You're so down to earth,Ali.👍 U should wash first all the fruits before eating them. Also, ask the seller if those fruits get warm under the sun,if yes, please let them cool for few hours first coz they might upset your stomach and might cause u LBM.. 😁🇵🇭
Ali our heart’s King👑we love ur attitude with all people around u 🙌when watching ur first video, we thought the people r ur friends , but then, realised that u r so humble,so kind,so friendly,Bless you🙏
In 4:35... those are we called 'kakanin' ... most of them are made of sweetened sticky rice. That's been part of my younger days. My nanay (mother) always bring 'pasalubong' (presents) everytime she came from work. Either the 'kakanin' or fruits like that 'duhat'
Thanks for all your blogs...I enjoyed it...you really inspired me to start mine...just waiting when I go back home to the Philippines...for now just enjoyed watching here in California...thanks again
Duhat in Tagalog dialect and Java plum in english. Sometimes if is not yet in season or not ripe yet and still sour in taste we eat with a little salt or sprinkle of salt.
The small dried fish is "TUYO" in english it means "Dried". Commonly, we don't boil it but instead we fried it and it is good with garlic rice. Commonly eaten for breakfast. It is really salty so a pinch of it is enough to a spoonful of rice.
Ali, I know all the interactions don't go as you would like but you deal with it like a true gentleman! Don't worry, those "air hockey-pool table" players, didn't know they were in the presence of the most humble vlogger on earth. Keep it up my man! 😎👏
15:25 correction for what the seller said.. SAYOTE is not natives in Philippines.. that vegetable originally came from latin America (chayote).... Brought by spain
Try palabok next time.. if you want another level, a new taste of glass noodles, it has shrimp and squid flavorings, topped with egg and garlic.. I say it's a must, so deliciously creamy!.. You saw it already, the first in the row of noodles you've shown, before you ate the pancit..
Ali, I really like the way you vlog. You are very precise and the way you deal with people is very cool and sweet. Hope you decided just to stay in the Philippines.
Ali the dried fish your talking about is what we call "TUYO" in tagalog (DRIED) in english that we we fried it not boil in water mostly all of dried fish here is FRYING is the way to cook it...
Hi, im back to introduce to you and our friends here i got sick. Tinola- chicken, sayote, chili leaves, garlic, onion, ginger, chicken broth.. one of my favorite fruit duhat...hope next time ali you have to wash it first before a bite😄cause its not yet clean..but overall nice seeing you enjoy eating...those suman is a sticky rice wrapped with coconut lleaves...
Your look like a Philippine people also ,thank you so much .Your blogging are so Nice ,Can you go to Bulacan coz they have a lots of beAutiful places and lake attract you..
Ali.. a word of advice.. try learning a few Phillipino's greetings.. it will go a very long way.. (some of those vendor looked at you with a sense of suspicious).. those fruit and veg vendor are very nice people but they will be even nicer if you make the effort to greet them in their language.. this apply to all the countries and cultures of your forthcoming destinations..
Can't agree more I been to Ph 4 times My Tagalog now is full sentences compared to my first time with the very basics I noticed the vendors too But overall they are more curious about where he is from Not looking like an American Even if he adds the word "po" with English is good Better is Kumasta Po Best is Magandang umaga sa iyo ! Good morning to you ! people where i live You would not be sticking a camera in their faces before they start either asking why Or down right tell you to stop And go somewhere else The same respect should be given to these people They do infact know you are there to throw them on youtube and get paid without asking them ..
The vendor kinda dont know how to express herself that's why she can't communicate that well. But believe me Filipinos are very friendly and adorable people. When you came into some they call "depress area" don't be discourage.. It's natural for them to look at you as a stranger with or without good intention.
I like the vibes of Kuya Benjie from the food stall (aka carinderia). His english is good enough to at least tell you about the food. Suman (that sticky rice wrapped in coconut leaves) has variations. My favorite is the one made from kamoteng kahoy (cassave) filled with either sweet ube or sweet stuff.
Ali you're the man quiapo is a haven for all sorts of Filipinos from the good to the bad and you handled the true manila life from.eating in carinderia or turo turo which means point point to every dish you want to eat to true street foods and even watching a game of pool which is a local billiard which uses wooden chips rather than balls it is played with a wager but lastly you mingled with the locals well even though they have limited English that's when they say they will have nosebleed but that's all a joke,if you survive quiapo you'll survive anywhere in the Phil's.
