Agree with everything. Only two 2.0 USB on back! That said, best computer I have purchased and used now for well over a year, and I have been buying computers since about 1983. Love it. Plenty good for MSFS and VR. They are now starting to come out with same computer and an RTX 40xx on Amazon.
Bought the one that comes with a I7 and 3060 about 5 months back and it gets the job done. I’m currently shopping around for a better PSU, and motherboard in order to transfer the GPU and CPU into another case.
This is the first video I've watched on this channel, I just ordered the i7 / 3060 version. Excited to get it, just thought I'd check some reviews out of curiosity. Sure, it sounds like this thing isn't groundbreaking, but I was looking for reliability and value and I think that's what's on the way to my house. I enjoyed this review, except for the emphasis on an SD card. I've been gaming for over 30 years and I've never had an occasion where an SD card slot would improve my experience in any way. I'm not sure why it's emphasized in the review; SD readers have nothing to do with gaming, and Lenovo obviously made and marketed this as a gaming PC.
thanks for the review! i think ill buy this mainly for the graphics card, although there’s no sd card slot? i guess i could buy an adapter. do you think the case would hanfle being spraypainted?
I purchased one with i5-12400F + RTX 3060 about a year ago and still use it, recently constantly battling with temperatures being super high even when i replace paste and lack of space to add or upgrade the pc, looking at the wire management in my pc for the first time nearly gave me a stroke because of how terrible it was, i watched many videos of this PC to learn how to break it down for cleaning etc and some of my components seem to be in different places than other people do, MUCH more annoying to get into. Wish i had the effort to learn how to build one myself back then because once i started learning about computers etc now i want to change pretty much everything apart from the GPU & CPU and i regret my choice being impatient and lazy, however at the time it felt great because of the massive upgrade from a i5-750 + GTX 670 😢
Hey Chris G this was a great Review, i personally own a Lenovo Ideacentre gaming 5i And im very happy with this PC, i love a great descent gaming mashine that works well and does the job, i dont regret buying it Your Reviews are awesome peace out✌
@@NERODE_ i play many games on it For example, Red Dead Redemption 2, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Baldur's Gate 3, Ghost of Tsushima etc..... It works perfect and just fine
For the casual gamer, these things are fine. My Lonovo came with 16 GB ram, and 1 TB SSD. But I was disappointed in the headset jack. For whatever reason, when I plug my corsair headset in there, the computer doesn't even recognize it. I had to buy a USB adaptor for my headset and can't get my mic to work.
I have one and it is descent. However .. issues. it has 1 PCIe x16 Gen 4 slot which is used for the GPU. So you cannot add anything. As I am not a gamer I pulled the GPU out and added an additional M.2 NVMe SSD. I am using VGA .. I know right, it is pretty sad that it is SO restricted.
Hi, thanks for the video! I don't see many others on this rig. I know a lot of time passed since you posted this, but, if you got time, I'd really like if you could answer some questions about it please. I was looking at the Ryzen 5600G w/3060 12GB (non Ti) and 8GB of ram and a 512GB SSD. I would like to replace the 8gb RAM stick with 2x8 DDR4 3200mhz RAM of my own, but I'm hearing that "if you plan on adding/replacing RAM for this, just know that the BIOS is locked on these things and that you can't really change the speed of the RAM (it'll be downclocked to like 2133mhz)" do you know if this is true or not? Another doubt of mine is that I would like to add another SSD of mine (a 2.5 Sata) do you know if it's possible to do so? Does it need a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter? Or it only allows another m.2 nvme ssd? In any case, thanks for even reading this!
I don't believe the RAM is speed locked unless you're pairing it with a slower stick. I could be wrong though I'm sorry. And yes you can add another 2.5 no problem!
