recently in my conversations with God, I’ve been led toward the name “disciple” as well. I’ve realized that our goal is to learn from Christ and be more like Him, rather than expect perfection of ourselves - because we are not Him, but rather followers of Him.
I love this message. It’s something I’ve been talking to God about a lot. I know the situation I’m in right now isn’t what He’s called me to be, but I know if I keep putting in the effort to draw closer to Him every single day, that he will reveal what He calls me in due time.
For me, I keep being called “a good person.” this is something my family keeps telling me when I come to rough spots in my faith where i become doubtful of my salvation and have struggle believing. I know what God says and I remind myself of his promises and that he’s true, but I know God is telling me “don’t listen to what they’re telling you, listen to what I say about you”
When you're afraid and doubting, that where worry comes along, don't put God's salvation base on your works my brother in Christ, we are saved through Faith in Jesus Christ through His Words, I encourage you to read the New testament brother starting from Matthew, technically when we are saved by Jesus and make Him as our Lord and Saviour, we do good works by the Grace of God and as an evidence that we really are saved by Him and letting Jesus take over our lives so that the life we are in right now will be more of Jesus and less from us ( us = worldly/sin ) Jesus Christ loves you brother, put your Hope is Christ for Christ is our sure Hope, God bless you brother, and to all brothers and sisters that is reading this right now, all Glory be to God, I love you all!
@@Loisssssssssss thank you, i have been putting my trust in Jesus for my salvation, and i most definitely have become less worldly. i’m getting use to and unlearning walking by emotions and feelings and im realizing beliving regardless of how i feel is faith. I'm 42 and I'm struggling to let go of what I've been calling myself since I was a kid, because I was given those negative titles by bullies and and other mean kids. To grow as children of God, we need to learn not to listen to what the devil says about us, but to what God calls us.
@@cordel_ringaniAmen Amen & Amen. We do try and it is not easy. This is when I witness the Holy Spirit step in and remind me of many things. One of those being that I’m NOT what others say or think.
@@iamspeaking6686 Have you noticed how hard it is to clean/remove dirt and grime that's been collecting on a surface for years? We too have very old stains in the form of insults that we have subconsciously been identifying with. So unlearning these old habits won't be easy, but let's rejoice in the fact we don't have to handle all the dirty work on our own. We have Jesus who's busy at work in us. Scrubbing off all of those curses placed on us by people who've hurt us in the past, and some we've placed on ourselves. My eight year old little girl has a tendency of slapping herself after she fails at something. I'm trying to break that habit by telling her not to be hard on herself. We all make mistakes because we're not perfect. I don't want her to grow up identifying with her mistakes by thinking she's not smart enough or she's a failure. I would love to teach her not to allow herself to be defined by others but by what God calls her as Alex says in the video.

Our Faith is our armor against the enemy. I keep faith even as I constantly struggle to provide for my children and I constantly struggle to buy groceries. Jesus hear my prayers. At times I feel so alone especially as a single mom. Since suffering a heart attack two years ago and my on going battle with lupus I’m overwhelmed and discouraged. Both of my sons are autistic but because of you Lord they are thriving now that I’m homeschooling them but my hours to work are limited. I’m afraid Lord. Afraid❤
Father, thank You for sustaining our sister and honoring her faith. Your word says that You will gently guide those with young. Thank You for Your faithfulness to our sister. Thank You for providing her the opportunity to homeschool her children and watch them thrive. I ask that You would provide for her as she takes care of the children that You have blessed her with. Heal her body and strengthen her into her inner man as she looks away to You, moment by moment. I ask these things in the precious name of Jesus.
This message reminded me of Toby macs song from the early 2000s called Jesus freak, to my understanding he’s talking about how he doesn’t care that people call him Jesus freak because what they call us doesn’t matter. As long as we know what we are and what we’re not as well.
