16mm is definitely a good starting point, but after its ceiling the 14mm is a good next step - six zero definitely still the ones to be for a hybrid shape paddle.
I left the DBD14mm for the BD. For me it was a night/day difference and one that I was looking for. I’m anxiously looking forward to the BD14mm. IMHO, going from the BD to the DBD 14mm is a step backwards. Not saying it’s a bad thing, it’s just the natural progression of an advanced paddle.
@@Peaceful13I’m not a fan of dwell time. The BD comes off faster so it helps with MY touch. Plus it spins more and it helps me to hit better shots. My BD14mm showed up and I still favor the BD16mm.
So interesting. Another popular reviewer says the 14 has more pop and the 16 has more power. And your stats at the top say the opposite. Now I'm confused.
If I was getting the same stats as another reviewer that would be a bit suspicious! I would recommend checking out multiple sources to form a complete picture we don’t all always agree - thanks so much for watching :)
I used John Kew’s method of short punch volleys using a radar gun! Pop was within 0.1 MPH between the 2 so I wouldn’t read to close between the lines there - the bigger difference is always power rarely pop
Still has not sell out . Will just stick to my 16mm ruby and order the Apollo with better swing weight n twist weight and almost half the price at $110
I bought my first Apollo about 5 weeks ago. After playing once with it in my league, I bought two more and like it stock and like it even more after adding about 20 grams of tungsten tape (3 grams at 10:00 and 2:00 and even 6 grams at 12:00, and 4 grams around 4:00 and 4 grams around 8:00). It still feels just as fast at the kitchen line with even more pop that is still controllable. The biggest difference I notice with my weighted up Apollo is the effortless depth I get on serves and returns. I really noticed this when I added the 6 grams at the tip of the paddle at 12:00. I originally had 3 grams at 10:00 and 2:00 and 4 grams at 4:00 and 8:00 and didn't notice much difference than it versus the stock Apollo, but my topspin shots got much more bite when adding the 6 grams at 12:00. The paddle still doesn't feel head heavy to me after this and feels well balanced. It has so many advantages for me over the Volair Mach 2 Forza, which I also own and like and I think it still might serve a purpose in using the Mach 2 Forza if I'm having an off day since the Mach 2 Forza has incredible touch and control.
