OLF said years ago, "you can have too small a tractor for a big job, but you can't have too big a tractor for a small job" You are much safer with the bigger tractor.....!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. I think your correct about tractor size. I’ll never forget about OLF saying he’d rather have to much rather than to little because to little can kill you. Then shortly later I watched a video of a farmer in Sweden with a very small tractor and although he was excited about what he could get away with all I could think was I hope he doesn’t kill himself. Looked like he was riding a bucking bull. Was lifting so much with the front loader the back tires were hardly touching and if not for the all wheel drive he wouldn’t have been able to move. It was effectively a front wheel drive two wheeled tractor. Glad to see you being serious about not endangering your self with two kids in your life to raise. Wishing you and your family the best.

Hey Gift should be soon. Enjoy the new to yall tractor. Take Care, Take it Easy and Trust JESUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi from oz Travis. Well you finally found the joys of ivt boxes. Brilliant. Don’t forget when using pto implements to change to pto setting. Ie tractor changes it’s forward speed to keep pto speed up. I have fendt 714 purchased new in 09. I run big square that weighs over 8 ton when baling. It’s got hydraulic brakes for road use (baler is heavier than tractor) and it stops as fast as a car if needed.

Its easy for someone who is not paying the bills to think its inefficient to run more tractor than you need for any given job. The thing is you need that tractor for other jobs on the farm. In my opinion its more inefficient to purchase multiple tractors just so you have just the right amount of HP for the job you are doing. Big tractor can do a small job, Small tractor cant do a big job. Why pay for two when one can do it all.

@markrupprnkamp5832
@markrupprnkamp5832 Год назад
They are supposed to give you more horse power at the drawbar and still give you the more ratios like a hydrostatic. They have automatic shift setting unlike the International hydro that you had to change transmission speed manually.
@davidthorne2129
@davidthorne2129 Год назад
Also full hydrostatic was full hydraulic drive (ivt are mix of hydraulic and mechanical drive). They could not handle the constant high power load of heavy cultivation work all the time. They would overheat and blow up. That’s why they sent in tractors but good for combines and dozers where they often have fairly long periods of low power requirements
