Nice video, i had many of the same issues as you with the KO Nano Controller, and could never get it to feel right when riding the bike. I ended up purchasing a EBMX controller a couple of days ago instead, and so far its great, thats definitely the way to go rather than a KO Controller.
@@stingyrogerr for the throttle inaccuracy problems I recommend setting the throttle response to eco mode and turning up the sensitivity all the way. Solved all the issues for me.
Hey man! Thanks for commenting! My throttle is on normally eco @224 sensitivity (the guys at ko said standard is better for throttle latency but i found eco to be best like you said)! I partly solved it by finding the ideal phase amps to dc amps ratio, currently at 180a dc and 480 phase amps the throttle response is ok but not quite as torquey as I would like it to be but I guess itll have to do! Thanks for watching and thanks for your suggestion bro! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the comment bro! Good to hear you had the same experience at first- I think the KO nano is fine for stock/bypassed batteries, once you exceed the 150A mark like me is where the nano cannot cut it anymore! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate you watching and commenting I spent weeks and weeks tinkering and adjusting and have finally made my own good tune which is almost perfect, i’d say its 98% there. I’ll make a video on it really soon! I was fed up asking on the KO groups for help and getting the response ‘we all have throttle hang we’re trying to figure it out ourselves’ 🤣🤣🤣 Appreciate the support man! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Hey, thanks glad you enjoyed it. i know the pro controller has this issue but mot sure if their newest factory spec does… will try and get my hands on one soon and report back with a video on the channel! 👍🏻
I purchased nano not long ago also. I'd agree with this review. If you are sure you can not afford over 1k for controller upgrade, nano is an option. I regretted not getting better controller fist 10 seconds of use. In hindsight, KO products should probably be voided in general. Look into bac or ebmx..
Totally agree! Ive been running the KO ever since this video if you watch some of my new videos and wheelies ext you will see i have mastered my tune if you want me to share with you reach out via instagram @stingyrogerr. Ive tried the ebmx, BAC & torp all on the channel. Torp is my favourite but not for MX3 yet unfortunately. Ebmx x9000 has its own issues too. Thanks for watching!
@@stingyrogerr I have 2. Both 60v 32ah one of Which is bypassed. This is for my Segway x260. Using the app I run 2 different tunes depending on which battery im using. For the bypassed I’m currently running a 8.4kw tune
Ah! That explains it! Thanks for watching BTW - When you run a bit more power the ko nano throttle is terrible, i run 12kw - ko claim the controller is good for up to 17kw! At 8kw my throttle is fine only once you go over 10kw you will notice it. Id rather not have the controller if I have to only use 8kw to get a good throttle response, I wish I had gotten a BAC! 👍🏻 slowly getting used to throttle latency though!
@@stingyrogerr ok I'm assuming you've played around with all the different throttle settings in the app as well as the advanced tab in the power settings where you can fully customize how much power to use throughout the rpm range?
I was not to happy with mine as well just real touchy like you said while riding not real smooth I just went bac4k lots of people will be fine with it intill they use a bac4k with a good tune...
My man! Im looking for other options also, apparently its an aesthetically tweaked fardriver controller? Thats what I’ve been told by a lot of people anyway!
Hey, thanks for the comment! Ive had 3 tune sessions and calibrated the throttle and motor correctly over 5 times each. Theres hundreds of people with this issue and KO attempt to hide it by covering it up with regen 👍🏻 i have tried changing the throttle with no luck, its a software problem at this point 💔
@@stingyrogerr me and my 2 bros must be a special breed then side it gold , wheelie for days but you do you I guess I didn’t say calibrate your throttle I said change it out
hey broski, thanks! change my talaria sting throttle out to what.. domino or somthing? what throttle would you reccomend? I would love for this to be sorted man!
I also was considering to buy this one as a "basic" upgrade. If you were in my shoes, what would you buy today (Feb 2024) at this price?. I still have original engine and battery, I'm just upgrading wheels and tires (bought from Milkracing with your code), front and rear suspensions and brake set. Thanks mate
Hey man! Thanks for watching! And thank you for the support. I would use the nucular or torp controller, i have tested both on the channel!, i think for stock battery TORP will give you. more power and you can still run it if you upgrade to aftermarket battery later. I have a discount code for the tc500 from TORP website which is ‘Stingy5’ 👍🏻
Hey man, I ran eco @224 for 2 months! Once the app came out the eco setting restricted the bike to 150A DC, I checked with ian on KO discord who confirmed it restricts to 150A and to use standard for anything higher which is dumb? I agree it does feel nicer, not perfect though!
@@stingyrogerr Wtf? What if you just like the throttle profile on ECO? Lol. That seems like a completely pointless limitation. I ride pretty much 80% street, so I'm still looking to get the Nano, but I hope all this stuff gets ironed eventually.
If you want to spend more money than on a far driver equivallent, YES, they are the same controller? I have a ND72530 with the exact same issue, tryed 2 throttles still there, can't weelie
I would suggest getting help from KO on your tune. Also the harness is fully waterproof as the controller is ip67 rated. I should know i have ridden it through 2ft of water on multiple occasions . I dont think you have this set up correctly at all. Also the stuff that electron cycles tell you is simply not true. Reach out for KO for help if you have issue you can resolve lots of these problems with a proper tune, rather than trying to work out what is best yourself or taking advice form electron cycles who are not experts at tuning this kit at all.
Ian, you tuned it a couple of weeks ago over the phone and we started from scratch with it recalibrating the throttle motor and everything. I followed your instruction so whatever is on here is what you have guided us into doing. It says no profile as i have not given it a name or made more than one profile. I followed your word from start to finish and you were watching my screen. Nothing has been changed since and without you physically riding the bike and feeling what I’m feeling you cant solve it ? I think the best thing for the future is for you to make a tune for which has an accurate and non hanging throttle, tuned on one of KO’s Surron & also one for a Talaria and then post them online for other users to copy. Ie one each for 6,8,10&12kw levels ( infact if thats possible why hasnt that been done yet and stopped all the people who have throttle issues!!!!)
@@stingyrogerr The reason for the delay is some time in power regulation. This explains the better performance with less power. This is due to the internal software of the processor. The processor power is not enough for a faster response.
@@stingyrogerr it's nice and probably the smartest option it's tried and true and been on top for years... right after I bought it they started talking about the x9000 and I kind of wish I'd of got that. It seems like a badass controller, but I prob made the best choice because I don't really want to have to tune my controller and the x9000 needs some tuning to set it up. You could prob sell your ko and not lose much the get a bac
Damn right man! I think the x9000 looks good too at the moment but since its a new product it will have some bugs down the line! I appreciate you watching, plenty more content to come weekly 😎
@@stingyrogerr lol ya prob wise to wait till they workout whatever bugs they come across that's to be expected with anything new though. Too bad I pre ordered the talaria before they even came out at all, don't get me wrong it's am excellent bike and better than a surron but if I'd of waited a year well they came out with the new R so lol that was kind of a slap in the face but it's all good doesn't matter once you start modding it anyways.
On surron or talaria? And stock un-bypassed or with a bypass? So many variables and also depends on the year of the bike! On my next video ill be installing a controller with a stock battery without a bypass and it goes from 4.8kw to almost 6kw!
Yes, and their motor is shipping out in light blue instead of the blue on their website that matches the controllers. More content to come. Make sure to subscribe to see more upgrades reviews riding and moto vlogs!
Yes, the speedometer reads the speed but the regen buttons or levels do not work. Eco/sport still works too. Have a look in the video you may be able to see my display/speedometer. With the KO app you can set the speedometer to correct GPS speed
