I explain my views on the Astra J VXR and roughly what it would cost to own one. Store: www.thelondoncarscene.com/onli... Facebook : / thelondoncarscene
I can't believe this is even a question . The j is a superior car in every way. Faster, handles better, looks well and only gets better looking when making an mods aesthetically . It's interior is light years ahead of the H . It's "factory" noise is nicer, and any upgrades made similarly e.g. A turbo back system with no other mods will sound better. Much better equipt as well both quality and quantity . I change my car every 2 years. I'd 2 audi's , vw scirocco , Leon cuppra k1' GTIR sunny . I bought my Astra brand new brand new at end of 2013. Still have no desire to change yet. It's a good wagon for modifying as well. Mine is currently just below 350BHP and I've been assured by different reliable guys that the J is mechanically sound up 450 BHP for neutrality sake, I would admit it's a bigger burden re: cost . Definitely much more expensive. I also hold my hands to a few recalls. Nothing major or even necessary . It was the software for "anti stall", software for "auto stop/start" . And something to do with the splitter. Though these are probably rectified in later models. I'd never even considered an Astra. I actually went to test drive vxr insignia as I fancied another saloon . But I was very disappointed in it. The guy badgered me to take an Astra for test drive. I was hooked in minutes. The other downside is running costs. Although I changed my rims , I stuck with 20" and as it's already a performance car plus having mine modified I think it's important to stick with the Pirelli p-zero tyre . Insurance is heavy as well as is fuel costs, especially if you get them tuned/remapped as you'll likely have to run permanently on "premium unleaded" to maintain the maximum power from the tuning. Cost is really the only issue I had with mine but if you can swing it and happy to go the extra cost , I definitely couldn't recommend the j vxr . I'd also suggest stick to it as is and pay for modifications if you want increased performance . I wouldn't go the route of the extreme version as you sacrifice a lot for what, app 20 more HP . A few thousand would get you from 280 -350 HP. plus you'll keep comfort, more extras , . If memory serves I don't think the extreme has a back seat plus I think it has a roll cage. Apologies for the long winded post, just thought it could be helpful advice for anyone considering a VXR
The London Car Scene Going with TDI Tuning. I can remove the tuning g box at any time and it goes back to factory setting and its traceless.Engine torque goes up to 470nm which is more than the New ford RS.It puts 10mph onto the top end too, making it 165mph which also is the same as the RS lol. Can't wait. What tyre's you running on at the moment :)
Astra j is defo better overall. Looks better imo and more desirable with adaptive dampeners and LSD, better seats, better interior for long distance journeys. That being said i love the mk5 vxr too it can be modded to look pretty damn nice.
I much prefer the MK5 looks over the MK6. The J has too many curves doesn't look as aggressive overall. Really hope Vauxhall do an updated look like they've done with the GTC.
@@TheLondonCarScene congrats on the house! I think I've had it for around 8 months now, flew up to Scotland to pick it up lol Personal opinion, I'd say A45!! Have u bought in aylesbury ?
one good advice for the uploader-do car review videos no more than 5 minutes long, anything longer is boring, it's f***ing astra vxr, not some supercar like Ferrari, and you're no car expert either. As an owner you could just highlight good and bad points of this car, running costs, reliability issues, handling, show some driving around and exhaust sound and that would be it. my opinion as a viewer
@@danhall5761 Nothing wrong with finance? 90% are financing cars they can't afford, if you can't afford to buy it full out then you can't afford it so you don't even have the right to say it's 'my' car
@@MrRohanThomas My ego's not that fragile that I'm bothered about owning my car. If you can get a sub 3% loan or in many cases of brand new cars it's cheaper to finance. Ofcourse they can afford the cars, finance companies do affordability cheques and payments are clearly made so they're managing just fine? I'm very content not owning a car and having my money available to invest. If you're remotely good with your finances you can see a better return than the cost to borrow. So you're spending more in order to have some bragging rights? no one cares you own the car.