I can’t across this channel about a month ago and GOD has used you to speak life into me and you have served as like a compass in my life. I was just talking to my mom about how I have feelings in my heart as to what I think God wants me to do but don’t know if it’s selfish desires or Gods calling and this video pointed me back to what I need to do.. stay close to Gods word and let Him reveal that to me. Since I was a child, I never liked labels of any type, Alex, and like you said... they didn't need to be bad, but i had this something about labels that in my head, turned me into spiderwoman, climbing up the walls 🤣 - the example is me making the point - 🤭 As I got older, i understood the concept of belonging, of family, ... and how that correlates to God as our Father and Jesus as the Son of God... then, that makes us sons and daughters of God our Father and (I don't have older brother) so I loved it when i discovered Jesus being my BIG brother, and not just any brother ❤🤗😎 I always get emotional every time I read John 17, you know? the prayer Jesus prayed just before He got arrested?? He prayed for Himself as He knew His time was coming, He prayed for His disciples that were with Him and what wonderful beautiful ... how Jesus prayed for ALL believers, even me, before i was born?!!! He knew each one of us before we were born and He prayed for us back then... so, we got to share the news so more and more come to Jesus, who prayed for all of us who believe and will believe in Him through us sharing the gospel!!! Let us just stop, think and let that prayer marinate in our minds and hearts... doesn't it make us jump in joy and tell everybody about Jesus and His love for them even before they were born??!! God bless us and give us wisdom as we walk and live life being faithful lights and salt in the world as we are called to be ❤
Beloved, I have also been enamored lately with thr fact that Jesus prayed and prays for us. It's so amazing. He had hopes and concerns and pleas to God, FOR ME. Even when I was against him. I love him so much, and I just pray that I make him happy with my works, even as he has made me happy with his works.
I would love to hear your perspective of calling ourselves “sinners saved by grace.” Recently I was in a discussion with other disciples of Jesus about this concept. The arguments were: 1) we are made new in Jesus, we are adopted children of God, therefore old things have passed and we are being made holy through Him. We are different than sinners. If a believer and a non-believer were standing beside each other, God would not see them equally. And 2) because we inevitably will continue to sin in some capacity until we are face to face with Jesus, we should continue calling ourselves sinners to stay humble… because we are still sinners. That’s literally what separates us from God. As long as we continue to sin, we are sinners. Both arguments were supported by scripture, but I’m curious for a 3rd opinion.
A third point made in the scripture: let every man walk as he has received it from God. It's more of a heart matter than anything definitive. Is that which is cleansed supposed to be called unclean or common according to scripture? No, the book of Acts makes that clear. How then can that which God has called saint recalled sinner? On the other hand, for humility's sake, Jesus never equated himself with God, though he was God. There were even parts of the gospel where Jesus would tell a man who called him good, "There is none good save God." Referring to oneself as a sinner saved by grace is supposed to serve the purpose of reminding others and ourselves that we are not in this grace by our own works, but by God's love. At times, though, I have heard it used as a way to justify walking in sin, or, worse, to tell people who love God and do his will that they still aren't good enough. That they can never measure up to the expectations of God and, so, they are inadequate of themselves to do the will of God, no matter how hard they try. This is not the purpose of this saying. God did certainly save us, and we are being renewed in his image everyday. The whole purpose of the cross is to make one free from sin. You shall not be yoked under sin, to obey the lust thereof. To say that the people of God are simply sinners saved by grace is a rejection of the gospel of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us.
Christian is a nice title, prefer being called an Overcomer. Revelation 3:21 "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne." (kjv)
In my opinion, whether we call ourselves Children Of GOD, Bondservants, or Christian’s doesn’t truly matter. I believe it in the same sense as that it doesn’t matter if we call Jesus the Son of Man, the Messiah, the Cristos, Iesus, or Yehoshua. It also doesn’t matter whether we call GOD YAHWEH, ELOHIM, or ADONAI. What truly matters is if we follow the way of Jesus. Our actions and especially our faith are more important than our titles
A party name I have been called the quite nice person aka the one they call lame, know I can change that & am in the process of changing that,I was so quite and chill the one that don’t try to start things because of the because what I have see and things I heard caused me to be that way and now I will preach my testimony, because I also feel that this is what God tells me to do get me out of my comfort zone and communicate with people tell them about my journey, and how my journey is similar to theirs in a way and how I can help them and there’s and they can help me and mine. It really does take a lot of things to make u so chill and humble I didn’t have a father growing up and I realized with no discipline I had to learn things the hard way, & it is our Father in Heaven who gives me the discipline the hardest way, and if it wasn’t for him doing that I wouldn’t learn from that so as a child of God I ask for his guides without him I cannot do it myself. Thanks Alex. I was stuck for a long time because I was wanting to hang on to titles. I was a pastor and entrepreneur and didn't want to let go of either it was killing me. As I focused that I was God's son and all other titles where meaningless I saw the path God was calling me to.
Praise Jesus Christ brother for this wasn't revealed to you by your own understanding but it is the Spirit that has shown you these things. I pray that God will continue to give you a hunger and desire to search him and that he reveals himself more unto you.
we aren’t just who we God says we are, we are who he made us. it’s amazing and wonderful that God CALLS us chosen, loved, and sings over us….but it’s important to know..these aren’t just words. it’s not just his opinion of us…it’s who we truly are. God doesn’t just see us as a workmanship, that’s who we are. God doesn’t just call us his sons and daughters, that’s who we are. the life of a disciples is chasing our identity in christ and letting the holy spirit make us into who he made us to be. hope this encouraged someone! :)

That whole focused example was such a word from the Lord. I've been so hyperfocused on an issue I'm dealing with and I've been pressing and praying and fasting but I feel like I'm getting nowhere. I'm thinking maybe it's time for me to back up and get some focus and perspective on the situation. God has a purpose for all things, I'm just praying now that I can seek His will during this time and for however long I'll be going through this trial.
