Deleting Social Networks in 2021, a good or bad idea?
We spend a large part of our day on screens and mainly on our phones. And what are we doing on our phones? We spend our time scrolling through the news feeds of Instagram, TikTok, RU-vid, Twitter, Facebook ... To find out what animates the day of our friends, acquaintances or our favorite personalities.
The slightest minute of vacancy quickly turns into several minutes of immersion in the daily life of the people to whom we have decided to subscribe. And this minute of free time quickly becomes the priority to connect with others through social networks. So much so that we don't leave our phone all day long. By taking a step back, we realize that the phenomenon of addiction has taken hold of social networks to make us dependent.
We have known for some time now that the objective of the different social media platforms that compete with each other is to keep us as long as possible on their interface rather than another. Their objective ? We provide targeted advertising and monetize our screen time.
Social networks are a revolutionary tool allowing us to get closer, to find or keep in touch, to share and discuss remotely, to meet and stay connected to each other even on the other side of the world.
Unfortunately, social networks are also the source of many problems when their management is no longer mastered. We then speak of isolation, discomfort, exclusion, discrimination, depression, hatred, harassment, dependence, manipulation ... etc.
This is why after many years of use, academic and individual study, development and teaching in return, I asked myself a question that I ask you in return:
Should we remove Social Networks in 2021?
At the start of 2021, I told you about my goals to achieve during the year. And if you are a subscriber to my channel, you will surely remember hearing about my desire to try the Social Media Detox experience, which is a social media detox.
A common practice which consists in making a cure of the social networks during a determined period. As far as I'm concerned, I decided to push the concept to the limit by carrying out a social media detox for 30 days. Which means I will delete social media for 30 days.
The objective of this experience is to take a step back to answer these questions:
Am I addicted to social networks? Should we move away from social networks in 2021? Should we remove social networks in 2021? What are the benefits of moving away from social networks? What do social networks bring us on a daily basis? What will be the consequences on my social life?
What will be the consequences on my professional life if I delete the social networks which today are a big part of my job?
This is what we will find out, as I am deleting all my social networks for 30 days from today (July 7, 2021) and will only reinstall them from August 7, 2021.
In order not to see my work done so far completely collapse, I will continue to publish videos on RU-vid through the computer, without looking at my statistics (views, number of subscribers, comments ...).
I invite you to try the experience at the same time as me and we will take stock in 1 month!
Of course, I am preparing a full video for you on this experience which will be difficult and risky for my future as a content creator on social networks. You will know what the profits, the difficulties and the potential losses have been.
Do not forget to SUBSCRIBE to the channel so as not to miss the results of this experience without social networks for 30 days!
