I have yet to read a Bible story (Jesus aside, but even He was up against the thick of it) with a clear path of perfect. I mean even those chosen by God walked hard paths. It's only in our minds everything needs to be perfect. But there is a beauty in letting kids be kids in that season. Seems like her Dad isn't bad at all. He clearly loves her. He clearly supports his family's faith journey despite not wanting one of his own. He clearly enjoys being their Dad, her Husband. I wasn't raised with Faith or in Faith. It was something I was told I had to do once a summer when we visited my Dad's parents. I was 2nd grade-ish. It didn't mean anything to me at that point. Flash forward a little over a year and I have 2 new best friends in a new town we are living in...and they both are super excited about Sundays. I learn they both go to the same church and are in the same Sunday School class...etc. They invite me to go. So my Mom is on board and drops me off, but she stays and attends the service while I attended the school. She fell in love with the community of people, the service, and the amount of families there. We went back week after week. Eventually, my brothers and Dad joining us. I think it just means everyone has a journey ...a path to their faith. Atheism is a faith in non-belief. I think her 14 year old will be ok in knowing...I don't think she will be so mad that she'll go off the deep end. Her Dad has a different faith journey. It isn't over. Maybe he never changes his mind. All will be ok.

@@nicolab2075 Hi Nicola! I think in the beginning, like when I was a small child, you are taught to believe in God. You are told he is real by the adults that raise you, and so you trust that is the truth. Some things in the story, may not make sense, but I think the concept of faith takes care of any discrepancies you catch. Faith is belief in the absence or in spite of evidence, and you train for faith as you grow up in church. So suspension of disbelief comes easier for you. I think this is also why religious people start instilling these beliefs when you are little . If I told you the same stories in the bible as a 30 yr old vs a 5 yr old, its going to be easier to convince you without any evidence as a child. Once you are an adult and you experience more of the world around you, I do believe you have to choose to either ignore any evidence to the contrary or to continue to believe in a god even if there is lack of evidence that a god exists in order stay religious.

I really don't understand religious faith. You believe in religion, good for you 👍🏻 You don't believe, good for you 👍🏻 I just don't understand why it's important to someone else. I've met people who have religion and I'm happy for them. Gives them a blueprint for life, helps them get through, great stuff. But the same people have had a problem with me not believing. Absolutely baffling.

Nothing against this lady's decision, but for me, losing faith would be grounds for divorce. Corinthians 6:14 "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Though it's also worth noting Matthew 5:32 says "But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery." so I would be forcing my hypothetical spouse into committing adultery.

I disagree, I think you should listen to the Holy Spirit, (which seems to be still within him). He has not spilled this out to his children before now, Which makes me believe that his reasons for his crisis of faith have more to do with emotional maturity and upbringing. Your children need an anchor, not a sailboat. Why subject them to confusion in an already very antiChrist world? He’s going through this time of deconstruction of his faith, and however long it is, it is his journey. I always think of the scripture “Woe to any of you who lead my little ones away from my teaching, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck and be thrown into the deepest ocean.” Matthew 18:6 Don’t share this with them, continue as you are and be the Christlike example that you have been.
@theshunnedBandersnatch
@theshunnedBandersnatch 2 года назад
She clarified that her husband finished his deconstruction process and is now an atheist. He's not going back. It doesn't make sense to hide this from their *teenage* daughter; she'll figure it out & wonder why her parents were dishonest about this when they emphasized honesty & truth in every other area of life.
