NOT a TWIN TURBO!!! It's a (Twin powered/twin scroll)Single Turbo inline 6 cyl. engine. When making car videos, it's always a good idea to know the product..
You are, of course, correct! The Turbo is indeed a Twin Scroll, Twin Chamber, SINGLE Turbo. Many people refer to it as a Twin Turbo, and I guess I got caught up in that. But it is definitely a SINGLE Turbo. Thanks for pointing that out - I like my videos to be accurate, and I appreciate the correction!
@@cadreamdrives I am a car junkie and I have had plenty of twin turbo, as well as Twin Scroll Turbo chargers in my life(I'm in my 50s).. But more importantly, Thank you for being positive about it, and appreciating the correction. Rather than lashing out. As this is after all, the internet lol
I think that’s an excellent choice! I’m not a huge Macan fan. They are drop-dead gorgeous, but they are nowhere near as fun as the X4 M40i. Congratulations on your new car!
Hi Goddess, Thank you for watching and for your kind words. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Check out my event Video about the Rivian R1T for some more cool shots from Orange County. I’m so grateful that I get to live and play here every day! Come back - we have room for you! 😊
I had an X4. I'm so pleased I sold it. It's a brute to drive. The luggage area is disappointingly small. Those run-flats? Never again. The resale value was dreadful too. Sorry to rain on your parade!
So sorry to hear about your experience! You’re definitely not raining on my parade. We all have different preferences and experiences! For me, the X4 M40i turned out to be an awesome car. Very unique in many ways. In the end, ours was totaled, but we got paid around $5k more than we paid for it 3 years earlier, so definitely not a bad deal!
Run flats on 20" (and esp on 21") wheels is one of the reason for not being that comfortable. Try non-RFT. And for REAL non-comfortable ride try X4M lol.
Thank you very much! You’re in for a treat! The more I drive this car, the more I love it! I still believe that it’s not for everyone, but if you’re looking for a sporty car with an SUV’ish body, this is one of the best ones around. In my option, it blows the Macan S out of the water. I’m glad you enjoyed the vistas as well. I’m fortunate to live in a beautiful spot of the world!
Sorry - The above reply was actually posted by me as well, but under the identity of my other RU-vid Channel "Crypto Fool". I forgot to switch accounts before replying. Ooops! :)
Very nice spec!!! That is exactly what I would buy. I love the red! And the chrome grills!! I think black grills make it look cheap! I think the facelift looks really bad, I think yours is really beautiful!! I have a 2015 Melbourne RED BMW X4 M sport, every option, black interior, just like yours. I even have similar rims. Your car is the modern version of my exact car, and it looks fantastic! Is it worth going from the first Gen to this? Thanks!
It seems we are car twins! :D I have not had the pleasure of driving the previous generation of the X4s. I think upgrading to the newer gen comes down to what you prioritize in the car. There will be new tech, and the new body style arguably is quite a bit more modern than that of the previous gen. The power is supposedly the same and the torque is up a little bit. But the biggest difference is likely to be the exhaust. From what I understand, the 2019 is the only year with the crazy (good) exhaust on the M40i. It's really quite unique and it makes you grin every time you drive it. But the bottom line is, if you're happy with your '15, I don't see any immediately need to spend the money on the newer generation. However, if you're looking to upgrade to a car where everything is just a little bit newer, then current generation will fit your needs nicely!
And I love getting comments like yours! Thank you so much for watching and congratulations on the X4 order! It’s a car that’s very easy to love and I hope you’ll enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!
Good video, but would like to add a couple of points. This is a 2020 X4 M40i and not 2021 - the 2021 has a full digital cockpit screen and the engine puts out 382HP. And finally, the cracks and gurgles have reduced with the 2021. Finally, I am assuming your spec does not have Adaptive M suspension, which is available as an option in the M40i. Adaptive suspension improves the ride quality in the different modes. So that is something prospective buyers should seriously consider when spec'ing their car.
Thank you for your comment - you definitely know your X4s well! My car is actually a 2019 model. The 2021 in the title of the video was meant to reference when the video was made, but I can see how it could be taken to mean that I was talking about a 2021 model. It’s not so much the pops and crackles I mind - they are actually kind of cool. It’s not the exhaust sound under performance driving either - that can sound awesome as well! It’s more the general droning when just driving around. I think the car feeds it back in via the stereo, and it just doesn’t seem quite right to me. On the flip side, I’m also not pleased that I can’t hear the great exhaust node in my Porsche Cayenne S, so I’m hard to please 😊. My car does have the S2VF Adaptive Chassis option, and it can be brilliant at times. I just feel it should be more comfortable when I’m Comfort mode. I also have conventional tires on (not run flats), so I think I have the most comfortable setup possible (short of switching to smaller rims).
@@cadreamdrives Ah yes, my bad - I should have said 2019 or 2020 X4 M40i. But I appreciate your response, glad to see someone out here sharing as much and as honestly as possible :)
Hi Judy, Thank you for you kind comments - they mean a lot to me! For the current model year, the X4 is 4" wider than the 3-Series. The X4 is 76" wide and the 3-Series is 72" wide.