There is a version with i5-12400F and gtx 1650 super. I know the GPU is kinda old but it is upgradeable right? I would play counter strike with this pc
Ok I purchased this PC in a panic, because my old MSI i5 crapped out just as I was sending monthly invoices to my subscribers. I don't play games, I run QuickBooks, Fire / burg software, LOGOS bible software, that's it. I transferred the old pci card with 4 usb slots from the MSI to my new LENOVO. My LENOVO worked great and my old MSI was revived! PCI board creep was my problem. How do I expand the USB slots? should I invest in a new PCI card or try a USB-C hub plugged into the front (none in the rear)? Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hey, I bought one of these a while ago and I've been extremely concerned about the tempatures the cpu can reach. The gpu, while gaming, is usually no higher than 70 in SUPER intense situations, and in normal situations it's around 50-60, resting at 30-40. The cpu, on the other hand, while idle, sits around 50-60 (hell sometimes it peaks to 90 completely randomly??), and when gaming, in super intense situations, can get as high as 90! Under normal situations, it's always around 70 - 80. It's an i7 12700 and I've heard that it's a very hot chip and temperatures like this are normal, but it's just too high for me to feel safe with. So, with that being said, I have two questions. Firstly, Is this really a normal temp for an i7? Do I really have nothing to worry about? and two, you said you could replace the fan if need be although there isn't much space, so what would be a good fan that could keep my cpu cooler, but also fit inside? I'm extremely worried about affecting the performace of my computer or worse, frying it completely. Thanks for reading
90* for an i7 under load is normal yes. You can't fry the CPU completely, they are designed to shut down under bad temperatures so you wont ruin anything. As for better fans, something like this: amzn.to/3KNRXUH would offer better performance.
Thanks for this review. I am about to purchase 3 of these for my triplets, except that they have i7 12700F and RTX 3060. Wou)d this be able to run their games on 1080p monitors at 240hz (fps)? Could I upgrade the graphics card later to RTX 3080 if needed for higher resolution monitors down the road? Also. with an HDMI port on the GPU, won't sound go through HDMI negating any need for other sound output options? Isn't DP, HDMI, 1 USB-C and 2 USB 2.0 enough for most people, and wouldn't a USB hub through the USB-C port solve the issue for those who need more? Asking to find out what I'm not considering, cause I'm excited to find an RTX 3060 desktop I can afford.
i have this same pc but with a 5700G and a 3060, big issue is they keep the 500W power supply so it causes alot of issues with usb traffic pulling too much power forcing the computer to shut down the usb slots, which means i have to upgrade the PSU.
I purchased with a i7 and rtx 3060 from Costco. It’s been “good” so far, however, I don’t know if there is much room for a graphics card upgrade at the least. Somewhat disappointing. Do you know of a graphics card upgrade that would fit?
Hey Sean, I’m looking into the exact same pc you bought. Have you tried any demanding/AAA games? If so, how was it? Also, I heard one of the reviews say the pc doesn’t have an HDMI port only VGA, is this true?
@@capped2259 if the computer has a dedicated graphics card, and all of these IdeaCentre Gaming should, then it will almost certainly have an HDMI port.
I personally am very interested in this pc. I don't rlly care if there are rgb lights and id prefer if it was prebuilt. I currently have a pc that is over 5/6 yrs old and keeps crashing a couple of my steam games and then crashes chrome. (I really only play like 4 games on steam and then one game outside of steam). So please let me know if you think this pc is going to work for my steam games bc I am just trying to look for something not over 1k lol
@@ComputerStuffthank you! I actually got it and it arrived today. I do have an old monitor that’s probably 12+ yrs old. I tried to use it and the monitor would turn on but would say “no connection check the visual cable” so I’m unsure if maybe my monitor isn’t compatible with this pc?
So I got one of these a while ago, it was great so far, but when I play minecraft and everytime a new chunk loads in I get weird stutters and it really makes it unplayable. Not really sure what could be causing this, it used to run great
I would have hoped that the review would have mentioned if the motherboard follows ATX spec or if it's proprietary form factor like the ones used in Dell and HP towers? I was surprised to find that this thing had standard PSU at least.
Can you upgrade cpu, and cpu cooler, I switch to 12400f to i5 13600kf and different psu (750 watt) but I get 80 Celsius on my cpu and I’m worried that the performance will go bad
This is not an "upgradeable" computer. If you want something to mod later on you should build your own. If the CPU has the same socket structure there is a chance it will work depending if Lenovo hasnt locked it in BIOS, and you may be able to fit a superior cooler in this case as well depending on the size you get.
Hey! I’m kinda late to this video but if you can respond that would be great :) I’m wondering how well this runs for lower class and not super demanding games like fortnight and Roblox or Minecraft on max graphics on a 1400p monitor.
Is this computer worth buying for a 10-year-old? It will be his first gaming PC, and he likes Minecraft, Roblox and so on. Pls help out here. With 8 GB Ram it seems not like a good gaming PC. But what do I know. Is it noisy?
So i can replace the power supply for a normal one with an adapter? I'm asking because you say you can replace it with an adapter 8 pin to 16 pin but the normal psu is 24 pin and as far as i know this pc has a 10 pin psu.
