Very proud owner of an X-T4. I don't feel the need to get one of the newer models because I feel making the effort to learn the right settings for photography and video will be more than enough to get the job done in any genre. Might even get a 2nd X-T4 if I go from semi to full pro. When it comes to autofocus, is it only the tracking where the X-H2s is superior or are there other factors? Reason I'm asking is when I use single point continuous or zone AF for action along with area AF for video, I feel the X-T4 is pretty awesome.
The X-T4 is still so capable! The X-H2s is a better video camera for sure. With the processor and sensor it has better autofocus tracking for sure. Subject detection such as animals, planes, trains etc I’d definitely wait a bit before upgrading at any point 🙏🏻
I have no need for the blown-up image size of the X-T5 with 40+Mpixel. Ridiculous. I am happy with my X Pro3, only missing IBIS sometimes for use with my slow vintage lenses. But Wife-acceptance- factor is not sufficient and my argument with midlife crisis is slowly wearing thin.
I owned the T-T4 and X-T30. I've now owned the X-T5 for more than year. The X-T4 is still great. The X-T4 maybe feels more robust than the X-T5. I believe the X-T4 might even 'scan' 50% faster than my X-T5 when using electronic shutter (reducing rolling shutter and barring). But there's no doubt the X-T5 is an upgrade (slightly lighter, more resolution, AI autofocus options, additional film simulation etc). Just not in anything that makes a big difference - unless you really need that resolution, which very few people do. I think the X-T5 may behave marginally better in low light than the X-T4, but that's always going to be subjective because the X-T5's individual pixel photocytes must be smaller and so are naturally going to gather light less consistently each - there's just more of them to even things out and make ISO fuzz more 'lightly dusted'. (As Scotty in Star Trek probably said, "you can't cheat the laws of physics, captain"). Note that the higher resolution means the X-T5's image files take up over 50% more storage space.
I'm probably overthinking it but I am afraid to wear out the lens mount of my x-h2s swapping between the 150-600 and 80mm lenses so much when outside photographing nature, I have considered a second hand x-t4 as a secondary camera for macro video and photos since quality wise it's very close with log and raw
Its definitely not as good as the xh2s and xt5 when it comes to autofocus that is for sure! But its something you can definitely overcome, also with a fast prime lens which helps a lot
The hard sell for the X-T4 is the X-S20. Only about $100-200 difference between them but the X-S20 has a newer processor, more video features, faster AF and new film simulations
I love my xt4!! I’ve had it for 3 years. Just went to Tokyo and shot a cinematic short film for my RU-vid channel and it held up so well ! Footage looked awesome ! It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to look at it lol
Thanks for replying ! It’s the latest post on this account ! The video entitled “cinematic Tokyo” :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UWStIM1lL1o.htmlsi=UePxnRFy_c1uSxV4
