To some parts yes. But OPs like Lumen, Gladiia and Heavy Rain for Event Welfares, Bibeak from CC0 or Tachanka from Crossover Collab Operation Originium Dust are pretty good. Upcomming Delphine looks with S1 like a budget Ifrit. Lessing from Zwillingstürme im Herbst Event looks like a nice Dreadnought and Fuze from R6 Collab 2 looks nice too as a Centurion.
The first ones in a new branch are almost never the faces of the branch unless they are a 6 star. Every time a new branch is released at lower rarity it isn’t until the 6 star gets added they become the face of it.
HG has a tendency to fumble to greater or lesser degree with the first iteration(s) of new classes, and Deer Mommy kinda falls into the former group. (Never mind now when the whole class is outright Cursed By Design...) Caper would be a rare example of them managing to create a sound kit on the first try.
Coldshot is basically what I called being sabotaged. Trait: stronger attack if not attacking for 2 second, but in no way in normal circumstance (keep attacking) this trait ever active. Her S2 also make it much worse. Sure now she pack a punch, but reload time become more than 2 second. She can be really good but sadly is sabotaged by her design. Imagine if reload take 2s, suddenly she become really good.

Something I think was mention partially is her Reload time; it is about her attack interval but the Reload is NOT affected by attack-speed so Coldshot running out of ammo slows her down a lot.
I'm hoping a module can fix her. Most likely will have her reload 2 bullets per reload but even this doesn't fix her biggest issue. Hell maybe she'll have like 5 magazines and fully reload 5 times per deployment before returning to single bullets. Her biggest issue is that she provides no utility. She's just pure damage. If her attacks dealt some effect onto enemies like say: Defense down for x seconds or applied a bleed effect which makes the enemy lose % HP for x seconds. Hell the Burn elemental damage type could've been great too. In a way Exusiai is also pure damage but as a Marksman sniper she prioritizes aerial enemies and that is a utility when needed. Hunter snipers' Trait feels a bit weak. Sadly not enough here to justify a squad slot. I can sort of see what they were going for with this subclass, unlike the guard subclass Crusher. That said, I did build her. E2 lvl 70 (my limit for all my ops for now) No masteries planned though as an assistant, her EN voice actress is top tier.
I'm hopeful because modules mainly target the trait and/or talent which is part of what mainly holds her back (reload). As the S2 isn't bad per se but also makes her subclass drawbacks more acute.
I watched someone properly review Coldshot, and not just those clickbait videos where someone else becomes the main focus. Apparently Coldshot can match Firewatch. You have to make sure that she doesn't have any ammo so that her Talents activate and each shot deals much more damage. If the Hunter subclass gains a module that actually works (instead of those really horrible ones that got released for some unfortunate ops), then she might even get better. I know that Ray will just be better in every aspect, but for the Welfare Only teams she's a good addition. And also Elafia MOMMY.
In terms of 5 star snipers only Coldshot is actually a good unit, it’s just that people don’t like her play style and they want to make her into something different.
I love how Frosty looks and explains everything objectively, giving you tips on who you should invest your hard earned resources on; especially for new Docs; but unfortunately or rather fortunately all us veteran docs fall under the category of : Degenerates, Docs of Culture 🧐, HoRnI, and horribly down bad that we will build anyone to their MAX POTENTIAL just cuz they are hot.
Yeah pretty accurate assessment. I hate how she plays gameplay wise. Like HG can't just release this gyatt mommy character, and make her this bad. Even her lore is cool, but man :(
Coldshot Talent really compliment by her Traits and 2nd skill because it always activate and it compensate the reloading tactic of this archetype. One creator showcase Coldshots kit and all and she was compared to Firewatch when he do the damage test on patriot Coldshot got the most damage. Even they look bad there are still some niche and powers they can offer.
this operator shows you can make people have copium to anyone long as you make them attractive enough her talent and ammo system are contradicting each other "just have her run out of ammo to proc her talent" then that defeats the purpose of having an ammo system. "she can out dps firewatch" bro aside from being a different kind of operator, you don't exactly see people using firewatch. if you clear with firewatch, then you don't need coldshot in the first place, and you're mainly showing off if you do use her. if you like her and built her then that's you decision, but I can't think of a situation where she's needed since we have so many operators that can dps and do more
she is comparable to mystic casters. she's genuinely not bad at her job its just unfortunate there's other characters that are busted as hell making her feel invalid. that said, she is usable and with the snipers best friend Elysium she's just excels. definitely feels like there's a "if you wanna have fun" vs "if you want to win effortlessly" aspect to characters coming out in arknights. in hoping we stop getting super high dps boss killers for a while
Aww shes stuck in the 'super fine artwork' despite being trash just like savage. Speaking of savage i really want to built her but i just built 9 colour deer instead so now im broke. No regret her floating in mid air and sitting like a sage is really cool.
People love to give her S2 shit, but it is effectively the same at Manticores S2 which is praised. It slows atk interval so talent will proc each attack + some CC. It makes sense with her talent and mechanism.
But Manticore hits all targets in a large aoe, so her interval in consideration with talent proc and CC effect is a good synergy. There aren't many alternative subclasses or operators to her role. Coldshot doesn't stand out apart from ammo mechanic and has to compare herself with most of the sniper class which already has a lot of powerful variety and utility.
Module will be good eventually, she just needs all the stats she can get and help from buffers. I built her and she's fun to use, just not for serious content.
HG really needs to be more willing to patch existing content, especially when it comes to new archetypes. Coldshot should definitely be a 4* unit, and/or the hunter archetype should reload the full magazine all at once (with skills and such being rebalanced around that change)