@@ComputerStuff thank you for your quick response. I just got mine today. and was thinking of replacing the power supply but i'm afraid that it has to be a specific cable so it doesn't burn the motherboard. Do you think any 10 to 24 pin works or could it be diferente from maker to maker?
@@paulopires5931 Congrats on new PC. Any 10 to 24 pin should work fine. ATX is a universal architecture - guarantee'd you'll be ok. If not.. I'll buy you a new one ;)
@@ComputerStuff thank you for the information. I'll see where i can find one here in Portugal. For now it's a very good machine for gaming. Too bad there isn't more USB ports on the back especialy USB 3 but i'll probably find a USB C HUB to connect and get more ports or a PCIe USB Card after i get another SATA Power cable.
I dont have our demo unit anymore, but if I recall the case was pretty packed and didn't have room to mount another fan - but would love someone else to weigh in on this.
Hey, is there xmp on this pc? I've been looking for it for some time as I bought new 64 gb ddr4 3200 mhz ram however it is running at 2133 mhz. The 16gb stock ram was running at 3200 but this new one isn't. Can someone help?
because my other pc ( a dell 3881 ) wont accept the hard disc (exos) ,,,,, the usb plays up as soon as it is installed many thanks............ this pc ( the lenovo wont do that will it )?? many thanks..............
I have i5 11th, 3060, 16gb ram, 1tb ssd would like in future cpu coller to change for somwthing myb better so is that possible, i mean psu will be okay?
I don't recall if the front I/O including power button is proprietary. If it is then moving to another case may be difficult. What dont you like about the case?
@@ComputerStuff personally I like more rgb. I also really want a white case with tempered glass side and a 360mm aio. I actually bought this computer for $550 brand new in auction here in my city so that’s why I don’t spending couple more bucks to get it out that ugly case. Ugly to me at least. I was gonna build my own pc was gonna take me like 2-3 months but for $550 didn’t seem like a bad deal
im getting the i5 / GTX 1650S version as i just want a decent budget gaming pc upgrading from a 2013 optiplex with integrated, and i am not planning to play anything heavy as my integrated gpu can manage to run it but its not really fun having to tinker and i just want something new
all good my friend. The RAM can be upgraded to 32GB. Here is a reasonably priced RAM on amazon that will work well. amzn.to/3P9x0o2 @@maiyuransabanathan4566
Is there an additional m.2 slot I could use ? feels like I saw one but not sure there is enough room for it. I'll be running it off an ethernet cable anyway so I don't mind losing wifi/bluetooth
There is it's just hiding under or over the heat sync nvme slot. However be careful when removing or adding upgrades to it. It doesn't use screws. They use plastic caps that are onetime use, you'll have to buy a new one just to seal it tight. Overall, this computer I use for game studio or 2d/3d art studio work! And it's an amazing computer for that! For high 64 ram, i7 gen 12, and 3060 gpu! I'm more FHD person but idc about 4k resolution
@@ComputerStuff yea ive been watching videos and now see how dumb that question is i got two 16 gb tforce sticks of ram what kind of fan would you recommend that would fit?
A 4070 generally does use less power than a 3070 however I wouldn't recommend any high end card with the power supply they provide. I mean... you can.... maybe.... but will it be optimized? ...
Hi Chris. Which other pre built gaming pc under 1200$CAD would you recommend for my daughter whoo like to play games like Sims4 or other games in Steam ?
Thanks for the review! Can anyone tell me what drive holds the operating system, the HDD or the NVME? I would love to turf the HDD before firing it up,(still in box)and slide in an ssd.
@ComputerStuff You are incredible. Thank you Besbuy...not a clue Geek Squad would diagnose my "problem" for $39.95 Lenova said they would put me in touch with their parts department to sell me" the correct HDD" This is the world we live in.
I got this PC this manufacture does not give you any software support for free .the 12 gigs of the gpu video graphics card is not even good for gaming you is computers over $1,000
Yes, Lenovo HP Dell all became pro scammers, ihhhhhssss, unreplaceable "shitty proprietary" parts and these totally should be avoided, don't even review these 👎👎
@@xeno5219 not really no. Initial load time is sus cuz i have fortnite on hdd, but otherwise its perfect. Dx12 felt weird and choppy and wasnt as smooth as dx11
i am about to purchase this pc please some1 tell me if it supports a 3.5 inch internal seagate exos x20 or x18 terabyte hard disc drive? many thanks...........
