Check deck plans and choose a room that is in between lifeboats or at least at the end of a lifeboat. Same rule of thumb for Carnival Spirit class ships with the interior obstructed view rooms which are all in deck 4.
Well we booked way too late all the Balcony and above were already sold out. All that remained were the “blocked Ocean View “ rooms! However if you search the ship’s BOV Rooms you can come up with a few which were GREAT. We ended up with E415 great view as we were running out of Alaska Cruises as their season ends in Sept. Photo available.
On the Royal Class ships, there are a number of Obstructed View Balcony cabins that face the front of the ship and are located on the two decks just above the bridge. The balconies are larger than standard, and the only obstruction is the fact that the railing is solid metal rather than having a glass panel you can see through. Facing forward, they get a bit of wind when you're at sea, but for cruises which are port heavy with most sailing done overnight, they can be an awesome choice and something different that you probably haven't experienced.
I booked on Grand princess sailing from melbourne 2 jan 2024 while doing the booking direct with princess for inside cabin to get my business was surprises to be upgraded to obstructed ocean view The agent assured me its only instructed little bit so she got my business later i checked the room thru Google it looks great
Thank goodness there is a web site that has many photos of the obstructed view if any at all. It takes the guess work as to which stateroom to book. Thanks for sharing. 😀👍👏
Your comments are hilarious!! Thank you for the tour. We got upgrade from inside to a super obstructed view. We looked at the pictures online, and you could only see a little bit of sea if you tilt your head up and close one eye. And we love it!!! It was only $80 more, and we are not in a dungeon!!! Woot woot for sunshine!!!
Had 2 back to back cruises in Asia on Sapphire Princess. Loved the ship. We had a balcony cabin. Just discovered your channel. Loved the info, about to subscribe. Gidday from Aus 😁
Yes they can be a cheaper choice, thx so much. They all vary in the equipment in the view from each cabin. There is a difference between Partially Obstructed and Obstructed.
I’ll be on the Majestic Princess in October 🤞🏻!! I finally made it to Elite after 30 years of cruising (mostly with Princess- but other cruise lines too) - on my Island Princess cruise - May 2018 - but haven’t been able to enjoy the Elite benefits yet. That obstructed view ocean view cabin looked really nice - although I have a balcony cabin booked for my October cruise (Mexican Riviera)!
I am probably very much alone, but I am thankful it was the Fawley terminal and not a Caribbean island. Since moving away from there 31 years ago I do get the occasional home sickness. And no, while the obstructed view cabins can be a great bargin, I always go for a C deck cabin on a grand class ship for the extra balcony size.
We had an obstructed balcony on a Pullmantur ship, but figured as the days were short we probably wouldn’t be in the cabin during daylight hours anyway so a view of a lifeboat wasn’t an issue for us. It depends on the itinerary really as to what we book.
Thank you !! I just received an upgrade from interior cabin to obstructed ocean view on emerald deck 8❤🎉very nice location and view. I subscribed, so please send strawberry to my stateroom on Sapphire Princess Sept 6😊
I had an obstructed view on Sapphire in January 2020 (I had back to back trips, a five day and a seven day... the ship only had one more sailing before COVID shut it down). This is pretty much it.
Thanks Jeffrey. We love back to backs, but we can't do them as often as we'd like. Isn't it great when everyone's having to leave and you're just sitting there feeling rather pleased with yourself? ;) :D
@@visitwithus Hmm, in this case, no. I heard staff saying that about 80% of the passengers were doing back to backs. I found out from lots of UK travelers they didn't even know it was back to back cruises; they were sold it as a single 12 day voyage (they were not happy with that, and I can't blame them.).
Thanks for sharing, we are just looking at maybe booking an obstructed view cabin on this ship. Don’t suppose you remember which cabin number this was please?
Hi Gavin. Princess and Celebrity are quite different in our opinion, but not in a bad way at all. I think they're comparable brands, although Celebrity are more expensive. Princess are not so 'arty' with their decor. Expect lots' of neutral colours, creams, golds etc. :)
I been on Cruises before 4 times I enjoy it I been P&O and carrbean my sisters wanted to go but in 2018 I went for 4 days my first I love it but after I come back I found out my brother got cancer he die a month after but 3 months my sisters wanted to go on Cruises I took them for 3 days on P&O and my nephew to they love it they want to go again we were going to go last yr but because of the virus I can't wait to go again because I want to take my sister again she needs a good break
Couldn't agree more Lou. We much prefer balconies, especially in the warmer climes, where you can sit in peace and quiet with a drink and just gaze at the ocean... perfect! :D
