I purchased a 323is about 6 months ago. Had about 242k miles completely gutted. For the most part I’ve restored interior. Only engine problems I’ve had are constant misfires in cylinders 4&6 but went away after chasing fuel injectors. A few days ago my oil filter housing broke off. Replaced with a metal one from m3. Now my thermostat housing is leaking coolant 🙃. Word of advice it’s a such a nice car but as someone who got it as his first car I wouldn’t do it again unless you have grand knowledge of the platform and a stable job to keep pouring money. I love the car though.

I'm happy in my 1995 325i convertible with 88k miles. No paint, rust, electrical, and interior problems. I'm about to replace the belt since it's about to hit 90k soon and I do plan on getting a metal water pump and coolant reservoir. Tomorrow I'm dropping it off to get a brand new convertible top just cause the adhesive and bat wings were broken. After I get that back I'm doing the pulley since I've been hearing a squeaky sound whenever it's on drive or reverse while holding the brakes. But other than that it's perfect. Can't complain for my first car.

I bought one not too long ago here in Hungary its a 323i coupe santorini blau. It is a highly equipped one and it was pretty cheap around 2k in dollars which is cheap here. I bought it because I love the sound that this beast makes the lines that it has and I love the car overall. But I got screwed over when I looked under when I was buying the car it doesnt seemed too bad, but the car mechanic sad that its unsafe to drive and that we should report the company who sold this to us.... so here I am I bought my first car (it was my dream car too)at the age of18 and its just sitting in the garage I cant use it I dont really have the money to repair the rust issues they told me that it would be around 1500in dollars so almost as much as the car was. so guys if you want to buy an e36 the first thing is the rust everything else is kinda cheap to fix,but the rust and that is a very common issue with these old bmw's!

When you say maintenance, what type of maintenance should I be doing? And how often? Weekly? Monthly? Lmk Looking into e36 rn and don’t want to run into a money pit

Yea, i wish i could buy and e36 for 500-600 bucks but well here in slovenia you can't get quite well maintained 318i under 3k€