Ali why don't you upload videos on facebook? I think it's an effective way to expand your channel to another set of viewers. In my case too, how I got to know your channel was quite random as one of Harry's videos in Sri Lanka companied with you appeared in my fb watch section, when scrolling. That's how I found both of you and also your machans gang on yt. And I see lots of people are not so active on yt, as they are on facebook. Obviously when one randomly get to know your channel, because of your traits and content quality, majority become loyal subscribers, then they will find time to watch your vlogs on yt as I am now. If you have enough time, you can just give a try.🥰👊
man I laugh so hard when you say dehydrated fish at 20:37. ahahahaha its a local delicacy here in philippine which we call "tuyo" or in english " dried fish". its a fish that seasoned with salts and was being dried under the sun. it taste somehow salty but also some deeper taste depending on the fished used. its one of our favorite food for breakfast partnered with "spicy vinegar" and some tomatoes and eggs. definitely you should try it sometime.
Ripe Duhat actually tastes like cherry. I know the taste and we have cherries here in Italy. We usually shake some ripe duhat with salt sounds wierd but I like it. So when I miss duhat with salt I use cherry and it somewhat tastes the same! 😅👍🏼✌🏼
I commend you Ali for exploring Quiapo area in that burning heat. I can only imagine how the humidity was in there while you were filming. Always bring extra shirt and a towel. Nothing is more important than your health kuya.
I think what she meant was 1/4 kilo of the Duhat, or Java Plum. That’s best eaten with salt. We used to put the fruits in between 2 plates and shake it with salt . 👍
In addition to the accent, and the beautiful Filipino languages, people that love talking about the slums of Philippines, but another reason why I'll always go Philippines over Thailand, is how raw Philippines is, Thailand doesnt seem to have anything that seems hood, but Philippines has that if I choose to go see it, and be around that; it is something that youll get in Philippines, Columbia, Brazil, Venezuela, Jamaica, etc..., but as far as Asia is concerned, Philippines is about the only place I can think of that has legit hoods, maybe India also, that have real people with real soul; just nice common people, feels more like home to me.
Actually, every major city should get rid of the slummy areas, or what you’re referring to as "hoods". The government has a project to get rid of that slummy "hood", and some of those housing projects are called "Tondominium" and "Binondominium". Sooner or later, all those hoods will be gone, and I’m more thankful since foreign media won’t use Philippines for their poverty propaganda again.
@@smoothie4448 When ghettos are gone, that will be the sign of bad times, that will most likely mean that you will have an elysium type situation in which, all those that can afford to live, or have accepted their chip will have access to the elysium special access type place, and everyone else that is poor or didnt comply will be left to rot in the disease filled, pollution filled deadzone that will be left behind, Philippines isnt alone in being spotlighted by median an the like, we have several locations in the United States that are also, it is all over the world, you Filipinos need to stop acting as if you are the only one going through stuff all the time, truly it is the THailand foreigner fans that completely bloat the negative about the country anyway, I would blame them for how people look at the country more than the media or any slums.
Ali machan! you passed the hardest part 100K ❤sorry for the late wishes man. Let's do the easiest part 1M and I'll never miss that. congrats my brother! Love from Sri Lanka ❤🇱🇰
Ali you'll never stop to amaze me... You are such a good person in and out its shows naturally the way you interact to locals...hope you will stay much more longer in the philippines .. 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭👍🏼☺️
Some of the best places to eat, wherever you are in the world, are in these hole in the wall, inconspicuous spots and very local. That thing you ate with the chicken tinola is call chayote although, it's most paired with unripe papaya Thats more traditional. I think a good content would be to try all the different fruits especially the ones that are in season. Take care Ali. Oh btw, "nosebleed" means that they've run out of English that when they try to think of more English words, they get a nosebleed....basically from thinking too hard. Take care.
The reason why those vendors you met cant speak english is that they are those who are unfortunate and not able to go to school, a Filipino who have at least went to High School will surely be able to converse in English with ease, unless they always skip their English classes all the time. So just understand that these people are so poor that they weren't able to go to school that's why they are helping out their family by selling goods at the market or the streets.
