is it bad thermals/perf because of size?
@Sergeeeek
@Sergeeeek 3 месяца назад
@@wheezel55 I got an AMD 7600, these new AMD chips target 95c at full load, so no matter what cooler you have thermals will be the same lol. But if your cooling is good it will hit higher clocks at full load for longer. In my case I also undervolted the cpu quite a bit and it started getting slightly higher clocks. It's hard to measure that though, so I don't have exact numbers. As for gpu, 4070 is pretty efficient. I can play Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing and DLSS balanced for hours. I get around 100-120 fps (with frame gen, so really like 50-60). There is no throttling or anything, so the cooling is good enough. Thermals are not a problem, but noise might be.

i think its mostly because they are hobbyists trying to be producers. Bit late to this but the PSU should have a little more headroom if you're measuring off the wall socket directly. With the peak efficiency being at 94%, in theory you could pull power up to the point the reading hits 265W - probably a bit more though as PSU's generally arent as efficient at such high loads Awesome build though, glad to see more 3d printed cases are taking off as there's so much more potential for new stuff to come to market without the crazy expenses around full metal prototype builds

Watching this, I could totally see similarities with Optimum Tech's vids especially in the presentation and style, and also in the scripts (I think I heard some familiar phrases also spoken by Ali on his sff build guide particularly on the intro for the pc components, dont know if its just me lol). Also, they both use 3D printers from the same brand (coincidence? idk). But anyways, the main distinction bet. this and Ali's sff builds is that Ali shows the use of modified components (e.g. perfect length cables, custom pcb controllers, 3D printed cases, etc.) whereas Devyn's builds focuses on PC's which you can simply buy the parts and build them yourself without the need for modifications. Although Ali does also have vids without the use of custom components. I would say I still prefer Ali's vids, but I dont have any qualms with getting inspiration (Its just the way the world works). Anyways, great vid and hope you continue with the creating great content.

Not happening unless Nvidia decides to move the --80 cards way down from the 300W+ TDP power envelope they've been at for the past couple of generations. Their workstations cards like the RTX 4000 Ada SFF are proof that Nvidia's perfectly capable of making relatively powerful cards with a low TDP, but they haven't applied any such strategy to their Geforce line yet.

Depending on the materials you use, you can actually have an incredibly strong, rigid and heat resistant build. PETG is not bad. But it's a lot more brittle than even PLA, so even with higher heat resistance, it's definitely not going to be more durable. Printing in ABS, ASA, PC and PA12/PA6 (Nylon) especially when carbon fibre reinforced, will yield leaps and bounds more rigidity, tensile and compressive strength, impact resistance, and most importantly heat resistance. In the order of magnitude of 2-3 times that of PETG when you get up to Nylon (especially carbon fibre reinforced nylon). PETG is just not an ideal solution here. While it will work, it's a place they have decided to cheap out instead of using better and more robust materials. Only time will tell if that decision was worthwhile.
@richardduba9151

The thing is, with all cases on this channel that tried to utilize the Low Profile 4060, all were suboptimal because they completely block the airflow of this gpu. Having vertical fins on the heatsink, it pushes the air on two sides and it were always blocked in all cases featured here. However, there's one case that's actually MADE for the 4060 LP. It's the A24-v5. The panels are vented EXACTLY where they should, so the used warm the air of the gpu can leave the case instead of getting immediately blocked and trapped like here, and every other that was featured. For this reason, I think the A24-v5 is the best for the LP model (riserless, 70mm cpu cooling clearance, 3mm thick panels) and the Velka 3 is the winner for anyone having a single fan gpu.

