I have personally booked Ax7 diesel amt.. from my experience this gearbox tuneup is way better then we get other amt in maruti or hyundai cars.. i had taken thr test drive of them..yes i agree there is a little lag but that lag is very less than what you manually try to change gears in manual transmissions.. here car itself is changing that's why we feel the lag but trust me you get someone to drive push it to peddle to mettle and you sit on the rear seat. I bet you wont be able to move your head forward with that G power force acting on you with this car.. in traffic conditions it does not even feel with changing the gears.. amt requires little trick to drive and i get it with the very first ride you will hate it and say its not a good option but once you learn it you will get it.. it will actually go faster then manual transmission in 0 to 100.. this is my observation, again this could change the perception person to person

Manas, we can understand your observations, but with this lovely powerful Torquie Diesel Engine, AMT gearbox is not syncing correctly, Mahindra could have provided a Torque converter at least like petrol. However it totally depends on buyers, driving patterns if they are OK with AMT 🙂👍

Hi i totally agree with what you are saying.. I do also say that the review you gave was good, i also do feel if they could have given us an option to get TC gearbox.. i have given the same feedback to company and showroom about the product.. but now at present it is what it is we can't change so yup i did not had other options but yes i am happy with my choice. Another factor i felt was like there is slight lag withe turbo in low end and it gets spooled up post 2300rpm once you are in that range its a good power this results additional lag + delay in initial power delivery.. they could have better tuned engine at lower rpm.. yes i felt it and agree on this. This car gives powerful feel once you are in its turbo power range between 2500rpm to 4300rpm.. in short mid-range is good with this car and then later with 5th gear is good with top end.. they have done something with gearing as lower gears are short and 5,6th gears are long

Felt the same, recently drove the petrol(tpmfi) nd diesel, both in automatic. I had absolutely no issues with the amt. Had a smile on my face throughout the drive. In fact, strangely, the amt felt like a good tc nd the tc in the petrol felt like a badly tuned amt!!! 😅 it was v slow in shifting gears. Amt diesel was anyday more fun, maybe it was the magic of the 300 nm torque nd not the amt. Haven't driven the manuals, so can't comment. Also, a point to note, is that in petrol tc, it shifts to upper gear at 4900 rpm, even in manual mode with zoom on!!!! Would have liked if it revved atleast to 6000 rpm, atleast in zoom nd in manual mode. It took away from the sporty feeling.

Seen 20+ Milage on Highway amt diesel ax5 While test driving it for more than 20kms Many said it can easily get more than 15 Kmpl all around. Who drove it.

Bhai, got AX5 diesel Autoshift. Same problem from 1st to 2nd gear takes a lot of rpm, almost after 22kph shifts gear in 2nd. Is there anyway the gear shifting from 1st to 2nd will take less time or less rpm. In other gears I noticed some lag but that is manageable. But from first to second gets on my nerves and feels like suffocation in the engine.

The only other option is to take control & drive in Manual mode but still you will feel the delay & lag.

AX5 diesel manual and automatic which has hill hold assist or both have hill hold assist?

We tested in Diesel Auto and hill hold assist was working, but we have not tested for Manual.

The korean car, with its Indian jugaad AMT is riddled with problems. I own one and MNM has done nothing to clear conplaints. Even after having paid for extended warranty, gear box has failed and no claims honoured by Mnm. Biggest mistake of my life. Ask me any questions, ill answer. And this joker reviewing says rubber band effect. There is no rubber band effect.

Thanks for the detailed review , can you please share your thoughts on driving XUV 3XO diesel AMT in manual mode? Is it the same as driving a manual gearbox ? Is there any difference in performance ? do we get full control like a manual gearbox?

Driving Diesel Manual Transmission is absolutely fun. However in the AMT manual mode, I have not driven much but yes it was little better compared with in Automatic mode, but still it cannot match with Diesel Manual Transmission. I wish Mahindra could have given the same 6 speed Automatic TC which they have provided in Petrol specs.

Ok, I can understand now. But I will suggest that without a test drive please do not purchase just based on RU-vidrs reviews, I can understand that other mahindra showrooms may be far from your place but better to take efforts and take a test drive and then decide.

Indeed, we felt the same, But I still believe Diesel AMT can give up to 12-13 kmpl in Cities & 15-17 kmpl on Highways.

1.2L Petrol Mpfi Manual & Auto expect 10-13 kmpl in cities, 15-17 kmpl on highways.But best part is you will get Torque Converter Automatic in petrol engine unlike Diesel AMT.