I was always called a pot head since the age of 15. Im now 36 and 2 years ago Jesus broke that chain. I no longer smoke pot and its been a great 2 years without it.
I've been pot free for about 2 and a half years now. Jesus truly sets free. Jesus is my new fix, my true high. He elevates me beyond earthly things into heavenly peace, love, and joy.
One snippet about early Christians is a letter from the Roman governor Pliny the Younger to emperor Trajan in AD 112. He’s asking the emperor if he was right to execute these Christians. He mentions he thought it fitting to torture them to see what this “superstition” was about. He says he could only find this: That they meet before dawn on a set day of the week, they sing alternating hymns, they partake in an innocent meal, they say an oath to do good to others in all respects, and they worship Christ as a God. I often think about these humble and courageous brothers and sisters who we inherit following Christ..
Earlier, I read the story of Jacob, his earlier title meant “ deceiver” , a label that arised from him working against his own brother ,Esau ,by stealing his blessing from their father, Issac . However, Jacob wrestled with God and gained a new title, Isreal. We ought to “wrestle “with God and spend soo much time and be in close proximity with him so we can see what God call us and not what the world calls us , just like Jacob.
Amen, wow. I never thought of it like that. In his own life, Jacob fulfilled the meaning of his name by his actions. The birthright that God had given to him was made to seem like he was stealing it when it belonged to him. That's powerful. The world made him seem like a liar and thief, but God showed the world that Jacob is his beloved child, appointed and chosen for all that comes to him.
What the Devil meant for evil (Romans mocking us by calling us 'little Christs) God has meant for good. We were created in the image of Christ. That is NOT to say we are gods as many preachers have twisted scripture to make it sound like that's what it says.
Labels are restrictive and are used to minimize and/or enlarge. I’ve always had a disdain to the point of causing me to drop my last name. I am in awe of how Our Father is using this man here, and his obedience to what sayeth The Lord. I give anonymously, I’ve witness the difference in the way you’re treated better than those who may not be able to give. I am always asked, ‘what do you do for a living’ to which I’m evasive and do not give the answer. I’m always told, “you look important”. WHAT⁉️ HUH⁉️ I’m told (only by being looked upon) that I’m high maintenance. None of which I’ve ever accepted, because I know me and more importantly I know to Whom I belong. That I’m confident in, not arrogant. Looking back even as a kid I was called names, white girl, pretty girl, you think you’re better, Only now realizing this was a form of bullying. Which has allowed me to remain humble and excuse people and tell myself, they don’t know any better.
Of course. I believe his point was that if Jesus had lived as THEY wanted him to, he couldn't have lived as God wanted him to. What he thinks is Christ and Messiah was not the same as what they thought.
What's the best way of figuring out our calling? I'm daily in the word and in prayer and studies (fellowship) but still don't know exactly know what my gifts are and what I'm to do for a full time career
I've found that it's just something you pray and fast about. I understood what I was supposed to do with my life by remaining faithful to what I was already doing. Sometimes, we convince ourselves that we are above what we are currently doing and hope for more. Humility and contentment are the safety of knowing that my worth, my purpose, and my hope are not found in anything I will accomplish down here. When I learned that, I came to realize that the things God had given me a passion for, the things he put in my heart, were already evident.

Feels like idolatry to me even though it’s hard to break the habit, based on history. Nothing should come before God, not even the incarnation. The incarnation can’t hold a candle to the all knowing, all powerful, universe creating God. Some people pray to Jesus instead of praying to God, which is a problem.
Jesus IS God. He is, after all, THE Incarnation of the Living God. There is no other because he IS God and reigns as God in heaven. The Son of God, called so not because he is someone other than God, but because he was born from the Spirit of God. Which is to say, he is who God is, in a body.

There is NO gate into the Holy City in Rev 21. Doesn't that tell you something about who this book was actually for? Jesus himself says he came ONLY for the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Paul NEVER confirms being a "Christian" but instead confirms being an observant Jew, a Pharisee who kept the traditions of the fathers - which is true because we see him hurrying back to Jerusalem. (And personally I think he got tired of horseback rides to persecute Christians and so decided to go "inside" and pervert the religion--but that's just me.)
