ultimate. It took one of the top players in the debut with the creator watching playing the character doing one of her busted ladder combos to get the character truly nerfed.
Not a fan of Croft. He's got zero sense of humor and his IQ falls on the left side of the bell curve. The single interaction I had with him, he didn't get the joke I threw out, got offended, and got baited by my obvious bait of a screen name. Dude is as sharp as a butter knife.
While he seems like a nice guy I have to agree with your assessment. He doesn’t have a sense of humor and is always getting offended. He reminds me of that kid in high school who was a geek and made fun of. So when you make a joke he doesn’t take it as a joke or know when it’s a joke.
