Ok I get it, have paint to protect the car, then have film to protect the paint, have ceremic coating to protect the film, then have another coating to protect the coating!
I had PPF and a ceramic coating done on my new Model 3 about 6 months ago. The big surprise is that my car hardly ever gets dirty anymore! Formerly I would use a carnauba wax or similar type finishes. Due to static charge they would end up attracting dirt. The ceramic coat repels. This is a huge benefit. Even if it does get a little dirt it is very easy to wipe clean. No more visits to the car wash. Admittedly I live in a mild climate. I’m guessing with snow or lots of rain you probably would have to give a real wash now and then.
Interesting video. This is probably for those that really must have a immaculate car. For me, I’m cheap and more practicals. MY $48k after tax credit. $5k - $7k for full car PPF and ceramic. Think I’ll save the $ for the next car in 10 years. Doubt ill get the return when I go to sell it, it’ll still be a 10 year old car. For hydrophobic effect, I just get Turtle Wax Hybrid ceramic spray for $15 and call it good. Will also have to buy some $20 touch up paint for those rock chips. I think this is why the cyber truck with the stainless is so appealing to me.
Agreed - it all comes down to the lifecycle of the car and use. For most people, it's a lot of money for a car that comes protected with paint and clearcoat.
Very nice video Chris! After I got my Model X wrapped with Llumar’s Valor, I decided to go the route of 303, Turtle Wax’s Hybrid Solutions and Chemical Guys’ sprays and sealants. I’d figure I’m already washing the car every month already so I can always apply protection during the wash process. I will say, Turtle Wax has come a long way with Hybrid Solutions and Hybrid Solutions Pro especially their graphene flex spray!
Hey, thought someone had stolen you color on the model x. , was at xtreame today getting my car done. And saw a car l that looked like yours. It was yours. Looks great. John
Gotta love how pricing talk was avoided 😂 ceramic coating is expensive and PPF is 4X the cost of ceramic coating. Can’t even get a quote from these guys either
Yo Chris. Great videos man. Love your work. Question for you. I want to buy a good used Model X. I don't have money for a new one. If I buy a 2016 can I upgrade things in it to make it more "up-to-date". Ex. Can I upgrade the camera system to make the car more updated? Is it even worth it? If you have a video on this topic can you please tag me in it? Thank you.
Hey Chris. Preciate all of your helpful videos. Quick question. I have a MYLR 2024 and wanted to get the forged carbon fiber spoiler and mirror caps like you have on your blue/teal model X. Where did you get those at? Do you think it will look good on a black Model Y?
Hi, not sure if mentioned in a different video, but my model 3 2021 seat belt extenders don’t fit in my 2023 model y. I ordered 2 different seat belt extenders off Amazon that stated they would fit my yr and make but neither did. Have you found or do you know where to get seat belt extenders for the 23 model y? For kids in boosters or car seats, it’s a must bc they’re hands can’t reach down under to grab the teslas seatbelt. 😮
@Everyday Chris, not sure if I missed it but what did you do for your black trim protection? I’ve been looking for a couple of days and haven’t seen a full on video from anyone on how they protect the black trim. Ceramic coat it too? Worried it’ll change the look too much. I want to protect the factory finish.
@@EverydayChris but much tougher. A vinyl wrap is more for color change and is like a thin stretchy plastic film. PPF is thicker, doesn’t really stretch much and is very difficult to poke through. Some PPF is also colored, like Chris’s, but generally it’s clear.
