Honestly loved using this tank once you get the aiming down you will one shot everything but even if you don't the enemy can't shoot back cause hitting anywhere on the front of there tank usually kills some crew and blows the gun and tracks off

I'm gonna be honest, this tank is some of the most fun I've had in WarThunder in the past few years. It is simply so enjoyable to be able to look at anything, and if you're able to hit them, have a guaranteed kill or hard disable. The gun's poor velocity, while being a real kick in the teeth at first, will soon become one your most valuable assets as your ability to rounds over cover is just absolutely crucial to getting easy kills in it. The amount of time I've lobbed a shell over a rock to dunk on a Tiger 2 is too great to count. This tank is my main SL grinder as it's great modifier and incredibly enjoyable playstyle make the grind feel more like a British dunking montage.

I love my AVRE had it since its released and now its even better with the british 7.3 lineup .Its fun to watch Light tanks literally shit themselves when they see you up close lol

I used the AVRE to grind from halfway up rank IV to Rank VI. It is my favourite tank, glorious British steel. There is nothing better than absolutely decimating some Wehraboo with copious amounts of HESH after they fire some lowly shell that is stopped by your ERA. Beans on toast is a national treasure.

I mainly play arcade and its my most favourite tank that i have ever purchased with golden eagles. The tank is insanely hard to kill, you have a 90% to one shot eveything, you have the ability to repair all of your teammates that is not in your squad, really good in cqc, and you can easily change the tide of battle from losing to winning if you play your cards right. But rb is a totally different story in which i cannot tell because i dont play rb.

I first started playing War Thunder when the STRV 81 was the highest premium tank in the tree and the one I chose and suffered with. If I had the choice to restart the British Ground tree I would choose the Centurion AVRE to grind it.

the avre needs very specific playstyles to really shine. one is to master indirect fire - it is basically build to throw 50kg bombs at its target and the second strategy thats works for me is the trapdoorspider - hide in an ally and peak out to kill everything that comes close. i really enjoed unlocking the british tech tree with it.

This is a perfect example of a high risk, high reward tank. It looks badass but isn't worth the price IMO. Lovely review!

You forgot to mention (or I'm deaf), Cent AVRE is an engineering vehicle, so you can repair everyone in battle, not just your platoon members. I bought my AVRE as first premium tank in War Thunder, and I grinded entire british ground forces tech tree with it. This tank gives plenty of fun, and that smile when you snipe someone from a long distance is priceless. In the last patches HESH rounds was nerfed, but AVRE is still very enjoyable.

Its actually a great tank if your in a squad because you can just about have friendlies call your shots while you're behind cover and basically be an artillery piece. Also this tank is super fun in arcade

Best to write down a note. Note is your friend. Note is your rangefinder. Sniper always use note before shoot. Now use that note in War Thunder. It will save you from lot of trouble. Also save your time.

Miss the target and the fragments will kill the enemy. I killed around 5 while captuing a zone. 1 shot kills

Just picked up the avre on sale and I must say my experience has only been positive. Perhaps something has changed since the video was recorded, but the shell is extremely deadly. Very rarely have I not one shot an enemy. Grinding the tech tree happens fast when you are just having fun.

Personally I disagree with you. I got this vehicle almost as a joke and set about acing the crew as well as maxing all their stats. The result was a vehicle which, yes, has a slow reload but if used with that in mind was a) deadly and b) survivable. With the crew at the level they're at, I get very accurate estimations out to almost 1km which is fine and most of the time the round decimates the target. I've killed all sorts from light skin AAs all the way up to T-80s and Leopard 2s etc with it. I generally play in support of another player when I take it out which means I've got cover but also can help dislodge tough enemies with it. Something you didn't touch on here which I feel noteworthy is that the slow munition/ high trajectory allows you to fire from behind cover. I personally set the sights to 200m or 400m depending on the map and then find cover and use my binos to range. Then fire and watch as that giant L33 HESH curves over the hill or cover I'm behind and impacts the target. Most of the time the target is totally destroyed and when not, the vast majority of those times its gun and tracks go and usually a crewmember/ other components damaged. This allows the team to then KO that target and we move on go the next. Is it the best grinder? Probably not, but it's actually not bad. I usually rack up quite a few kills with it because, as stated before, it's very survivable. I've had a BMP-1 smashing me with 73mm HEAT, point blank and I was still able to repair, target, fire and KO him before he was able to finish me off. Granted I was down to 2 crew and the reload was measured in days but it still survived 5 or 6 HEAT at point blank. Show me another vehicle in game which will reliably do that? One thing I'll say massively in favour of the AVRE is its fun. The level of satisfaction when your giant HESH folds some KT that was cruising about as if it was invincible is a great feeling to have.

Review of this tank from some random guy on the Internet (me) 10 out of 10 support tank Good survivability Can repair allies Slow speed is both good and bad good as it allows you to follow behind your allies and the map would develop by the time you reach the front line The gun is good enough to one shot most stuff if it does not one shot well its definitely an easy kill for your allies While the reload isn't that good its still decent atleast when you think of it more as a support tank instead of a tank that's made to kill other tanks The dozer now works its not the best but it can be used to dig in if your alone to try and hold of Good protection from the front and back I have somehow survived 6 shots to the engine due to it just absorbing the enemy shots during this time you can call it arty etc warn your team ask for help All in all if you like support role I'd consider this tank if you want a tank that's more for combat this one might not be for you although it could work as a longer range sniper once you learn the cannon

My advice wait for sales and it is extremly fun it is woth it idk why you are saying that ita bad for griding i grindes the british tech tree from the FV4002 to the chalanger mk3 with ease in about 3 weeks and i play casualy

it's worth noting, this thing is cancer in arcade since you can fire over terrain and the target range is displayed on the HUD.

I would love to buy this tank, if it had half of it's reload time.... I want to get it, but I can't think that the Rooikat would be a Much better buy, and now with the Aussie Cent coming, I don't think of a reason to the the AVRE anymore, unless it goes on sale with 75% discount, which is impossible, hahahaha. It's a shame that it is soo expensive, it looks fun if not taken seriously, but the price even et half price is too much for what it delivers, The obj120 and the Doom Turtle are much better bonk guns in my opinion and I believe they can be as fun as the AVRE.... Still, I'm hopping for more UK premium vehicles, they are usually very fun, I like them a lot.

Bought it years ago, played a handfull of games but then left it.. I still like it, just got tired of constant uptiers, trash teams and combined Russian and German teams.. Not the tank´s fault.. I need to play it a bit again, on good maps atleast..

Important note to this review: it’s about RB, but AVRE is good for arcade. You always know distance to enemies, so you can shoot even at long ranges, I really enjoy sniping targets behind a cover from distance, in arcade it’s always in my lineup even for high BR

Should you buy the AVRE? Do you take this game seriously? if yes then no, if no then yes. Thing a laugh but is definitely not competitive, its a meme for a reason, and its a great meme
