Most of the new luxury car buyers are not individuals but corporates who purchase on lease & buy-back offer. All this is meant to gain tax benefits. Also, cars like Audi, BMW offer 40-45% buy-back value after 4 years of purchase price. This works even better with corporates. Buying luxury car on loan that too as a salaried person is stupid idea & is done only for show-off in most cases. So if salaried, buy what you can get easily afford & if it's corporate, the accounts & audit dept will tell you whether to buy 1 Crore car or 2 Crore car !!

You should probably look forward for atleast 10 years when you buy these expensive cars. Mostly, when you buy a brand new one, after 5 years of use, these cars start giving you troubles like transmission errors, cooling system problems, engine check light, suspension problems etc.

Here is the problem. These cars are bought for prestige and old cars are not prestigious anymore. Secondly, as regular car they have high maintenance and running costs. Additionally if something breaks down then you are done. That is why their value falls like a rock as soon as they are a year or 2 old. I say never buy these.

We should not buy used luxury cars. Firstly they have expensive maintenance and after 5 years there is no maintenance package available, warranties finish off etc. Secondly buy a car at a price where you can buy two cars without batting an eyelid. You will be so happy with your purchase. For example, if you can afford to buy a car of 40 lakhs, buy a car of 20 lakhs new one. Believe me, you will do yourself a huge favour and earn a peaceful sleep. That is the real luxury.

Yes i can buy a used bmw or Benz instead of a fortuner but the thing is i drive i got places to go which means I getting my car serviced once or twice a year.. now service of a bmw and benz cost kidney while fortuner service is peanuts then are availability of parts both new and disposables. I have a 2011 E 250, 85000 km on the odo, runs like a dream. Overall running cost including maintenance and fuel is 14-15 rupees per km. This includes tyres. ,battery, service, small repairs etc. it’s not much higher than a smaller petrol car that does 10-11 km per liter and will still end up costing you 3/- per km on maintenance.

I would suggest go for lease option rather than buying used luxury car. You get the same benefits without the headache of maintainence plus you are owning a brand new car

I'll just say one thing. If u want a "luxury" car, note I'm talking of luxury and not low priced performance cars. If u have amount like 80 lakhs, go for a Lexus ES, cars based on the Lexus are very reliable and their service cost is comparatively lower than other brands like BMW or Mercedes. Rest wanting a performance car, they're gonna have problems cuz their engines are made in such a way that they're meant to be aggressive so it affects engine.

Simple things can go wrong and are expensive to upkeep. First of all if you are in a small town then the dealership will be hard to find and so will be the spare parts for it. Regular maintenance will be tough. Also many of these cars are plagued with electronics issues sensors and other things which r essential for normal functioning of the automobile one sensor failure can trip multiple failures and they are really hard to find and pinpoint.

No don't. If you're watching this then I can probably tell you're from a middle class family. There are much better cars now in the market than the old luxury ones. Cars nowadays are very feature loaded and very practical while the old luxury cars are for only one thing *SHOWOFF* Yes you will get better performance but that performance preference will start to fade seeing the new cheaper cars with better features.

Unlike cheaper cars, luxury cars are made for a longer life and parts are of better quality. So too much parts replacement is not needed frequently. The condition of the car and how it was used is to something to watch out for. The insurance cost ofcourse is a comparatively big expense. Dealers of Merc etc have a company guaranteed second hand section also. I bought a used Pajero five years ago, which had already done 1.4 lakh km. It was owned by a company before. I had the upholstery and two tyres changed. I have a good mechanic and he looks after the car well. I have had hardly any expenses on it and I enjoy driving it. Its pickup is unmatched, ride quality superb, very spacious and has a presence on the road which commands respect.