@richardduba9151
@richardduba9151 6 месяцев назад
@@devyn.johnstonThe riser is blocking it on the other side. Same with the Gemcase where the psu blocks it and with the HT5, it's the closed panel of the case itself. With the A24-v5, there's a vented line on the backside as well where the gpu exhausts, so that should result in even better temps at load scenarios and also could be layed horizontally like this one. It could prove to be a nice comparison and how sturdy it is, it's definitely up for travel. This video is great for mentioning how the i5 is more suitable for 40mm clearance - that's very useful for people getting inspired to tacke one of these compact cases. Keep up the good work:)

Awesome build congrats!!! The only potential problem i see here is long term for the PSU! If you're an intensive gamer, constantly pushing the limits, the PSU might die after some months or even earlier! At least 300-350W is mandatory for a system with these specs to be safe in the long term. Now, if you go APU like a 8700G which i think should be the purpose of these tiny builds, then a 200-250W PSU is more than enough :D and i'm probably building one next year with ZEn5 APU!

a mod they can do for the case is covering the sides of the holes with brass and having a lane of brass that runs all across the inner sides of the case. This way the case will act more like a heatsink and it will also look a bit mor cool in my opinion. It will obviously increase the price, but since in this niche is fine spending 150 bucks for a case then why don't have a 170/180 bucks case that has this truly valuable plus?

First video I have seen from you. On the Ryzen have you gone into the bios and set it to run in ECO mode before? Curious also then how the performance would stack against the intel chip. I know a lot of users run their Ryzen chips in ECO mode and say they only lose a bit of performance but the power draw and heat difference is pretty significant.

I got a secondhand HDPlex 250W off from a seller who told had it powering a 1050ti inside a Nintendo 8bit housing and it still has some mysterious red markings on its one side, matching really well in the Nintendo-red plastic :D On my system its been powering a 1070 for a year already in open air build, dissipating some heat into aluminium rack its zip-tied to, works well.

I wonder how longevity is with the case being plastic and heat being generated. Also, the 250W power seems lowkey concerning but I wonder how it is longer term usage.

That looks like a classy little case

I'll sticky with my old Raven RVZ01B. It is almost 14 liters, but at least I can have the 7800X3D, 4080 Super in it and 16TB of Jellyfin media. But if I had lower requirements for a PC this would be a cool one.

It's not just about the smallest case, it's being the smallest while still having unaffected performance, no thermal issues.

I love these small PCs. I thought I had a pretty small build with the IQUNIX ZX-1 case. My case is 9.2L case which could fit 2.5x of the Yocto case. I put a i7-14700 and ARC A770 in my case so maybe the thermals work out better for me. ANyway nice build and nice review.

Can't wait for the Ryzen 9000G (or whatever name they give it) comes out. It should be comparable to a 4060, apparently. Then you'll do some crazy magic!

A Velka 3 clone seems like a much more sensible pick. It's just a tiny bit bigger, but cheaper, made out of metal, and has size for a full height GPU.

I feel like you can probably make this case yourself, it's so simple and you can outhouse the 3dprinting and machining of the brass parts... you just need to know how to make a 3d modell...

Amd 7xxx series boost until they hit 90c, if they can, you can change that in bios if you don't like it.

Amazing build! Can I know the length of your custom cables?

10cm for the gpu, 20cm for the 24 pin, 30cm for the cpu. They’re available at n3rdware.com/accessories/custom-hdplex-cables

Assuming this is slightly bigger than optimums build but the plus side is you can buy everything without the need for a 3d printer etc.

You're misunderstanding how the two cpu options you mentioned self regulate for power. The AMD chip intentionally draws more power as long as it sees temp headroom. Because it's not a problem at all for it to run just bellow 100C 24/7. Intel still locks down all their chips that don't have a K name... So the one you have here will barely ever break the 65W number on the specsheet. I think given AMD is so much more power efficient if you are worried about the temp numbers, go turn off PBO and take all the performance benefits.

I built the velka 3, in a similar way to yours. With the addition off a 2.5" ssd that you can fit between the 1U PSU and the case.

u cud technically make it smaller with a psu that goes along a long cable externally like some game consoles

So, if you set PL to 70% then you are down at 80 W GPU power draw. Combine it with a decent mem OC and you shouldn't lose much performance at all. At least if this 4060 behaves like other ADA cards normally do...