@@malakyahmalla8009 The ride is definitely on the stiffer side. Since our car has the rate option of “regular” tires, it does ride a tiny bit smoother than most, but the suspension is definitely geared towards sportiness over comfort. The larger wheels with lower profile tires of course adds to that as well. If you want a fun and sporty car, this car has all of that. If you want a smooth and more “cushy” ride, this car isn’t it. It’s a fun of fun to drive, but it’s always in fun mode - even when comfort mode is selected. As for MPG, I can’t actually speak to that because I never really watch it. But I can guarantee that you’ll have a hard time driving the car efficiently, because it just begs to be played with and you’ll be putting your right foot down harder much more often than you will in a less engaging car. For higher mpg, the regular X4 with the smaller engine will be a better (but much less fun) choice.
@@cadreamdrives for consumption , in sport+ mode in town almost 80% of time 60 litters makes 450km !! (I don't pay gas) this is the extreme. you can make 800+ km on eco-mode on highways also this car is Jekyll and Hide
I have not tried a diesel version of this car. Diesels aren’t popular over here, the way they are in Europe. I will say that fuel efficiency probably shouldn’t be one of your top priorities when choosing an M40i. It just invites you to not drive in efficient ways. It’s way too much fun to drive!
I'm actually not sure. The High Beam Assist is listed on the car's option sheet as option code S5AC, but I'm not sure if it came as part of one of the option packages or was ordered as a stand-alone option. I think it's standard on most BMWs with LED lights these days? I'm also hearing that the button is there on all cars now, but the functionality needs to be purchased as a software deliverable option.
I ordered 2024 BMW X4, M40i, Brilliant, vibrant colors with a Aventurin Red Metallic and Exterior Tacora Red with full upgrade, Car is delivering on September 1st week. I don't know how it comes when I receive. Hope I don't regret.
Congratulations on your purchase! I think you will LOVE the car. They really are unique and very satisfying to own. Let us know how you like it when it arrives!
Thank you very much for your kind words - they mean a lot to me! I like the idea of reviewing the X5 as well - and maybe do a comparison. I’ll look into getting an X5 in for review, but it may take some time. My personal opinion on the two: The X5 will offer a more comfortable, but less sporty ride. It will also have more cargo space and even more headroom in the rear seats. It will likely also come with a higher price tag. For me, it’s all about the different feel between the two. The X5 is a more comfortable commuter / cruiser / road trip car, and the X4 is more sporty, feels less big, and is more fun to drive if you’re looking for an actual driving experience.
If you send me the make and model of your headphones, which device you usually watch on, and what volume levels your prefer, I'll do my best to balance the audio mix in my future videos according to those specs 😛
You are correct. For model year 2020 (and forward), BMW bumped up the HP to 382 through some software wizardry 😊. Our car is the 2019, which is why the HP is a tad less. On the flip side, BMW also did away with the crazy fun exhaust on the newer cars, so it’s a trade off.
@@Lilshad843 It would depend on my budget. If I had enough for a 2019, I would definitely go for that to get the new body style and other upgrades. But if not, I would happily buy an 18!
Hi Yogesh, Thank you for watching! It depends a little on what Driving Pleasure means to you - and maybe even more on the trim level of car. The decision between X3 and X4 is mostly a style decision, in my opinion. The cars are similar otherwise, so it depends on which one you like the looks of better - and if you need the added space you get in the X3. But the driving experience is hugely impacted by the trim level. If Driving Pleasure means being comfortable in city driving, in traffic, or on long road trips, I would pick the standard trim. It's more comfortable and has plenty of power for most. However, if Driving Pleasure means tearing up roads with lots of curves and driving more for the pleasure of driving itself, my pick would be the M40i for both models. That trim is a lot more sporty (for better and for worse), and the exhaust note is a thing to behold (or be annoyed by) in the M40i trim.
I wasn't sure about the color when I bought the car, but over time it has really grown on me. It looks very different in different lighting situations, but it always looks amazing!
With regards to the 2022 model, it's my understanding that there are two main differences between that and our 2019 model: Higher horsepower and lower exhaust noise. I can't speak to the HP change, but our car has never had me wishing for more. On the other hand, there is rarely a downside to more HP... For the exhaust, I hear it has been muted significantly in order to be in compliance with new regulations. That could potentially be a negative since the exhaust on the 2019 is glorious (but they way it's piped into the car isn't always great). With regards to the Brooklyn grey, I have only had the chance to that color in photos. It's not my favorite color, but colors are such an individual choice. If you like it, then it's the color for you! There is also often a big difference between photos and real world in may of the BMW colors today. I didn't necessarily think the Flamenco Red on our car was great in photos, but seeing it in person changed my mind completely. Good look with your search!
@@cadreamdrives Your response was excellent, and thank you so much. I love the color of your car and can only imagine how beautiful it must be in person, LOL No matter the color the BMW x4 is an exquisite vehicle in my estimation :-)
Man you rock! I’m only 35 and I am in the process to upgrade my lovely 2022 320i m sport shadow for a 2023 x4 and your video describes me perfectly. Greetings from Mexico.
