Definitely rent, if you want to buy a property avoid condominiums and go for your own house and lot, avoid the headaches of owning a condo specially if you are put into the homeowners hell of inner bureaucracy and internal politics, another one is most condo units are bought by people with the intent of offering it in airbnb, if you're going to live in one, expect many staycationers/tourist with no care about keeping it down, running, screaming, laughing out loud around the hallways late at night and early in the morning and common areas specially the pools turning into resorts.
my personal opinion with condo, too expensive to rent, you can have a decent house to rent for the same price or even cheaper, if you choose a right place you could buy a property and be land owner, if you buy a condo or appt. you don’t have a title only the square meter of 4 walls, the building expires in 50 years and no more condo unless you sell before the building condemns and need renovation, best wishes on your move
Just rent. You can stay in the PH for 36 months total. You can renew your tourist visa every 6 months (or less) for a total of 36 months (max). You can renew your visa at any Bureau of Immigration Satellite offices scattered around the country.

@@chefkuyajoey Cebu at certain times of day can be a little like Manila. But because Cebu is much smaller, you can still manage. For reference, a 6km trip on a good day would be around 30mins. At least an hour if rush hours. For sure, you’ll enjoy your future trip.
My advice, don't buy a condo in PH. It is difficult to sell it if you intend to sell at a later time.. I have seen a few Real Estate investors vloggers who made comments about their condos taking longer time to sell.
